Having ended the threat of his father's oldest enemy and the group he controlled, Clayton Sanders believes he can finally put his feet up a bit and relax. Figuratively of course, since there is no relaxing on a farm and ranch. But some peace and quiet will be greatly appreciated and welcome.
Too bad he won't get it.
With the remainder of his old team on their way, Clay starts to think he might be able to breathe easier. Sure, they did say they were running from a big problem out west, but that's out west, right? No reason to worry about that. True, there's still that nutty end times guy on the radio, but he's more comic relief than anything else at this point. Still, it does remind him that he has heard no news from outside their immediate area, forcing him to rethink his initial plans for isolation of the farm from others. On the whole, however, it seems that trouble is a distant problem for the moment.
But his friends find trouble much closer to home as they make their journey to join Clay and the rest at the ranch, uncovering a threat that Clay hadn't known existed. Their arrival also awakens old prejudices and attitudes that will lead to a fracture among the ranch residents, and that fracture will in turn bring vicious enmity among people who had been friends only days before.
That fracture will do what multiple attacks by greater numbers has failed to accomplish; divide a strong and independent group of survivors while taking their attention from the real threats to their safety, even as the farm takes the first steps in reaching out to others, attempting to help the town of Jordan to get on its feet, able to feed and defend itself once more.
After all they've been through, after all they've endured and dealt with, conflict from within may well be what breaks them. The damage that comes from within, friendly fire, could well do more to cripple them than anything that has come from outside thus far. One thing is universal it seems; friendly fire. . .isn't.

This entry is a little lighter on the action. It introduces several new characters and sets up for a new story arc with a new threat on the horizon.

JUST ONE GREAT BOOK AFTER ANOTHER BUILDING INTO WHAT CAN ONLY BE CALLED A GREAT SERIES
As far as books and series go, this book and series is just about as good as it gets. It's a story of family, friends, and at times strangers that are bound together in the battle of survival after the aftereffects of an solar flare that has taken out just about everything electrical and placed those that have survived the first few months to deal with everything from raiders, murderous tugs that are out to take everything from those that they can even if that's outright killing others in doing so.
This book is also very much about those few people that not only band together to survive but in doing so make sure that they help those who are willing to help themselves and those around them that they can, when they can, at times putting their lives and survival at a great expense. The Sanders' family and their group have taken upon themselves to help their local town try to get back on its feet but have gone as far as helping thir local town and community through getting them to start coming together to help themselves.
Fire From the Sky: Friendly Fire book six in this series by N.C. Reed is very well written, the characters are well defined and interesting, they for the most part, have very strong morals, and work ethics, with the compassion for others unless those others are bent and determined to cause harm to others.
I have truly enjoyed this book as well as the previous five books and this series, and I am really looking forward to book seven and the following books in this series. I hope you will find yourself enjoying this book as well as I have.

Incredible series
I started this series some time ago, dont remember why I stopped! I stumbled into the followon series about Parno. Fascinated by it. I wondered how it all came about, then remembered these books, and started all over again.
Mr Reed, no relation, has put together a shitpot of great books. While there are miniscule errors (just for grammer nazi's), he has written an awesome story covering hundreds of years. All after a massive solarstorm predicted by a witchman in deep Africa.
No one will ever call the Sanders family perfect, lawful or great public figures. They resemble a clan in deep rural Tennessee. Along with a group of former special forces type soldiers who spent years deeply embedded in shitspots all over the world. Why? Clay Saunders, former Lt who led these men all those years.
Buckle up, lots of action, intrique, strong language and massive heavy violence.
Thank you Mr Reed, great job.

I have read the ninth book and I need more
I have adored this series. I feel I’m in the Sanders farm and I know everyone personally. I smile at the remarks made to one another, I cringe when I know something someone is about to say and I just overall love the characters. The storyline has not faltered, it has not bored me one iota in the whole 9 books. That says a lot. I do not skip paragraphs or fast read as I immensely enjoy every word written. I can not wait until this next book and I can honestly say I could read another nine in this series and not get bored. What a brilliant writer.

