How to Wage Spiritual Warfare in the Last Days An important spiritual law was revealed by Jesus in Luke 11:21–22 and Matthew 12:29, “How can one enter into a strongman’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strongman? And then he will spoil his house.” Now, instead of “binding” symptoms, we can attack the sixteen strongmen or demonic spirits mentioned by name in the Bible! If God names them, they are real, and He has given us dominion over them through the Name of Jesus! In easy to understand language this book… Strongman's His Name...What's His Game offers a scriptural, balanced, and uplifting approach to present-day spiritual warfare.
Satan is very good in finding a neglected field of theology such as healing, and to badly abuse it.
The book definitely touches some urgent topics, but sometimes terribly abuses Scripture.
PROS
+ The book contains some good advice, e.g.: "Hosea the prophet warned the Hebrews: "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge" (Hos 4:6). This is basic. Buy yourself a set of cassette tapes of the New Testament and listen to them instead of some of the other things you listen to. Find a church that preaches the Word of G-d and feeds your spirit."
+ The book includes certainly some good discernment.
CONS
- He teaches a false Health & Wealth G‑spel:
"He wants you to be free to enjoy all the good things He has prepared for His children. He promises us salvation, peace, joy, health, protection, provision, wisdom, and eternal life to name just a few. Take what you need from the Word of G-d so that you will never again be robbed of G-d's very best in your life."
"As believers, we receive by faith what our Father has promised us in His Word, which certainly includes divine healing. This is G-d's way of providing healing to the members of the body of Christ."
- Some good exegesis, but more often (bad) eisegesis and false teachings, e.g.:
"But according to Job's own words, the problem that initiated the whole episode was fear. "For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me" (Job 3:25). He opened up the door to satanic oppression by fearing the loss of his children, wealth, and health. When Satan asked for the opportunity to come against Job, he had a legal entry into Job's life, the open door of fear, and he took advantage of it with a vengeance. Up until that time, Satan hadn't been able to touch him because of G-d's hedge around him. Note that G-d still restricted Satan in his actions, even though He didn't stop him, until Job got his thinking straightened out."
"... everyone I had prayed for to have a peaceful death was getting up, restored to health. He let me know that He was just allowing them to enjoy a few more months or years of life, free from bondage and fear, so they would have a taste of what His peace is like before going on to heaven. Isn't the Lord good? You see, Satan had the power of death, but he doesn't anymore where Christians are concerned. When Jesus died, He descended into the place of the unrighteous dead and took the keys of hell and death (Revelation 1:18)."
"Fear not," is mentioned in one form or another 365 times in the Bible—one time for every day of the year. We do not have to put up with fear for even one day." [a biblical year is 360 days long as clearly indicated in the Bible ... even atheists know better that our calendar was not always 365 days long!]
- He is intentionally twisting the Bible while denying the wrath of THEOS:
Quote "Now let us go back to the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt. Many Christians believe that G-d killed the first-born children whose parents had not placed the blood of a lamb on the doorposts of their home."
But the Bible plainly contradicts him: Psa 134(135):8 "All that KYRIOS pleased He hath done, In the heavens and in earth, In the seas and all deep places, Causing vapours to ascend from the end of the earth, Lightnings for the rain He hath made, Bringing forth wind from His treasures. Who smote the first-born of Egypt, From man unto beast. He sent tokens and wonders into thy midst, O Egypt, On Pharaoh and on all his servants." See also Psa 135(136):10.
- Highly questionable doctrine of 'binding & loosing':
"When I pray for someone with cancer, for example, I rebuke and bind the spirit of infirmity that is trying to destroy the cells of his body. Then, I loose the spirit of life into his body and command every cell to become a healthy, vibrant, living cell to the glory of G-d." [the only one who commands cells is THEOS and we can only appeal to Him for healing those cells; but to teach that we can directly command cells is ridiculous]
"Now that you are a child of G-d, according to Matthew 18:18, we are going to bind the strongman, the spirit of divination, and loose the power of the Holy Spirit in your life."
"Thank You, Jesus, for giving me freedom from all the forces of the enemy. I loose Your Holy Spirit in my life according to Matthew 18:18 ..."
"... be assured that all of heaven is honoring your prayers of binding and loosing. Bind the enemy in his life each time the Holy Spirit nudges you to do it until you see results. The Holy Spirit is a gentleman and is waiting for you to come into agreement with G-d's will in the individual's life before He starts His work. Out of ignorance, he is continually throwing the doors open. Each time you bind the strongmen in his life, they will be bound for a season and hindered in their influence. Don't forget to loose or release the spirit of adoption to continue His work of drawing him to Christ. The impossible person may have other strongmen operating in his life that you recognize, such as the spirit of error, etc., so bind them also and loose the positive side the Lord wants to work in him such as the spirit of truth, etc."
"We can also aggressively attack this spirit through our own private intercession. We can daily [!!!] bind this strongman of error and loose truth into their minds and lives. Jesus is Truth; therefore we are really loosing Jesus to have a greater influence on them. Because they are constantly opening themselves up to error, we must be consistent in our binding and loosing until they commit their lives to Christ and renew their minds in the Word of G-d."
"Speak to death as you would any other spirit from the devil, but also remember to loose the spirit of life into the one you are praying for."
- He prays in the very same prayer to IESOUS and to Satan which is outmost heretical and unheard of !!!
