I received this copy of Personalized Murder by Jeffrey Holt as an advance review copy. I had never heard of Jeffrey Holt and had no idea of what to expect when I received this ARC. One reason I do ARCs is that I love to discover awesome unknown writers and Jeffrey Holt is a gem. The story Personalized Murder opens with the president-elect dropping dead during his swearing in ceremony, then his immediate successor, the vice president, drops dead after being sworn in as president which led to the Speaker of the House becoming president. Then a former chief justice drops dead. Autopsies say that they all died of natural causes, but the new president and many other characters believe that their deaths were brilliant assassinations. What remains a mystery is how and by whom they were carried out. Halfway through this read and the body count keeps mounting up with no one any closer to figuring out how these murders are being committed. The one thing that has become clear is that the democrats seem to be the targets. Well, all except for one republican who appears to be the victim of a copycat killer. All the other deaths appear to have been caused by the victims underlying medical conditions, so the question becomes how did the person or persons committing these murders use those underlying conditions to bring about the victims death?

This story is packed with medical terminology that the average reader will not be conversant with. At some points, like during the autopsy of Justice Richardson, the description becomes nothing but one medical term after another, which makes reading those passages slow because the reader is forced to stop reading to Google the unfamiliar terms or, if he or she is like me, reach for their copy of Merriam-Webster’s medical dictionary. This awesome read is a mini-course i, they appear to be a handbook on how to perform a forensic autopsy. I loved the details, but some readers may find it overwhelming. Everything works because the author himself is a doctor and a professor of medicine.

As the trail of bodies span the country and the world—there are over 200 casualties—the first clue how the murders are being committed is discovered with the help of the CDC. With less than a dozen pages left in the book, the way the murders are committed is discovered, the weapon used is revealed and it will blow you way. It’s ingenious. With less than a dozen pages left to the end, we still don’t know who is behind these dastardly deeds. When the villain is revealed...well, read this awesome thriller to find out who he/she is.

First, I want to thank Jeffrey Holt for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

Jeffrey Holt totally blew my mind with Personalized Murder. I’m not usually a fan of Political Thrillers-however- with the storyline that involves everything in a book I could not turn it down! It is fast paced reading from the start, incredible characters, mystery, suspense, medical aspect, jaw dropping multiple murders that will shock you, and a personal look into the families that run our country. This is a must-read book.

This book to me was more of a Medical Mystery/Thriller with a sub-genre of political. Political being that the main characters were all Presidents, First Ladies, their families, etc.

Jeffrey immediately inhaled me into the story and captured my attention. The words on my kindle were jumping out at me as if I were seeing this on the big screen someplace. In fact, thinking about it this book would make for a great movie on the big screen. I could mentally see this happening in my head unfolding like a movie.

Having a medical background, I had a better understanding of the medical lingo in the book. I could appreciate that aspect of the book more. I do have a love for Medical Thrillers as well. One reason I agreed to this book.

There are some incredibly strong characters in this book. Some, I don’t know what I would have done if put in their shoes. Others, I wanted to reach out and give them a hug. Many were put in situations they had no control over. One thing is for sure Jeffrey Holt is the master of character development in this genre.

One thing I loved what Jeffrey did was he gave us a look beyond what the media usually shows us. He took us into the human aspect of it. Ever wonder how the children feel about moving into The White House? Read this book and find out Jeffrey’s take on it.

I am very glad that I took a chance on Jeffrey Holt’s book. He Is a phenomenal story teller.

This thrilling book by Jeffrey Holt was driven by both a political desire and economic greed spun into a multiple-victim murder story. I must say I was very surprised at the ending solution, which of course I will not disclose. The characters' emotional well-being was left tattered and torn along the way, as the number of deaths continued to rise from the pandemic. The importance of family and living today as if it were your last, as well was emphasized more than once during the story. The story also told of the oft-repeated battle between science and mathematics in the attempt to solve this mysterious puzzle. This is a voluntary review of an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Hidden Gems Books.

Thank you to the author for reaching out to me asking to review this and this review is of my own opinion.

I did enjoy the book and it was very interesting to see who the author told this story. The book opens great with a series of deaths. It did strike me as a "CLUE" type book. Like - who done it. It is race against the sickness and disease to make sure they can survive. The concept is very good, and It is a strong 4 strong book. The plot was strong and I did very much enjoy the characters.

If you are looking for a good crime/mystery/thriller book! Try this one out.

Not since Robin Cook burst upon the Medical/thriller writer scene with “Coma,” has a book kept me up so late at night. Dr. Holt grabs the reader on page one and doesn’t relinquish his grasp until the exciting conclusion. Such a realistic depiction of wielding lethal political power the premise and characters both are horrifyingly plausible. The author creates a incredibly realistic world in which absolute power reigns absolutely!

Positively LOVED this book, was bereft when it was over; but what an engaging, wild ride and a satisfying ending! More books, Dr. Holt, stat!!

An action packed story that is terrifying, specially in times of Corona virus. How can wicked minds create a way to kill people and get away with it as if people were dying of natural causes ? And they were doing it only for power and mainly for money. The book got me hooked and I enjoyed reading it. I do hope that we are far away of having the sort of technology that allows killing in the way described in this book.
I received a copy of this book through Hidden Gems in exchange for an honest review.

I received this book from the author in exchange for this review.
It is fast paced and intriguing. A great how done it plus who done it. The ending is a total surprise. Completely original and totally different from the ho hum serial killers who always kill in the same boring way. In this book Dr Holt has complainers and troublemakers each die in a different way, because of their greatest weakness. An exciting thriller from start to finish with a great ending. Im looking forward to the next book in the series. Thanks for a great read
