What happens when opposites attract from warring packs?
Peyton Collier is unhappy in her life. She’s watched as her sisters found their mates and dreams of the day it will finally happen to her. But when she meets Oliver, the swoon-worthy bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks, all she can do is faint, then crawl in a hole to die of embarrassment.
Oliver Smith has enough to worry about and doesn’t need or want the complications of a new mate. He’s still adjusting to his new role as a single dad and doing everything in his power to just get his younger brothers through high school. Being a Larken wolf comes with its `own stereotypes, but being a half-breed puts Oliver at the bottom of the Pack.
Can Peyton and Oliver overcome their own prejudices and those of society?

What a pleasant surprise! Definenly one of the best in this series!
Oliver Smith stole my heart when he sold his cherished motorcycle in for a mini van so he could drive his daughter around. He was just such a good guy. Peyton was absolutely perfect for him.
I absolutely fell in love with Peyton! She was always invisible in the past books but damn her personality and cunning won me over. I love a smart, savvy heroine!
This series is pretty formulaic and repetitive. It’s easy to predict what will happen in each book. I had expected some of the unfinished story arcs from the Westin Pack novels to bleed over, but they really haven’t. At this point these aren’t really supernatural books, they may as well be human except for the fact that they have a ‘true mate’. In this book there really isn’t much involvement with the pack or even with the Collier family other than a few scenes and some very minor pack politics. There is hardly any shifting, in fact they don’t shift at all until almost the end of the book. I’m not super put off by that, but if you’re looking for a shifter book this one probably won’t meet your expectations. I liked the story well enough, but overall I’ve been pretty underwhelmed by the Colliers which is a shame because I do like the characters. I liked the Westin pack books a lot more though (if you follow me, you’ll know I particularly liked Maddy and Chase’s stories out of that series).
They are opposites in everything !! So how could they be true mates ? She is rich, he is poor and they are from different Packs, her pack is well respected, his pack has a bad reputation and struggling. Oliver lives with his father and 3 brothers,he basically takes care of them all,and to top it off he is a father to a baby girl called Eve. Eve is the light of his miserable life,Eve's mother neglects Eve and doesn't want to be a mother she leaves and Oliver takes custody of Eve. Peyton Collier feels stuck in her life, she longs for a family all that she seems to do is work and then by chance Oliver comes into her life unexpectedly and he gives her a purpose, and a ready made family. Peyton Knows what she wants and what that is,is Oliver..she doesn't care that he has nothing and proceeds to show him his worth and gives him and his 3 brothers and Eve a home and jobs. Of course Oliver is stubborn and doesn't think he is good enough for Peyton, even though his Wolf and Peyton's wolf don't agree...They are TRUE Mates and there is no stopping destiny. This is such a wonderful story and I very much loved listening to it,narrated by Carly Robins and Joe Hempel who are just excellent with their storytelling.Their voices clear, precise and expressive.. Julie Trettel has really captivated me with this series and Broken Chains is a superb edition. Loved it. 5 stars.
What can be more embarrassing then fainting from the hotness of a guy? That guy not wanting you as a mate, that's what!
When Peyton Collier sets eyes on her one true mate, she is so overwhelmed that she just down and faints.. Is it his good looks and muscles, or the overpowering need to jump his body? God has picked an awful time to put them together, but darn did he ever make a good match for her, now she just had to convince him of that and oh did I forget to mention that he has the dreamiest green eyes.....ahhhhhh! It doesn't hurt that I get the cutest baby and 3 other men in the deal.
Oliver Smith had to start raising his 3 brother at the tender age of 11 and he regrets not a minute of it, his only regret is not being able to get them away from the Larken Trailer Park where his drunken father resides with them. Then there is his beautiful Eve, he will sacrifice all to be able to provide for her and his brothers. When he catches the scent of the lovely customer who has swooned at sight of him, he wonders what's going on with his wolf and what does he mean when he says mate?
Can a Collier and a Larken wolf put aside their differences for love?
Peyton Collier enjoys cooking for a living at the local diner but that doesn’t stop her from feeling frustrated. An emergency sends her to the next town where she looks into Oliver Smith’s eyes and swoons. Unbeknownst to Peyton, Oliver is unceremoniously fired after the incident while Peyton’s unsure if she heard her wolf right and tries to ignore it.
