We saw how this couple ends up in the first bit of the series – their story was the precipice for bringing Hawke and Frankie back together at one point in the first three books – so it’s nice to see them get their own air time.

Just like the summary says, Axel has known Marie his whole life, but not this current present day version. She’s grown up, grown into her own body, gotten a ton of confidence and has become the kind of woman that any man would want to be with. The challenge of course is that there’s the family code and best friend code and things can get dicey.

It’s sweet to watch how this relationship really starts….how it’s born from the misery that Frankie goes through after her first breakup with Hawke. We learned all about what those months and years were like, but we get to see it first hand through someone else’s eyes- through the eyes of a brother and a best friend who want her to just get better and who find comfort and chemistry with each other.

The journey that this book goes on is one that’s expected since we’ve seen the ending of this movie, but it’s also nice to get the real story – to see that it wasn’t an easy venture for either and that it’s still not smooth sailing even after this first installment since we see they get more than one.

Marie is more than any man should ever want and Axel worships the ground that she walks on. Of course, he doesn’t see it for what their relationship truly is until words are spoken that can’t be taken back and he runs. On the other hand, we know that Marie has this interest in him that spans all the way back to high school so she’s a bit wary at the onset anyway since it seems like he’s a bit shallow for noticing her only now that she’s grown up.

They’re entertaining for sure, but the bulk of this is sad and emotional. They’re better friends to Frnakie than she perhaps deserves, and as a result, they don’t get to really enjoy the beginning of what could be the best thing ever for themselves, and when they do, it’s almost too short lived. Expectations are placed on each other, words are spoken that maybe weren’t right for the time and Axel is gone.

Their ending of this story still precedes the move to NYC although we know that it’s just over the horizon – school is almost over, the internship that Axel has is almost complete and they are just about to make the hours long drive to New York to see what the big apple has for them. I think they want their dreams to come true, and being a New Yorker, i can only wish them the best! Can’t wait to dive into ‘Friday’ – the next book in this series.

We got to see bits and pieces of Axel and Marie in Francesca and Hawks books so I was excited to see how their relationship unfolded in their POV’s. What I wasn’t expecting was having to relive Francesca’s and Hawkes heartbreak all over again. I felt like this book was for both couples, which I really like because this time frame of Francesca and Hawkes was skimmed over in their books. It’s also still very heartbreaking. I hated when those two were going through it the first time and it was just as hard the second time.

Now for Axel and Marie, I’m glad to see their beginning. I didn’t realize how hard it was for them at first. What glimpses we got of them in the first 3 books of the series, you just really saw when they weren’t together at first and then they were. I didn’t realize how deeply Marie had a crush on Axel from the time they were kids. She was trying to be over that crush since he never paid her any attention then but when he finally noticed her, you could tell she never really got over her long time crush. I felt bad for her that she didn’t think Axel was looking past the surface in the beginning and it was incredibly sweet when he finally realized he liked her for more than just sex. They are both actually really cute together. But that ending! Gah! E.L. Todd, you're killing me!

Thursday is Axel and Marie's story and we get an insight into their story throughout Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Thursday actually takes place between Monday and Tuesday, therefore I'd recommend reading in order.

I found Axel to be funny throughout the first three books, but he was more serious in this one. He's Frankie's older brother, but Marie is Frankie's best friend and has always had a crush on Axel.

It isn't until recently that Axel has started to notice Marie since she has gone from ugly duckling into a beautiful swan and he wants to make her his latest conquest, because Axel is a player. So when they have their "one night" Axel is bummed when Marie isn't there in the morning.

Marie like's Axel, but feels he's too shallow. It isn't until they're forced to spend time together caring for Frankie, they find themselves wanting more, but can they agree to more?

I guess the only off putting thing about their story is that we know what happens from the previous three books, but I'm uncertain of how I'd feel about the chopping and change of character's stories. Overall we see a much different side to both Axel and Marie's characters.

I received this book intern for my honest opinion.

Continuity sucks with this writer. Character names change, conversations are completely different…

Then there’s the H’s father’s suicide. In book 1 his sister found him, now in his series the H found him?? Dramatic license per series????

Also “IV league” schools??? I literally spit my coffee.

“I might have to get her a prescription for Prozac.”
“I don’t think that would do anything. She’s not clinically depressed.”

—meanwhile the character exhibits every symptom of being clinically depressed.

