Now, how to keep her investigation from the handsome inspector?***Indigo Eady is a reluctant ghost whisperer, but she’s grown quite attached to Franny Bishop, a former Victorian ghost madam of some repute. Franny’s afterlife makes Indigo’s life look like she has one foot in the grave. Much to Indigo’s chagrin, Franny is determined to find her a man. After all, there are plenty of handsome men around ripe for the picking, and Franny’s an expert. In the meantime, Indigo and Franny have murders to solve.
Gwen Gardner writes clean, cozy, lighthearted mysteries with a strong ghostly element. Since ghosts feature prominently in her books, she has a secret desire to meet one face to face – but will run screaming for the hills if she ever does. Her lifelong love of books and reading transitioned naturally into a love of writing, where adventure can be found around every corner—or up a dark alley or a down slippery cobblestoned path. She thinks there’s nothing better than a good mystery (being an excellent armchair detective herself), unless it’s throwing a ghost or two into the mix just to “liven” things up. Don’t worry, though. Ghosts may be difficult to keep in line, but they’re harmless—mostly. And it turns out they’re pretty good sleuths, too.
With seven novels and various short stories published, Gwen’s work is always moving toward the next creative venture. To find out more about her writing journey, check out her News page or blog.
Gwen holds a BA degree in English Literature from San Diego State University, is a member of Sisters in Crime, an organization for women crime writers, as well as Untethered Realms, a collaborative group of speculative fiction writers.
Gwen adores travel and experiencing the cultures and foods of different countries. She is always up for an adventure and anything involving chocolate – not necessarily in that order.
Indigo Eady is desperate for a job. Finding a ghost thief can't be that difficult, right? A spirit is lurking around the Sabrina Shores Theatre, and things are getting dangerous. Her friends are there to help, but all her secretive investigating are putting the handsome inspector's suspicions on her. Can Indigo solve the mystery before she ends up as a ghost in the theatre too?
A wonderfully written cozy mystery that I ate up with a grin. I've read the Afterlife series, and so I'm familiar with Indigo and her friends, but this book can stand alone. I admire Indigo's heart and determination. I loved seeing how she's grown and eager for what's to come. I'm a huge fan of Franny, her ghost friend, especially with her trying to pick up on the modern slang and her methods of investigating! There are some clever twists to the plot and I was on the edge of my seat at the end.
Back in Sabrina Shores, Indigo Eady needs a source of income. Enter good friend Badger and cousin Simon who introduce Indigo to a local theatre company which has been haunted by a series of ghostly thefts. Indigo's task is to convince the prankster to knock it off and cross into the light.
I wanted to like this book, but the story was full of inside knowledge, leaving me feeling like an intruder. Additionally, the English folk seemed rather American, as did the town's name "Sabrina Shores". And, if there has to be a helper ghost, why must it always act so childishly?
Indigo can see dead people. After years of traveling, she returns home and recommend with friends. Together they investigate strange happenings at a theater. This book was enjoyable and I look forward to reading others in the series.
Captivating characters, both worldly and other worldly, i.e., Interesting mix of ghosts and live humans. The storyline was good and the storytelling was great.
An enjoyable way to spend a few hours, Indigo Eady (interesting name. Is there a story behind the name?) was fun to meet.
This was a fun read. I liked how Indigo's ghost communication skills reminded me of Ghost Whisperer. This also reminded me a bit of being part of stage crew. I enjoyed how the characters teamed up to solve the mystery.
I received this book as a freebie in return for an honest review. This was a fun mystery. Indigo Eady sees dead people and is hired to find the ghost haunting a theatre. Then the fun begins.
This is a fun cozy mystery featuring a likable amateur sleuth, Indigo Eady, and her hilarious sidekick, Franny, who was a Victorian madam before her passing and now appears in ghostly form. I loved the interactions between Indigo and Franny as they set out to solve the mystery at hand, especially when Indigo tries to teach Franny current English slang and phrases and when Franny tries to meddle in Indigo's love life. If you enjoy your mysteries with a paranormal twist and humor, you'll love A Scandal in Boohemia.
