Love and Hip Hop… The two mix together smoothly like Hennessy and Coke. Harmony used to love love. She loved the idea of being in love. As a result, Valentine’s Day was her favorite holiday…was. Now, she hated the very thought of it. Cody had ruined it for her and any chance of her ever falling in love again. He ruined it so much that when she met Dallas, she didn’t trust him to lead her to fall in love with love again. On Valentine's Day, Dallas experienced the biggest loss of his life. He ignorantly assumed that life couldn’t get any worse. Yet, as they say, if you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans. God must have been cracking up at Dallas’ plans because Dallas soon found himself completely lost for a year… until he met Harmony. She was perfect, yet Dallas was beyond flawed and at the lowest part of his life. He should have been honest with her when he’d first met her. Instead, he only proved to her that men couldn’t be trusted. Meanwhile, Caine, Dallas’ best friend, plays a big role in how Dallas’ life constantly finds misfortune. Unfortunately, Dallas will not see that his right-hand man is the problem until it is too late. Jocelyn, Caine’s wife, is losing at love, while Harmony thinks she is winning. All of Caine’s indiscretions are finally revealed, and Jocelyn is forced to choose whether she will continue to turn the other cheek for the sake of having everything she always wanted. Harmony and Dallas fell into each other’s lives when they needed each other the most. Dallas x Harmony

This book started off good, but by just over half of the book I was ready for it to end and then the ending just felt thrown together.

The cover and title set the stage for an erotica and this in fact was NOT that. I didn't care for any of these characters. Harmony was a hypocrite and was all over the place with her feelings. She was in love, but had someone on the side? Ok ma'am.  Dallas...was a liar. After helping Caine get out of a mess I get that he was embarrassed, but to flat out misrepresent your entire life...sir? Then he was so childish with how he handled that situation. They both were broken from previous relationships and could have related, but that wasn't tapped into at all. Their love wasn't believable to me  🤷🏾‍♀️

Jocelyn, I really could not stand her. Her main focus was to have a family, regardless of the treatment she received from the man that was supposed to give her a family. Be fking fr girl. Caine, her husband and Dallas's best friend was a selfish snake. He was on some real bs from beginning to end. He was living a completely single life while married and Jocelyn was accepting until she finally let go. She really needed to chill on dating... because this mess she had going on with Dre whom I guess had a change of heart 🥴 like no.

The first half of the book struggled grammatically, but got better towards the second half. The ending was just odd. Why introduce Dallas's son, but never have a scene with him? Like it seemed to just be something to speak to. No interaction at all. Overall, it lacked cohesion to me and didn't live up to the title of the book at all.

What’s better that 1 of your favorite narrators on an audio book? 3!!! Jakobi, Wesleigh, Nicole Small and Cary did not disappoint bringing Say my F*ckng name to life. I’m not quite sure what the name of the book had to do with the actual story but it was a good story nonetheless. A good and messy one.

What do you do when you are set to marry the love of your life only for him to never show up to the alter. And when you find out that the reason why was because he was in a car accident with his side bxitch, you’re left to pick up the pieces of your broken heart. That was the memory Harmony had to associate with Valentine’s Day.

Dallas had everything that he could have ever imagined in life. The love of his life and a son on the way were just the icing on the cake until one tragic day completely turned his world upside down. And to add insult to injury, much of his heartache and pain came at the hands of his so called friend Caine.

Jocelyn was a successful business owner and only wanted the simple things in life; to be a successful wife and mother growing both her business and family but there was one thing stopping her, her husband Caine couldn’t keep it in his pants.

Caine ultimately destroyed everything he touched and everyone he knew. I honestly don’t know how Jocelyn and Dallas allowed him to continuously play in their faces.

This was a crazy world wind of a story and definitely held my interest until the end.

Relatable?

I did enjoy this book and was thankful for it being one book instead of to be continued hell. I loved Dallas because the character reminded me of my brother. He has a past but strived to do and be better.

I gave the book 3 stars because it bothered me that a day one friend couldn't just explain things and ask for help. The day one could do this very thing during the drunken car accident, but not to save family? Why would Dallas need to be killed? I'm trying not to give the plot away, but I can't see how any of that last part made since.
Another question. Why would a man who does not want children or marriage, and is adamant about both, have unprotected sex? Ever? And why would a woman who is desperate for babies and knows when she ovulates, be surprised that she is pregnant? I relate to Jocelyn and know in life, we are not cookie cutter people, but I always knew.

Overall, it was a good read for me with a few hiccups.

Out of heartbreak came love!

