Yet like his most famous screen character, Keyser Söze, he has remained a shadowy and mysterious figure, notoriously protective of his private relationships and giving few intimate interviews. Looking Closer, the first published biography of Spacey, explores the background and career of this enigmatic man. About the author

Robin Tamblyn is an English author, primarily of gay fiction. Robin was born in Watford, Hertfordshire and attended Liverpool John Moores University as a Screen Studies student from 1995-98. She currently resides in Exeter, Devon and is employed by the Rural Payments Agency as an administrative worker. Tamblyn has Asperger's Syndrome and self-identifies as a heteroromantic asexual. She was recently included in a Civil Service guide of “Inspiring LGB* Role Models."

Tamblyn is currently working on a follow up to "Looking Closer," provisionally titled "Dark Muse: Kevin Spacey, Fan Faction, and the Weinstein Effect." This will discuss the recent allegations of sexual harassment that have been made against Spacey as well as exploring how he inspired various characters in her works of fiction.

Трябва да призная, че Кевин Спейси никога не е бил от актьорите, чиято кариера с любопитство да преследвам. По-скоро е бил част от масата "чудесни роли на някакви рандъм хора". Тъй като често имам проблеми със запомнянето на лица, дори не съм убедена, че съм го гледала някъде.
Нямам точно определена представа защо ми се четеше и тази книга. Не беше точно каквото исках, защото звучеше някак твърде рекламна и превзета. Не бих я окачествила като част от добрите биографии, които съм чела, дори и да съм чела сравнително малко.

Probabilmente sono l'unica, o comunque una delle poche in Italia, a possedere questo libro. Questa biografia, scritta in inglese, ahimè non è stata pubblicata in Italia (oltre che in italiano), per cui ho dovuto reperirla dal Regno Unito tramite Amazon, ma ne è valsa davvero la pena. Sono riuscita a procedere nella lettura anche abbastanza speditamente, proprio perché contiene informazioni, aneddoti e curiosità su Kevin davvero inediti. Desideravo leggerla, lo ammetto, perché volevo reperire, senza brama, qualche informazione in più circa gli esordi, la vita privata e l'infanzia di Mr. Spacey, pur condividendo e rispettando che lui ne sia giustamente geloso; mi interessava inoltre captare delle sfumature circa la psicologia di questo attore geniale. Robin Tamblyn, con questa biografia, non ha assolutamente disatteso le mie elevate aspettative. Consiglio la lettura di questo libro a tutti coloro che, non solo apprezzano Kevin, ma che lo considerano il proprio attore preferito, alla luce della visione della sua eccelsa filmografia.

Заглавието и корицата са силно подвеждащи. Както авторът сам признава в началото, цялата информация, представена в книгата, е събрана от публично достъпни източници. Авторът не се е срещал или говорил с Кевин Спейси. Ако прекарате час в уикипедия, ще научите много повече за актьора. Две звездички, защото ако не желаете да прекарате час в уикипедия, все пак книгата предоставя бегла биография, събрана на едно място.