When his sister attempts suicide because of what the H said to her and the h from this book doesn’t want to tell her I hated them both. He was so out of line and hateful I could never stay in a relationship with someone who would say the things he did to a sister he loved. It proves everything the h said about him. He’s selfish and shallow. Then the H/h continually lied to the H from the last series about how the sister was doing. Inferring she was awesome and moved on. They lied to both of them. Possibly causing more harm and distance between the two. I’m 1 starring this for that alone. He isn’t redeemable. And frankly, neither is the h.

EDIT…in the next book, when these two assholes breakup…the H from the first book steps in and tries to get them back together. He doesn’t lie and withhold info. And when he tells this h he’s not over his h…SHE DOESN’T SAY A FUCKING THING TO HIM. She just lets him go and doesn’t tell him how miserable his h is. Then his h comes home and smells his cologne in the house and is so depressed missing him and this c*nt lies to her about him being there. If I could zero star this book I would.

It was a good lead in to Axel & Marie's backstory. If you take away all the pages of her describing the details of them having sex then the story is about 20 pages long. C'mon E.L. Todd give it more depth then that.

Depending on how much you were into Mon-Wednesday you can also pick out the glaring inconsistency in this version. For example- Alex didn't know Hawke moved but they found Frankie at his old apartment. In the original story, Axel was the one who called Frankie and said Hawke got the job in NYC & he was leaving that day to take it.
Also when Frankie was in the hospital it said she was breathing on her own but the next paragraph said she had a ventilator down her throat. 3 days later it was removed and she started breathing on her own.

Little mistakes like this in a book drive me crazy but overall it was a good story. I was a little leary of the rest of the story once Wednesday wrapped up all the story lines and included an epilogue of the future. So perhaps this story was hastily thrown together.

Is any guy really as clueless as Axel? He is around 27 years old and yet he is very immature. His life is nothing but one sexual joke.
He never noticed his sister's best friend as a younger girl because she hadn't come into herself. Now that she was older and had confidence he starts to take notice. Marie isn't impressed and she lets him know that she thinks he is shallow. Axel didn't appreciate hearing that about himself. It's when he realized that he was starting to see things about Marie that he never noticed in the other girls he hooked up with.
Axel is in denial about what their relationship is really like and when Marie says the 3 words no guy wants to hear what does he do????
I know we read in the earlier books what Frankie had gone through but I actually think she was pathetic. We all have lost someone at one point in are lives but to carry on like she did for 3 months to me was overkill. I can see for a little while but it lasted to long and for her to take drastic measures to get past it was even more pathetic.

these stories are so badly written and edited…but

The storylines are decent. I like the general feel for the context but there are so many spelling and just plain wrong word errors it drives me batty. The editing is terrible. Sometimes I think EL Todd is a man but the men are written so immature and shallow and egotistical. Why would a man write them that way? The first three parts with Frankie and Hawke was like playing ping pong with a hole in your paddle. I don’t recommend this books. I actually paid for them. This is my second time through them because I had fogotten how bad they were.

This is the fourth book in The Timeless Series.

This book is telling the story of Maria and Axel. When we were reading about Hawke and Francesca these two didn't really seem to hot and heavy.....my bad!!

Axel does not know what to do with the feelings he is having for his sisters best friend. Hes a playboy that never settles down.....or does he??? If you read the other books in the series you already know the answer to this.

Happy Reading

Typos

I find it crazy that I pay $4.99 for a book and it has four typos in it. Spend more time proofreading too keep your readers happy. The story line is good.

Marie and Axels story abd whilst it was nice to see how they got together, the story felt a bit useless to me as we already knew how they ended up!

It doesn't happen very often where I like the 'secondary couple' of a series but in this case, Axel and Marie are quickly and permanently becoming my favorite couple of the series. This story only solidified that fact because Axel becomes the man who can open to the possibility of love and Marie gets her dream come true.

After a one night stand of passion, the pair come together to help their friend (Frankie) survive her break up with Hawke. Initially I will admit that I was very annoyed with how she handled everything but seeing her through Axel's eyes I began to understand her more. She is acting the way her father did when her mother died. The psychology major in me is cheering out loud because Todd perfects the art of how kids pick up traits from their parents. More often then not in books, that doesn't happen. A father will be a jerk (for lack of another word I can't use) and we don't see any of that residual on the character. I like how Todd uses the experiences of the characters past to dictate their decisions. BECAUSE THAT IS REAL.

Now on to what I like to call the money shot of the book. The love scenes. You thought it was hot with Hawke and Frankie. That was lukewarm compared to Axel and Marie. They have so much lust for one another you don't want to believe it because it can't be real. Oh but it is people. It is!