Harmony became Dallas' refuge and strength and he in turn healed her hurt and restored her faith in love and happily ever afters! Poor Jocelyn had been through so much with Caine she deserved love, Dre turned out to be just what she needed. Caine was a really selfish person and ultimately he met his own demise! I really enjoyed reading this novel!

I truly enjoyed this book. Came was the epitome on keep your enemies close. He got everything he deserved. Harmony had been through so much. I wanted to see her ex beg for her but it wouldn’t have added anything more to the story.

When Harmony met Dallas, I just knew they were too broken to work out but I loved the story and the outcome.

This turn out to be a cute little love story with a valuable learning lesson. “Be careful of the company you keep” is what my mother always used to tell me. Understanding Dallas loyalty to his child hood friend is a reality in so many communities.

Good drama slightly disappointed

I will be honest I was drawn to this book based off the cover because I mean look at it. There was so much drama in this book OMG. Poor Harmony got her heart broken on her wedding day but from the brief history it sounds like she would have been settling anyway. I was glad to see that her struggle to accept Dallas’s secrets was relatable and not a cliche “oh its okay baby I understand” response.

Dallas story tugged at my heart strings, I felt for him he was dealt a bad hand and I was rooting for him. I am a sucker for a damaged man with potential. I enjoyed his redemption story and how he got himself together after doing time even though his situation could have taken him back to the streets. I hated how loyal he was to Caine’s grimy ass. No matter what messed up situation Caine put him in he had his back. I was so happy he finally saw him for who he was. Caine got his karma in the end and I did not feel for him at all.

Jocelyn ass was getting on my nerves, I was so over her until she finally got fed up and stood on her own to walk away from Caine. I mean she just let Caine make her look like a fool. I get her reasonings for wanting to stay but enough was enough. Her story was very relatable, as I am sure most people know at least one woman who stays and puts up with things she should never have to deal with all for the sake of love and family.

This was a good read but I almost didn’t get through it because there were so many grammatical errors, which is why I had to knock of a heart because I really wanted to give it 4 hearts. I kept thinking why is the word “had” in almost every other sentence, it got to be a bit annoying at times. I pushed through because the storyline was good but I am kind of leery to check out her other books. I listened to When My Soul Met a Thug and don’t remember that many errors but it could also be because it was an audible book. I may check out more of Jessica Watkins catalog eventually.

This book is listed as an erotica but I honestly didn’t see it as an erotica. Say my fucking name was probably only said like twice in the book, the sex scenes were good but his book was mostly about the drama and while the drama was good it was not an erotica in my mind so I was a little disappointed about that as well. But give it a read and let me know what you think.

Plot: 📖📖
Originality: 📝📝📝
Narration:🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️
Spice:🌶️
Action:👊🏽👊🏽
Troupe: hood romance
Triggers: domestic violence,

Chile, we have to reevaluate what we consider romance because this ain’t it. The spice isn’t that good either. I’m struggling to get through this book as it reminds me of love and hip hop. Grown men acting like little boys smashing anything with whole, making babies and making one stupid decision after another.

A LOT going on

I enjoyed this book, but felt like it could have been 2 books, one for each storyline (Harmony/Dallas and Jocelyn/Caine/Dre). I liked each story and the characters, it was just a LOT going on. None of it was bad. I would read this author again.

Please baby, please "say my f*cking name" over and over and over

This was such a good story, down to earth, not too fairytalish..... Kenneth "Dallas" and Harmony was so right for each other. They actually did complete one another, even though Dallas was letting thoughts of Mia come in too many times in his head....
Dallas was so human, so nice, so gentle with a little bit of hood in him and so selfless, but very unsecured after what happened to him. It was his first of many wake up calls and lucky for him, he had God with him... He lost everything, thought he was not going to get anything back when in truth, he received more than what he had before. Handsome, faithful, genuine, and very well endowed, he truly gave meaning to what and how a man is supposed to cater to his woman... Humm, I definitely wouldn't mind having a Dallas; shoot I would have even changed my name to Houston in a heart beat🙈🙊
Harmony, was well...not what the definition of her name stipulated... She was more like chaos than harmony,,and she was getting on my last nerve. Here's a female who found a good god fearing man, and all she could think about was how he was not giving her what her daddy had her being used to; hummm, s*it, go find daddy baby girl, and leave this good man for one who truly appreciate them. I mean she came back around, but man, how I wish she had gotten with Cody and she would have known what Jocelyn was feeling....
Speaking of Jocelyn, man she was so exceptional, so real, so what every "Jocelyn" out there is going thru, you could literally feel her pain, and Dre turned out to be the balm to smooth away all of her pain and taking care of all of her needs.
Caine, deserved to be suffering and not have giving such of a cop-out...
What was so good with this story was how four lives were being explored, it didn't feel as our main characters were ever put aside for less time. Everything felt right!!!
So in the famous line of this singer, "please me baby, turn around and tease me baby...let me hear you say, please, pleeeasee!"

