A methodical, systematic approach to an extremely difficult topic. My knowledge of this discipline was close to none, yet the book shone with refined scholarly sincerity. It leaves me with plenty of open questions. Another great bible to sew into the arcana of hermetic sciences, Egyptian and Chaldean mystery schools, neoplatonic, Graeco-Roman philosophy and history of ideas of religion. With a personal approach of erecting bridges in-between these schools and revivifying them with science vis a vis theology, metaphysics and magick, reading it was a most desired and rewarding enterprise for a generalist with a taste for the specific and rare.

A serious and scholarly examination of Babylonian and Assyrian astrology. The book is set out in a chronological fashion starting with the earliest periods and then moving onto explore the Assyrian period and the mass of material discovered in the state archives of Assyria. The author has also collected together some of the basic information on the planets ie their names and natures in astrology texts.
Although well-written, the book is quite difficult as it uses quite a bit of Akkadian terminology especially when discussing some of the commentaries and text groups.