Axel by far is my favorite character in the book (though that might change after I read Kyle's book). He is what I expect to be that average joe kind of guy. He likes sports, makes inappropriate jokes, and thinks with one head (if you catch my drift). Marie forces him to see his flaws and on his own he decides to change for her. If that's not love, then I don't know what is.

For the ending, if you read the first book you probably expected it to happen. And the fact that you know that they end up together in the end doesn't make it that surprising. They needed some kind of bang in their relationship. What I am looking forward to is how Axel gets his head out of his butt and tries to woo Marie over again. And the question will be, how long will it take? Will it be like Tuesday where Hawke and Frankie don't get together for 80% of the book? While its realistic I hope not. Axel and Marie are my favorite and I need them together for every single page.

Where are you! I love this series! I can't get enough of them. Marie and Axels story is a great story, but I do indeed miss Hawke and Frankie! All the characters have so much depth and it's easy to see them as real people. I guess that's why I was able to fall so quickly with this series!

I definitely recommend this series to romance readers.

The 3.5 stars story was one that I was looking forward to reading. After being introduced and getting brief clips of Marie and Axel in Books Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (Timeless #1-3); I was curious how their start came to be.

Quick overview...Marie has always had a thing for Francesca's brother, Axel but back in their younger years she was seen more as the the geeky best friend that hangs out his with his sister. Times have changed, they are older now and the perception of each other turns into a different direction.

Soooo I am somewhat torn on how I felt about the start of Marie and Axel's story because for most of the first half of the book so much was mentioned of the relationship between their best friends Francesca and Hawke. It was good to see snippets of their friends' relationship but I was hoping for just a little bit more of them personally instead of bits and pieces that eventually came together. It was very sweet how they became close because of their dear friends' and it did let us witness their blossoming chemistry.

I must add that I did enjoy reading the interaction between Axel and Hawke. It gave me a deeper look into the minds of these two men in this series. It was interesting to see how different and similar they were when it comes to certain things and will leave it at that to avoid spoiling anything. ;)

I was clueless and she was headstrong. We were like gasoline and fire. Together, we exploded.

When I was finally feeling more connected to Marie and Axel during my read you cannot help but fall for them and endure the feels of wanting to take the next step but at the same time hesitating and being afraid for more. They both deeply cared for their friends/family and because of that they were able to see more of each other true self. After we were left with that cliffy (because hopefully you have already read books #1-3; you should know already know their outcome) I am looking forward to seeing how they were able to overcome the challenges they have to face together.

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday were all about Hawke and Frankie’s. Thursday is now about Axel and Marie. Yay! I was super excited to read Axel and Marie's story and I was in no way disappointed. This story was written so well and it kept me interested throughout the entire book. I was also excited that we were allowed to take a look into Frankie's attempted suicide and the struggle that she had to overcome. That was left out of Monday-Wednesday so I am happy we finally got to see what transpired through the gap years. The chemistry between Axel and Marie was instant and their story touched me in a special way. I went through a lot of emotions in this book ranging from sadness, happiness and being angry with Axel. I will admit that this story is a little similar to Frankie and Hawke's story, but it did in fact shine in its own light. I was just as invested in these characters as I was with Frankie and Hawke. The only negative that I have for this story is the similarity between Hawk and Axel, but this is a minor flaw. Both believe that they will turn out like their fathers and attempt to push the person they love away. Although their story lines are similar, the details of their stories are different and both face different issues. Other than that, this story is amazing and I highly recommend this read and I cannot wait to start reading Friday.

I love that I already know the ending of Axel and Marie. At least I think I do. This author may surprise me. She's that good!
In this edition of the Timeless Series we finally get the full frontal view of the aftermath when Hawke walked out on Frankie and the background of how Axel and Marie got their start.
I have learned to love Axel more despite his childish ways. He steps up for his sister when needed and finds Marie along the way. Let's face it. Axel was a bit of a ho! Admittedly so he never put stock in relationships. But then he met Marie. The grown up version. He's known her his whole life as his sisters best friend but he sees her in a different light now. Obviously he is smitten but the boy is clueless or in denial. When he pulls a Hawke out of fear of being like his father he has likely broken her heart. Thankfully we know how this ends so we'll get there!
Marie grows so much in my eyes in this edition. Previously we don't get a good look at her and miss her greatest traits. She is so fiercely loyal to Frankie she would pass up on her life long love to take care and protect her friend. She feels deeply and loves hard! I love this girl! She's such a fighter for all that is good!
I can't wait for the weekend in this series!!