A Hood Love Story

This book turned out to be a surprisingly sweet and engaging hood romance. By no means is this a negative take—just an honest reflection on how it landed with me as a reader who doesn’t typically gravitate toward this genre. I usually struggle with hood, street-lit, or mafia-inspired stories because the characters’ worlds are so far removed from my own, which can make it hard for me to fully connect. That said, I found myself drawn into Caine and Harmony’s journey. Their dynamic had a tenderness beneath the grit, and I enjoyed watching their relationship unfold against the backdrop of chaos.

The plot itself was compelling, keeping me flipping pages to see what would happen next. I especially appreciated the way the author used multiple POVs, allowing side characters to shine and add depth to the story. It gave me a fuller picture of the world and made the narrative feel more layered than I expected.

While hood/criminal/mafia romances aren’t usually my go-to reads, every now and then I like to step outside my comfort zone, and this book was a reminder of why it’s worth doing. It offered drama, emotion, and heart, all wrapped up in a story that balanced grit with sweetness. For readers who love this genre, I can see it hitting all the right notes. And for someone like me, who only “sips” this type of story from time to time, it was a satisfying read that kept me engaged from start to finish.

This book was a full speed sprint with not a moment of pause. Things went from bad to worst at warp speed. The villian in this book is Caine, that N*gga was just an awful human being and honestly I didn't even feel sorry for him. He was f*cking up everybody's lives with his BS. I though Jocelyn def was a strong woman for sticking to her guns and divorcing Caine after all the stress and mess he caused. Dre was the perfect man for her, I liked that he really romanced her, though he had to figure out what he wanted for a short period i was ecstatic that he got it together and snapped Joscelyn up. Harmony and Dallas were perfect together, In Dallas time of uncertainty Harmony was that bright light that made him want to be the man he was- even better - the best version of the man he was with his deceased wife mia. Harmony I def understood the caution that she had to get into another relationship with an ain't Sh*t man but i liked how she opened herself up. Now when she blew up on Dallas my heart hurt for both cause I understood both sides to it. But they got it together in the end and I was happy for them. I did listen to the audio and I liked and Jakobi and Wesleigh narrators as always, this was the 1st time I heard of Cary Hite and it was a no for me...but overall I loved liked the book

Harmony, Kenneth aka Dallas, Caine, Jocelyn

These characters reminded me of why I don't read a lot of Urban Fiction.

Harmony was lied to and cheated on, then ends up with another man who lies to her. Then she turns around and keeps company with someone else, just in case, while she is in a relationship with someone.

Dallas lies about who he is, and he is also one of the stupidest men I've read about in a while. You have a talent that could possibly better your circumstances, but you'd rather get back in the drug game instead?? Then you cling to a toxic friendship, going so far as to take a charge for this fool, when you just lost your wife and are now the father of a newborn. I didn't feel any sympathy for his situation.

Caine was just out for Caine. He was a user and abuser.

Jocelyn got what she deserved from Caine after years of letting him treat her the way he did. Why would he stop? You made it okay.

In the end I didn't feel sorry for anyone, but Mia. She had a husband that would prefer to go hang with his toxic friend instead of staying at home knowing she had complications with her pregnancy, and she was past her due date.

This book was a decent read. The story itself was good, but there were a few issues that took away from it.

*There were quite a few editing issues that made it had to understand certain parts.
*Name mixup’s. The client Tameka turned into Tracy in the same paragraph, which was very confusing. Not only was it confusing, but it should have been caught by the author or the editor.
* How they kept saying that Harmony had such odd shaped lips. It was annoying. Not only was it repetitive, but no matter how much they tried to make it seem like it was a good thing, it seemed like they were taking shots at her and it just didn’t make sense.
*Dallas’ trust in Caine was foolish and ridiculous. After going to prison for the man and constantly finding out how much he’d betrayed you, as well as others around him, he continued to deal with him. Then was surprised when the man tried to rob him. Make it make sense.

Overall it was an okay read. Not the best, but also not the worst. I give it a solid 3.5

This book made me all the feels!

Like wow! You go Jessica because you have me all the feels with this perfect stand alone. I love how real not only the characters and storyline were but also the emotions displayed. I swear I have known a woman like Joycelyn, heard of grimy cats like Caine and seen good men like Dallas get passed over by female I know. The relationship between Harmony and Dallas was what every day people go through. The inner feeling of these two was so relatable. I loved their struggles just as much as their rise. Its refreshing to see a book where the Male lead is not already the king of the street or whatever, Dallas was a regular dude with real s**t going against him like most of the brothers in our society. And like most queens we love these brothers but struggle with sticking by them through the odds stacked against them but that's what I loved about this story the most...BLACK LOVE!

