“Consider me a therapist of sorts… one that wields a different set of tools.”
Vampire and dominatrix at Oklahoma City’s local vamp club, The Two Points, Eris offers a glimpse into her life and her hidden motivations for her chosen career.
Previously published in Women of the Dark Streets , by Bold Strokes Books, 2012.
Winter Pennington is the author of the Kassandra Lyall Preternatural Investigator Series. She is an avid practitioner of nature-based spirituality and enjoys spending her spare time studying mythology from around the world. The Celtic path is very close to her heart. She has an uncanny fascination with swords and daggers, and a fondness for feeding loud and obnoxious corvids. In the shadow of her writing, she has experience working with a plethora of animals as a pet care specialist and veterinary assistant. She currently resides in Oklahoma.
The prequel to Kassandra Lyall Preternatural Investigator Series. A short story about the relationship dynamics between Eris, a prime Eros vampire and Zaphara of the Daoine Maithe.
Take the cover for what you will, but a BDSM story this is not. There is mention of a whipping but nothing on page. The one brief sex scene is very tame, of course, that could be subjective.
I did like the vampire slant. And this book had the desired effect. It prompted me to check out more work by this author. I like her style.
At only 4000 words this is a very quick read.
NOTE to self - Copy purchased from Bold Strokes Books website.
This is not a super good example of her work, though it was good enough for me to check out the rest of her works when I originally read it in Women of the Dark Streets: Lesbian Paranormal. Actually that particular book had me checking out most of the authors that are featured in it.
This is a bit of a side story to one of the side characters in the main story for Witch Wolf, and it's subsequent novels in the `Kassandra Lyall Preternatural Investigator Series`. At the very least, it is worth the read. The books for Kassandra are far more interesting, at least for me, and enough so that I always religiously check back to see if she has published any further books.
This just adds a bit more background to the world of Kassandra Lyall. As it has been noted, those expecting whips and chains will be disappointed-ish.
More Background for another series than a true story in itself. Eris is a character in the novel Witch Wolf by the same author. This short story gives a bit more info on her character, but on it's own it's not that interesting. You'll probably enjoy this short story more as a companion to her other novel.
It’s been too long since I’ve read the books hat this one ties into. I might have to reread those books again... but the synopsis implies that this would bdsm.... or at least a little bit annnnnd it was not. Everything is kind of vague and nonspecific and you aren’t my really sure what’s going on? I remember Pennington’s books being more detailed than this...