"Thank You, Father, that Your Word is the truth. We can count on the confirmation of Your Word at all times as we believe and act upon it. "Satan, in the name of Jesus I bind your dumb and deaf spirit according to Matthew 18:18, which tells me, 'Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven.' I demand that you stop harassing me this instant. Leave me and never return, you foul spirit. "Thank You, Jesus, for giving me freedom from all the forces of the enemy. I loose Your Holy Spirit in my life according to Matthew 18:18, which states, 'Whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.' I loose resurrection life and the gifts of healings to do a complete work in my body and soul. And I appropriate Your victory over Satan in every area of my life. Amen."
- Clear abuse of the gift of tongues. He implies it to be the normal for a believer, that essentially everyone who is baptized in the Spirit receives that specific gift, which is clearly contrary to biblical doctrine.
"Use your prayer language. If you haven't received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, make it a priority in your life." [even someone who has received the gift cannot use it whenever he or she desires as 'your prayer language' indicates; the HOLY SPIRIT always needs to lead and not to think, oh let's bring up that gift right now ...]
"I remember the case of a doctor friend of mine. She received the baptism of the Holy Spirit but had never experienced freedom of expression in her prayer language. [...] At this, she acknowledged that I was correct and prayed with me, renouncing the practice. Immediately, she had a fluency in her prayer language that she had never enjoyed previously." [it is crystal clear at this point that the author is a highly problematic teacher - if we receive that specific gift there is no nuance in fluency; it is either there and perfect because it comes from the HOLY SPIRIT, or it is not there!]
- He speaks all over the book of all kinds of Spirits, but does nowhere define what this word means and where exactly does he get the names and the structure for his categories from. Sometimes he goes along some Bible verses, but often it seems as if he just imagines a fitting category, or worse, that he confuses a simple 'vice' with a spirit person.
- Repeated promotion of the 'Sinner's Prayer'. Early in the book he equates one 'Sinner's Prayer' with salvation - while admitting later in the book that some prayed it for a entire month:
"If you haven't accepted Christ as your Savior, simply say, "Lord Jesus Christ, forgive me of my sins and accept me as Your child. I accept You as my personal Savior and promise to follow the instruction of Your Word from this day on. Thank You, Jesus, for saving me from all my sins. Amen. Now that you are a child of G-d ..."
"In our crusades in Latin America, the people will many times repeat the sinner's prayer for a month or more before they begin to understand what has taken place in their lives. Their hearts have been so darkened by centuries of witchcraft and false religion that the light seeps very slowly into their inner beings."
[This is far off from any biblical reality. In Early Christianity, people were told the Good Message, set eventually free from demonic possessions and then baptized ideally the same day. But repeating a prayer which is foreign to the Bible for one month is as heretical as it can get.]
- He teaches plain legalism when forbidding Christians to drink any alcohol:
"Note the statistic that one-third of those who call themselves evangelicals drink alcohol as do one-half of all ministers. Just reading the above statistics should convince any Christian that alcohol must be shunned as if it were a coiled rattlesnake."
- He has some good thoughts behind his prohibition of listening to country and western, rock and roll, but we should not go as far as to condemn those genres entirely. We have to create specific discernment, and a blank prohibition does not help much if discernment is absent, because every genre, especially Christian music in itself contains sometimes highly problematic lyrics.
"Much of the music on the Top 40 charts has been written by witches and people actively involved in the occult. Some of the biggest hit records were not released until they were "blessed" in a witch's coven. They entreat demonic spirits to go with each record and be a direct influence on the minds and lives of the listeners. The seducing beat of the music is the same as that used in the jungles to conjure up evil spirits and cast voodoo spells. The latest trick is the use of backmasking to implant subliminal suggestions in the listeners' minds without them being aware of it."
- Some highly questionable stories are also included:
"I heard recently of an elderly Christian man who announced to his children at a family gathering, "I'm going to die at 3:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon. I want you all to be there because I have something special to tell you before I go." [...] He laid down on the bed and spoke, telling how he wanted them to live after he left them, and at 3:00 p.m. he entered the presence of the Lord as gently as if he had taken a heavenly elevator."
Although there are a few things that I personally don't agree with, I do believe that this book was very well written and I'm excited to finish it by the end of this week.
June 13-13 Well I just finished reading it and I must say that I really enjoyed the book. There are some things that I don't agree with but there are still a lot of other facts in this book that I did agree with.
This book was very informative and gave a clear breakdown or categorization of "Strongmen". I enjoyed the practical examples and scriptural references. It is a book I am sure I will refer to time and again.
Great read of the types and ways the enemy like to attack, suppress, take from, But when standing, living in authority of God we rather bring terror to the enemy in spiritual warfare. Would highly recommend
This manual is a must for those who are involved with or desire to learn more about spiritual warfare. The authors are missionaries who have served in a number of different countries where demonic activity was the norm. They had on the job training, and this manual is a collection of the demonic strongmen they found in the Word that they encountered in their ministries. It's full of great information, and I highly recommend it as a field manual for spiritual warfare. It's so needed that I've given my copies away, and have to re-purchase the book. And I DO purchase it again every time because it's so helpful for intercessory prayer. If you're a prayer warrior, this manual is tremendously helpful.
This book is a simple explanation of God's Word describing the works of satan. I will be referring back to many passages to fill my mind with scriptures in order to teach others how to resist evil. And, how to praise and give all the glory to God. I recommend this book to all believers and nonbelievers. God bless the Robesons.