Great Read

I've read a couple of books from Jessica Watkins and I must say I've yet to be disappointed. Cain is the epitome of a f✳❇k boi. He has no morals or respect for anyone. He would smash anything like he didn't have a wife and kid at home. Not only was he cheating, he was making babies and trying to be a jack boy. What took the cake is when he drew down on his A1. He deserved that bullet through the dome even if it was an accident. Dallas was a good dude and he kept letting Cain take his kindness for a weakness. I'm glad Dallas and Harmony worked everything out because they need each other. From they betrayal she endured from Cody to Dallas losing his wife, son and freedom. They healed each other. Jocelyn took alot of Cain BS and she didn't deserve it. I was glad when she finally walked away from him and found a real man in Dre.💙💙

Harmony found out her fiance was cheating on their wedding day. Making her hate Valentine’s Day. A year later she meets someone not really with intentions of being too serious but finds out some major things he was keeping from her.

Dallas just lost his wife during child birth and ended up in jail after taking the fall for a car accident that lead to someone dying. He spent a year in jail and lost his son to the maternal grandparents. Since he doesn’t have the same street connects he decides to try his hand in music.

Jocelyn s married to Cain, but he has cheated on her for the last time when one of his hoes doesn’t know her place.

Cain cheating goes deeper than anyone knows and he got himself in trouble in the streets and become real desperate to make money.

Lots of up and downs. I enjoyed the story. Even though there was a lot of hypocrisy lmao.

A true Gem!

Jessica’s delivery in the book was very clear... leave no stones unturned. The characters in the story all shared a common issue; Caine! This dude took betrayal, deceit, and drama to another level. The things that Dallas experienced would’ve made the average man crumble, but he remained driven and loyal even to those who didn’t deserve him. I was so happy for harmony! I felt bad for Joycelyn, but I was so happy that she stood her ground. She whipped Dre into shape. Overall, as a reader, I love books I can identify with. Jessica really have a way with opening her readers eyes and dropping gems when least expected. Although this is fiction, i believe the message was clear; love while you can because at the blink of an eye, it could all change! Kudos, Jessica.

WOW!!! This book took me on a roller coaster of emotions. Can you ever imagine the ultimate betrayal from your day one, your beat friend, your homie and rider? Not only did Dallas’s boy, Caine, betray him; he lied and cheated his way through everything in life - his marriage and his business.

I loved how she developed Dallas’ story. Here’s a man that was a hustler, at least he thought he was. That caught a bad break in life - losing his wife, son and freedom. He returned to the scene hoping to return to the hustle to be sidetracked by his God-given talents and finding live after loss.

Harmony and Jocelyn like so many women have “ideals” of what should be and are afraid of the very real love right in front of them.

Awesome read!

Name Said

Took me a while but I finished. This was a pretty good read, sex scenes were detailed, the fake love and jealousy was real. Caine is the perfect description of a f*#k boy. I'm glad the author did not make these women settle, especially Jocelyn. She deserved everything dealing with a dude like Caine. As far as Harmony, I actually understood why she's like she is. Not ever girl is accustomed to deal with the bad boy. This is not the depiction of a man she grew up to love. Though things happen and the way we think and love changes. The only thing I didn't like is the song lyrics. If the story gives the idea of the song playing I can let that run through my thoughts, but I can do without the lyrics in the story.

So the title through me off a little. Whew chyle, but Harmony, Jocelyn, Cain and Dallas! These four take you for a relationship roller coaster that will have your jaw dropping. Two women go on a journey of love, heartbreak, and growth. Dallas and Cain, best friends from school, have their relationship tested with Cains shady ways.

Harmony meets Dallas a year after being left at the alter. Dallas meets Harmony the day he’s released from prison. Cain and Jocelyn are in a treacherous marriage. Cain has so many skeletons in his closet the door can’t close anymore.

This book was a good read that I would definitely read again. I enjoyed the audiobook readers, they really gave the characters personality. Add this book to your collection. It’s well worth it.

Fairytales do come true if you are willing to work for them!

This book will have you believing in love again. Every relationship has it's ups and downs, but are you willing to stand by your man? Harmony and Joceyln will have you rooting for them to get a happy ending. Dallas and Caine's friendship will have you checking for red flags in your own friendships. As the saying goes "Everything that glitters ain't gold". This book will have you on edge trying to finish it to make sure everything turns out right. I will be looking forward to another sequel or a spin off with Jocelyn. A job well done Ms. Jessica N. Watkins!!
