'The Gun' is an excellent short story detailing the origins of 'The End Time Saga' series. Since I have listened to every episode of this series to date, it was a good reminder about how awful it was before people knew what was going on and how they could protect themselves. I loved Officer William De Young's character and how heroically he acted when he was under unbelievable direst.
Narrator Keith Szarabajka did an excellent job as the voice for this fast and action-packed novella. Looking forward the next full length addition to this tremendous series.

This origin story to The End Time series is an awesome addition that gives insight into the infection and subsequent apocalypse on American soil. Great characters. Highly recommended beginning of an action-packed series!

Loved this little short! Would definitely read more in depth with these characters. A perfect companion piece to the End Time Saga.

I loved this story. With each of his End Time novels I have finished them begging for more. Now I have the perfect appetizer to get me through until the next installment drops. The great thing about The Gun is you can read it anytime. So if you’re new to this series it won’t spoil anything, or if you’re completely caught up, it will only build on the incredible End Time foundation.

I would recommend this short story to anyone who loves suspense for the main reason that if you are on the fence or aren’t sure if this is for you - it’s a short story that takes no time to burn through and will definitely let you know that Daniel Greene is an author you should be following. Conversely, if you’re already a fan, this is a great deep look into one of our favorite characters. Do yourselves a favor and sink your teeth into this one!

I didn’t realize before I read ‘The Gun’ how much I was going to hope for an origin story for so many more of these characters! Who knew you could have so much character development in 80 pages or less?! It only took a few paragraphs for me to want more of these new characters and to be so invested in what is to come for them…although, if we’ve learned anything from Mr. Greene, it’s to not get too attached…

Great little side hustle from the main story about Tess. It was a nice deviation from the current situation in the series and without giving too much away, what I had previously though Tess was like pre-apocalypse was completely wrong. Very easy, enjoyable read that gives some welcoming information about the beginning of the end. Loved it!

The prequel to End Time. A sort of origin story, without patient zero. Rather we witness the outbreak of the zombacalypse in Grand Rapids, MI, which is what we all know is the true center of the walking dead universe.

The set up is a normal day-in-the-life structure, meeting our two protagonist detectives from Grand Rapid’s finest. One a grizzled veteran, the other an enthusiastic young’un. They encounter various related and unrelated events throughout the day, but the fan gets hit hard later in the afternoon. We’re left with the apparent crumbing of the world, and a local tweaked stuck in a police cruiser with a dead detective, surrounded by the undead, without the keys. Kind of a pickle if there ever was one. Or is it?

Onto book 1 of the series!

Find out what it would be like if you were an old-timer in the detective force, staying in your lane and hoping just to do your job when thrust into the first-responder mode of something the world has never seen before.

Before there were Steele, Mauser and Gwen - there were Bill, Cole and Tess. If you love the zombie apocalypse, and Daniel Greene's END TIME SAGA - then spend an hour on this short story to see how it all began.

One of my favorite passages - setting the tone for what it must have been like:

"The assailants didn't respond like they had just been shot. They hardly flinched under the impact of the powerful rounds..."

WOW … so this is my third monster book … this is also a short story, an origin story for The End Time Saga. I’ve never heard of this series. I need to check it out.

This old detective (Bill) just wants an easy road to retirement & now people are biting people. Is it a full moon or what?!

Feels a little dated but short & fun!

short story focused on old timer police Detective Bill DeYoung.
He is investigating a brutal murder, when more weird events happen.
The police station is attacked an overrun with bloodthirsty, mindless people.
Bill himself is bitten near the end if the to be continued story

You know.. this is a simple and short read. It was highly entertaining, moved at a good pace, and is pretty well written. There is this appreciation for short stories or novellas that leave out unnecessary bloat! I have several more of Daniel's books lined up and now I'm excited to get into them.

It started a bit slow, but it was necessary in order to build up to the action. I haven't read the series yet, but after finishing this, I will definitely be starting it soon. This provided an excellent sample to the authors skill and a good example of what will be in the series.

Took a long time before the zombies actually showed up. And then the story is over quickly. But nothing all that memorable or special about the story. It didn't make me anxious to go read the series.

I'm not especially fond of zombie stories, but this one was pretty good. It was a short story and story about a couple of characters trying to survive.

Daniel, you keep making a zombie apocalypse read like a real thing. that's creepy dude. But makes for good entertainment as this short story really helps paint a picture.

Its a detective short story that turns into a zombie apocalypse.
I found it ridiculous that the detectives didn't immediately recognise it for what it was.
OK for a car drive but little else. Sorry.

I really liked this book and was so hopeful the series would be great (disappoint came later). The story was short and to the point-survival. I love most books in this genre and I enjoyed this one.
