Noah Goldstein is a protege of Cialdini's. He is an assistant professor at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. He earned a Ph.D. in psychology under Robert Cialdini at Arizona State University in 2007, and he has published research with Cialdini in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.
If Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion is the textbook, then Yes! is the study guide. This has a ton of practical examples on how to apply the principles of persuasion developed by Robert Cialdini. You definitely want to read Influence first to understand what's actually occurring in the scenarios presented in this book.
I imagine if I'd read this book when it first came out, then I'd have been bowled over. However, many of the tools in here feel obvious in 2020 and not particularly surprising. That's not to say there aren't some nuggets of gold in this - I have possibly read too much behavioural science to be truly wowed.
Fantastic Book - this updated is highly recommended
This book is a goldmine of information. Although the strategies could be used for unethical purposes, by being aware of them, we can protect ourselves. This was my reasons for reading it. Not only is it full of great information, it also has the evidence to back it up. I would give this book a; A+++
I loved the original, with 50 secrets. But it's been about ten years since I read that, so decided to read this one. I rated the original 5 stars, but I don't recommend this to those who read the original. It felt like retreading old ground.
Not nearly as good as ”Influence” but still interesting dive in social behaviour and science of persuasion. If you are selling something (product, service, idea), this will be useful read.
