Beyond the What I Discovered Reading the Bible One Book at a Time is a collection of Wes McAdams' observations as he embarked on--and completed--a transformational journey of reading whole books of the Bible in one sitting. In this book, Wes recounts his journey through Scripture by summarizing the books of the Bible and explaining why reading whole books of the Bible in one sitting is the best way to understand Scripture. These summaries were originally published as blog posts, helping countless people become better students of the Bible, but now they are compiled in this book to help you go "beyond the verse."
Maybe 4.5 stars. I'm thinking of getting several copies and handing them out to friends and mailing them to pastors. I've already ordered two, to share and give away. A good book, full of food for thought, and a good corrective approach to how some people read or teach the Bible - while being easy to read.
This small offering of bible reference is stellar. Author McAdams is a long-time minister and author of biblical themes. In Beyond the Verse, he provides a very brief overview of every book in the Bible.
As a companion to the yearlong chronological study, the Bible Recap, the subject book commentary was read after said book was completed. McAdams always offered an extra helping of food for thought.
A book to retain on the reference shelf, and one to share with others as they study the Bible.