Oliver hasn’t had an easy time of it, despite his drunk, abusive dad, Ollie’s been responsible for his younger brothers since he was eleven. As a half-wolf and the bottom of the pack, there was a lot Oliver didn’t know or understand, like why his wolf was shouting ‘mate’ every time he got near Peyton.
Confused and wondering if Oliver’s half-wolf can’t answer or receive a mate call. Peyton comes up with a way to get all the Smith brothers on her side. It’s not that Oliver isn’t pulled to Peyton, it’s that she’s at the top of a rich pack and he’s below the bottom of a very small and poor pack and that’s a class distinction he doesn’t know how to cope with. OMG! Ms. Trettel has done it again! :D This latest fan-freaking-tastic PNR must read grabbed me from the get-go & kept me glued to my seat! ... "BROKEN CHAINS" is the 4th awesome stand-alone in the phenomenal ‘Collier Pack’ world of shifters! I am always amazed at how she comes up with a fresh new, different story each time! Always relatable characters that jump off the pages, both recurring & some new; fantastic attention-to-detail with some surprise twists & turns that I know will keep readers hooked & turning pages fast like I did! ... I never write spoilers or recap blurbs, but even tho I volunteer to beta read this author's books, it is always without any outside influences, and these are my honest feelings! Plus, I have bought many of her books in the past whenever I was able to. So yes, I can honestly recommend this to all adult fans of fiction! I can't wait for more, but of course I definitely will!
Love, family, troubles and triumphs! What more could you ask for...?
Peyton and Oliver both have mundane lives and what better for themselves. After a chance encounter at the store, Pey fainting and being carried by Oliver is the start to more... To new lives and a new, fresh one true mate love.
Is it an easy ride? Is it ever? Lol. It’s smoother than some of the other Collier/Weston loves, but still has its own trials to overcome. The main thing being Oliver’s little baby girl, Eve, - who will capture your heart completely - or more to the point, her mother, Melina...
Oliver’s brothers play a big part in this story, too, and they’re all totally adorable! Thomas Collier and Luke Larkin have minor, but big parts as well, with a fresh look at how Alpha’s SHOULD behave.
This book has opened up to more stories to come and I cannot wait! Bring them on, Julie!
I feel like a broken record when it comes to Ms. Trettel's books, but I can't help it. This series and the Westin Pack series are so amazing. I LOVED THIS BOOK too!
Peyton and Oliver are such great characters. Oliver with his enormous heart and crosses he has to bare to keep his family from being torn apart. The strength he shows while working against all odds to do what is right with a very limited support system and little funds. I totally fell hard for him. Thank goodness Peyton is a nurturing woman with a little stubborn streak that slowly erodes the walls Oliver has built. Her mothering nature definitely saves the lives of the Smith clan and brings change into the conversation. A great turning point in the lives of many. I can't wait to see what comes of this in the next book!
This was a cute story, single dad who has also had to raise his young brothers basically by himself since mom left & dads a drunk. Him & his brothers are only 1/2 wolf shifters so they don’t really know about mate bonds.
They are also from the opposite ends of the track she’s rich & he’s poor. Their love story includes her falling in love with his daughter and his brothers as if they were her own. Convincing them to help her fix up an old house giving them each her own rooms & beds which they had never experienced before. It’s so cute.
Predictably the ex comes into the story at the end trying to shake things up and take their daughter. The entire book was predictable but it was cute & enjoyable!
I'm not sure which series I love better but even if the next book is not who I want it to be for from time to time, I always love them. They are unexpected in small ways that make the stories new and unique. I read 2 and 3 books a night. Julie's books I purposely take 2 days with just so they wont be done as fast. Eve was so adorable. Peyton was the best friend you wanted to root for. Ollie and peyton are the couple I want to hear more about. I want to know what happens to the brothers. This rocked. Read it, minions.
I have loved every Collier, Larken, Weston pack stories. Look for them everywhere. This one was no different than others. You have created wonderful characters. They bring you not only inside with packs but into their hearts. The old movies made kid's scared. Other books about shifter packs have totally different views about, why, how, but even when I read some I will always want more from yours. Thank you.
