About the author

L. Jaye Morgan has been a horror/mystery/thriller fan since she was a small child and she sometimes wonders what that says about her state of mind. Nevertheless, she now writes mysteries and psychological thrillers that feature African American characters—the books she’s always wanted to read.

She has a master’s degree in African American Studies and 3/4ths of a PhD in Sociology. When she’s not writing her dissertation, she’s procrastinating by thinking up more stories to tell. And binge-watching shows on Netflix. Her debut novel, Of Things Unseen, will be released in November of 2018.

She currently lives outside of Atlanta, Georgia with her wonderful husband, two brilliant children, and a spoiled dog.

Babbbyyyyyy this book here! I usually know who did what in every book I read because although authors try to withhold that info they're not really good at it....or maybe it's the bookworm in me.....but anyway, I was in so much suspense alllllllll through this book! I can't even say much without giving anything away but.....the power of the P@#$%!

There is nothing like a good whodunit and one written by a black woman too! Winning.

Gianna wakes up in a hospital and no memory of how she got there. She finds out she has amnesia and her husband was killed. This is where the real story begins.

The real star of this book was Gianna's grandmother, Emmy. She had the best one liners and gave sage advice.

I started to dislike Gianna more and more as the book went on and there was a contentious replacement with her mother on top of everything. There were suspicious relationships and many questionable things done on Gianna's part. Unreliable narrators make for good stories.

Well worth the read and I will definitely read more from this author.

Excellent read

Excellent read, I enjoyed the storyline. The characters were complicated. Some people will do anything for love. Gianna was selfish and manipulating and Tremaine was insecure and needy. The only character that had redeeming qualities was the teenaged daughter Kaya . I recommend this book.

Gianna and Tremaine were a piece of work! I had a feeling it would end the way it did, but I wasn’t completely sure, which is why I had to read it all the way through. Emmy was something else—so manipulative—and it’s wild how she raised Gianna to be just like her. This was definitely an interesting read. Honestly, I don’t even have the words for it!

Loved it

This was a good red from the beginning to the end. It was also kind of a cliffhanger. I wanted to know what happened to Gianna. Did she take her daughter and mother and left town so she could move on or did she ended up going to to prison too

Blown Away

I'm stingy with my 5 star rating but this one undeniably earned it. After forcing myself to put it down, I was still thinking about hours later. I would have preferred a stronger ending but it was still wrapped up nicely.

I gave 4 stars because there were many areas that did not come off as realistic as it should have. For example, her best friend (IRL), would have been there by her side more (not a spoiler). Also, why was Emmy’s story important? It was told but for what? I guess I missed the connection. I would still try her other books.
