An unauthorised biography of Robbie Williams spanning his life from when he joined Take That at the age of 17 through to 2006.
Described as "the definitive unauthorised biography" and reviewed on the back cover as "contains riveting revelations" the actual reality of the book was a somewhat disappointing chewing gum type biography. It could at a push be described as an easy reading book but the numerous typos in the book and less than flowing structure meant that at times I wasn't overly clear what the author was actually trying to say or what periods in Robbie's life he was referring to.
Interesting in parts but I never really felt like I was getting a genuine glimpse at the man himself or any sort of real understanding of the dynamics of his life. Not one I would recommend.
Not a brilliant read but it might have something to do with the actual content. It talked about Robbie’s addiction a lot …. maybe too much ….. I got the picture early on. I believe he’s a much happier guy now wedded to Ayda Field….. that’s excellent news.
I'm not really a fan of Robbie Williams and I only really know two of his songs but that shouldn't mean that it would impact on my enjoyment of reading the book. It did though. It is really just like a glossy fan magazine with titillation, half truths and rumours spread throughout. The book had no real continuity and lurched from tears, drunk stories, conquests and law suits. The blurb on the cover states: "...the kind of scandal-probing stuff a fan would crave...", well I'm not a fan and I didn't crave it. To be fair to the subject though, the book is an unauthorised biography and it shows.