As with all her other books in the series I have yet to be disappointed and I can't wait until the next one so I can continue on, but until that time I'll be switch back over to the arc and westin series ' and hopefully they will hold hold me over until the the next the next book the next book in the next book in this the next book in this series ...Def recommend
Wow I absolutely loved Peyton and Oliver’s story. I actually read this so quickly, I was glued to it. Peyton wants a simple life with her true mate but what she didn’t expect is a ready made family to love. Oliver isn’t sure of what he’s feeling but a bit of encouragement does wonders. Amazing story, plot, and the characters are fabulous. Lots of loving sweet moments but some angst to go with it. Highly recommend
Julie Trettel has done a wonderful job with this series. Each book adds new characters to the extended Collier clan and each story has it's unique focus on a new set of true mates. Every book so far (4) has been captivating and I'm so excited to get the next book in the series to see who's the lucky character that will meet their one true mate and where their story will lead.
I really like this book. It was all about Peyton & Oliver’s relationship and I really liked them from the start. Oliver is such a great guy and good brother. He did so much for his brothers, it wonderful to see him have his happily ever after. Peyton is so sweet and really took to him & his family right away. Several really feel good moments without any angst. I plan to read this one again. I recommend!
I've enjoyed all her books so far. This one is nice, simple, and has a sweet HEA. You don't really get to know Peyton in the previous books, so it feels fresh. You get to see more into the Larken Pack and Luke as alpha. There's a bit of Hatfield and McCoy storyline here, but mostly in the previous generation. This feels like them sorting that mess out along with Peyton finding her true mate in Oliver. It's on my read again list.
So this was a different page than the others. There wasn't that danger factor like the others. It was actually more about healing and overcoming. Ollie was like the perfect wounded guy who did the right thing.
Such a great story and I like that Larken pack was brought some help too.
This was a wonderful story. The boy from the wrong side of the tracks and the princess. He thought they had nothing in common and he could never bring her down to his level. She knew he was her one true mate and she was impatiently waiting for him to realize it too. A great story. I loved how family-focused it was and I also loved the path that Peyton and Oliver had to walk.
A nice story about making a family out of love. It's easy to love a baby even if its not you own. You just feed them, change them, love them and protect them. Just the basics is what they need. Its what everyone needs. A little love and caring can go a long way.
The love story of Peyton and Oliver. Oliver works several jobs and he is losing them one by one. The first one lost was at grocery store when Peyton pass out. She is his true mate. Can a boy from the wrong side of the track be the true mate of a rich girl? Great story.
Omg 😮 this book 📖 didn’t disappoint 😊 I loved 😋 it and love the Collier Pact series so much ❤️ they are such a close knit family .....loving, caring and just so dam protective 🐺 ,these male wolfs 🐺are just dam good looking , gorgeous Alpha males yummy 😋 can’t wait for next one 👍🏻
Peyton Collier meets her mate at the grocery store but Oliver doesn't know what's happening. Oliver has raised his brothers and now his daughter but is her ready for Peyton and her family. Great 4th book in series.
I love the setup and continue version of each books! I couldn't help but continue to read the next situation! I could come back and remember what happened where I left off. Your wolf sagas was never boring at any point! !!
Wow!!! Great read!!! Bring tissues for sure. Peyton and Oliver are wonderful as they work through the baggage that comes with a new relationship. The family continues to grow and you can’t help but love all of them still.
Wow! What a heartwarming tale! Great addition to the series and covers so much territory! We really see all the family come together in this one! Makes for a great read!
Another Westin Collier packs book showing that you can't judge a person by their surroundings just like a book by its cover because you never know the good on the inside and when factions meet the strategic ideas to pull them all as one.
This is by far my favorite book in the series. So much love and acceptance. I could not put it down and again was pulling my hair out at the end. I definitely recommend this book and the series.
Peyton and Oliver were a special couple. Peyton knew early on that Oliver was her mate, but he stubbornly resisted the pull of mating. Wonderful story of loving the whole package. Will continue to read the series.
There was little drama! It was what would happen almost n in real life. I enjoyed how Oliver was.determinded.to care.for his brothers.and baby and was willing to change his ways to make it happen. This was the best of the.Collier pack story yet.
