"God Level Summoner" This story is about a god level player, Li Cangyu, who returns to the game Miracle after being away for several years. The story explores him playing the game and setting up a team in an attempt to finally win a trophy in the Miracle Professional League.
When I wrote my review on The Strongest God, I expressed my desire to see a satisfying ending for Cat God/Li Cangyu (MC) because among all the characters in TSG, he has the most unfavorable career until the end. I love his character's personality so much in TSG even though he only appeared quite a few times. I didn't expect that the sequel would be about him and his final push to achieve his dream. It was really a pleasant surprise.
I think I loved this novel a tiny bit more (0.5 rate difference) than The Strongest God. TSG and GLS both have an almost 400 chapters but I really felt like TSG is a lot longer because it has some dragging chapters. In the TSG, the building of the new team and recruitment of the members happened in the first quarter to almost halfway of the novel and the main competition itself in the last half revolved in just one regular season. Imagine how a single season of competition was stretched in 200+ chapters, it really dragged a bit sometimes. On the other hand, GLS not only included the recruitment of the team members and one regular season competition, it also has the World Competition so it doesn't seemed dragging at all. But regardless, both novels are great!!
Just like TSG, this novel only has a romantic subplot and it focused on the actual e-sports competition. I love that both Li Cangyu (MC) and Ling Xuefeng (ML) are god-level players and has their own OPness, but they don't always win. And even if they lose a match, it didn't affect their reputation as a great god. This novel is actually my first e-sports novel where the MC and ML are in different teams. I usually read the main couple being in the same team and reading this was kind of refreshing. It's so good to see the MC and ML being competitive with each other but also care about each other at the same time. They both have this captain demeanor in front of other people and only showed their softness in front of each other. They have this incomparable tacit understanding and it makes them the best rivals in the league, as well as the best lovers. And what I find hilarious about their relationship? It was whenever Li Cangyu, the actual shou in the couple, called Ling Xuefeng his 'wife' and thought for a long time that he's going to be the top in the relationship, only to get flabbergasted when he got pinned down and was entered from behind LMAO I always burst out laughing whenever he has this thought of 'eating his wife' and I was like, "wife? yeah right!" Though the main story was not focused on the romance of the main CP and side CPs, each of the couples has their own extra chapters/small arc after the main story. The extra chapters fed me a loooot of dog foods and the initial lack of romance was solved in those chapters.
There's one more novel left in the series that I haven't read and I've learned that the apprentices of Li Cangyu and Ling Xuefeng, the little princes Qin Mo and Xiao Han, are the next MC and ML. I'm so excited for that!
This novel is totally worth of my time. I highly recommend this for those into e-sports novels. My only wish is to discover more novels like this in the future. No heavy angst and it's a complete stress reliever for me.
I feel like I walked into this novel totally unprepared. I was originally expecting just a general gaming novel with a lot of cool and intense action scenes (which I definitely got over the progress of the novel), but I didn't expect such amazingly lovable characters with some great BL romance throughout the book. Almost every character in the book felt very real and personable which made it all the better whenever any of the group was together. Along with this, along the game itself wasn't the absolute best explain, it was very exciting and had the reader rooting for the team through every win and loss right from the start. Overall, it was a great experience and would recommend whether one likes gaming or not.
The novel actually is really sweet and also motivational. Li Cangyu is a great mc and it is very satisfying to see how, after so many years of bad luck, he achieves all of his dreams. Another thing that is really great about this novel are the relationships. They're actually about equal and the shou wasn't forced to do anything he didn'twant to by the gong. The author also seems to care about consent, which sadly is rather rare in chinese novels, so this certainly is a positive point. All in all, I enjoyed this book a lot even after reading it a second time.
Oh, the side couples were also very enjoyable end exiting to read.
Rating: 5/5- An exciting, world wind journey that finally got me into esports! Absolutely wonderful!
So I remember dropping the novel “You Boys Play Games Well” and “Vanguard of the Eternal Night” for the sole reason that I could not get into an esports novel. This book completely changed my mind. I will probably revisit them now that I’m on the esports wave.
I was hooked after the first few chapters and as much as it’s quite a long read at almost 400 chapters, it’s such an addictive read. I personally liked the pacing and detail and that a lot of attention was given to the characters and the journey from losers to winners. The characters are so likeable and the gaming lingo doesn’t really corrupt the flow especially if you’re a newbie when it comes to esports.
I loved how the matches were unpredictable and that the characters weren’t OP but realistic and flawed. All the CPs were super cute and the main story wasn’t to heavily impacted by the romance (you get to indulge in the CPs in the extras).
I loved Lou Wu Shuang and Zhang Shao Hui. They were my favorite CP because I love a tsundere and puppy. I also really like the Shu Bai CP and Su Yin CP. Aaaah the CPs were just too cute man!
But back to the story, I personally enjoyed the story and the journey of not giving up. The way the author tells the story is quite interesting, as it always feels warm and nostalgic and you always feel so connected to the characters.
This book is definitely worth the read and it’s definitely one of my favorites. I will probably not shy away from esports novels after this and am looking forward to reading the novel that follows after this one about Qin Mo and Xiao Han.

I don't really have much to say, it was an enjoyable read. The author didn't go too much into details with the e-sports which I appreciate because I would probably start to fall asleep. It did feel repetitive at times, but for the most part each game was different because of the type of person the mc is, which I appreciated. The results of the matches were somewhat predictable, however the matches themselves weren't.
I always find it funny how in bls, none of the couples are straight, it's like it's a rule. There were like 6 fleshed out relationships and they were all gay lol. Don't get me wrong I am not complaining, it was just something I didn't notice until now. Relationships were not the focus, so they weren't all that developed and were very much built on cliches. I only liked 2 couples including the main couple.
— mc and ml are both captains of different team, ain't that interesting — rivals on the field, partners off it 🤌🏼 — peak e-sports vibes — team-building is so satisfying. watching mc gather new players, mentor them, and turn an underdog squad into a legit threat?? peak — romance is soft as hell. no drama, no miscommunication, just two adults with mutual respect, strong friendship, and steady emotional support. — side cps?? adorable. fluffy, fun, and full of banter. each couple has their own flavor and the balance never feels forced. — read if you like pro gamer brain-rot, soft romance, found family teams, esports glory, calm badass MCs, and a doting ML
Loved it so much. Cat God is the best. Loved that the main CP was such a healthy relationship (unlike some of the side CPs, YIKES, can we please not with the stalking uninterested people into a relationship and making them 'prove' that a relationship won't work - no one owes you a test run relationship D: ). Can't 5 star due to some highly problematic side CPs.
Up to 60% is easily 4⭐ The plot was well constructed, and the author managed to strike a good balance between the game aspect and the inter-personnel relationship between the different characters, which I found so funny and lovable. It was really a sweet fun read.
Unfortunately, the rest (aka the international arc) didn't live up to expectations. It was ruined by too much repetition, xenophobia, sexism and stupid boasting. Which amounts to several hundred pages of rubbish!! The World Competition arc was simply a big disappointment. While I did expect the miraculous wins, and I was ready for the OP characters, no matter how unreasonably delivered, I. couldn't. stand. the. rest.
