This volume showcases the work of the photographers who contributed to Life magazine and who have managed to grasp between them the expressive range of the human face. The pictures gathered together in this volumes are from more than half a million portraits that have appeared in the magazine since 1936. The photographers include Yousuf Karsh, Eve Arnold and Henri Cartier-Bresson.
John Loengard is a veteran LIFE photographer and an archivist of LIFE's illustrious history. He received the Henry Luce Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004 from TIme Inc.
This book is easy to read (light reading, I think) and full of emotions.
Those photos seem to be more powerful when you know stories behind them. There are some heart breaking photos, some funny photos, some strange photos… But they are all memorable.
My only complaint is a famous city in Vietnam - “Huế” was written as “Hué”. Come on ~
