When I say “read” I mean sure I skimmed every chapter, and read some more deeply… my eyes passed over most of the words in every chapter. Idk man it’s a textbook what can I say 😂
Textbook for grad class — this was a thick text, literally and conceptually. If you have no background to Erickson’s development stages or the psychosocial approach, this is a very thorough and thoughtful exploration. For my needs, I was hoping for something that related more directly to how counseling conceptualizes and aids in coping with developmental challenges at each level - maybe a 2.0 version is what I was looking for, or the next step of, ok - so then what? There was one chapter on theory, but I wanted more of that application within each developmental level. The case examples and organization of the text were done well. It just left me with not enough application specific to counseling work for me. I was probably expecting something of it that it was never intended to do though.