Number 6 is just as good...
I've written reviews for all of the books so far and I have a hard time believing that someone, reading a review of #6 of 14, might decide to read this book. However, like the previous 5, this one is excellent. The story is thoughtful and real and interesting. It's still impossible to keep all the characters straight -- sorry but there 70+ I think. I just go with it and eventually, I figure out who it is...usually.
There are more typos in this volume than there should be but aside from that it's worth the read.

Another great read from NC Reed
Took me a few days to get started after I downloaded the book but as soon as I started reading I was lost in the story. Mr. Reed’s books continue to get better. I was a little concerned after reading the Amazon book description about the internal friction but after reading the story I was less concerned. Looks like we’re set up for a major battle in the next installment. I definitely Will be looking forward to that read.

Awesome
I have just finished reading book 6. This series is one of the best series I've read in this genre. I have read other books that had zombies and at first expected to find them in this book. What's so compelling about this series is that even without the walking dead mankind can turn into mindless monsters on their own.
Mr Reed I hope you continue to write more books in this series. I will definitely buy them.

Wonderful new entry in a great series
When I fall in love with a series, I look forward to and dread a new book in that series. I can't wait to enjoy the new book and at the same time, I worry that it won't be up to the standards of the previous stories. N.C. Reed has done a fantastic job with all the tales on the Fire From the Sky series but the latest entry has raised the bar even higher. I am already looking forward to the next installment.

Good but...
Like other 3 star reviews have mentioned there was way too much conversation about the lesbian couple, similar to the previous novel when Clay talked for pages about no one listening to him. I've skipped alot of pages these last two books. Lots of new characters to remember (too many) and the Brick and his brother X story just kind of dropped outta sight. And yet when it was good it was very good. Sometimes shorter is better.

Another winner
This series is one of the best I've read and I read a lot. Characters that you grow to love and a story line that won't let you stop reading until the book is finished. I check every day on my kindle for the next book it's just that good. Only bad thing is waiting on the next one to come out. Love this series

NC Reed is rapidly becoming a must-read author. This series is full of rich characters dealing with serious issues and concerns often overlooked in disaster planning

Held my attention till the end
This one of those books that you don't want to put df down to sleep - you have to see what is coming next- for those of you who have been here from the beginning you can see the development in the story line and get a glimmer of where this may go - can't wait for the next one

Thoroughly Enjoyable
Latest installment in the series is worth it! Good to meet some of the guys from Clay's team. The background on various people at the farm really opens many possibilities. Having a antagonist with a personal interest brings a new twist to a potentially over used theme in this setting. Can hardly wait for the next one!

Wow best series ever
I don't care what anyone says I love the characters the southern accents. The explanations on how to do stuff to survive. I went threw these books and am going to store them for a reread. I absolutely love this series N.C. Reed. Hurry up July 18th so I can read number seven.

Never Ending Trials
Surviving is a full time, twenty-four hour a day on taking. It is no different for all of the people that call the Sanders Farm home. Some come and some go, new people join the group and some die. It takes everyone to pull together to make this community the ability to live.

Good
Another great addition to the series. I like that they're not just non-stop killing like too many of this type of book are. Likeable characters, and even the ones I dislike seem real, which doesn't always happen.
The things they're going thru aren't necessarily all good, but the book is entertaining and keeps me looking forward.

Wow
I was looking for something new to read, and stumbled upon this series. It's a whirlwind ride for sure and worth the wait for book six, Friendly Fire. I can't say enough about this series. Get ready to lose sleep because when you start it you won't stop.

Waited for this one
Mr Reed has this genre down flat; no one better. His books hold the top 7 spots out of my top 10 (Odd Billy Todd #1). Happy to recommend the while series, wish I had just found them.

I cannot say enough good things about this series! The writing is smooth and realistic, the characters are so realistic that you almost feel like you know them, and the story is riveting. I mean really riveting.

Couldn't Stop Reading
These books are fast moving, a great story and realistic. Lucky I am retired so I could keep reading but my house was not cleaned and other daily chores were neglected. Loved these books! Waiting for Book 7!!

Book 5
Fire in The Sky: Friendly Fire grabs your attention and keeps you reading and reading. The author has done a fabulous job of keeping his book interesting and fresh. I usually only read the first 2-3 books in a series. I get bored quickly. Not so with this book.

Character development was very good but the story fell way short of the action needed to maintain one’s interest. I do not fell that enough interest is developed to make one to continue on with the series.
