Living on the Ahlberg’s country estate should feel like paradise now that sixteen-year-old Astrid is finally free from her overbearing parents. But instead, it’s just a lot of hard work. With Hilary still injured, Astrid has a full barn of horses to look after on her own, a failing archery career to rebuild, a flock of bad sheep to keep out of trouble and a young horse to train. Plus, avoiding Miranda’s wrath and surviving Hilary’s ever-increasing mood-swings has become a full-time job. When the new coach arrives, and she’s not what anyone expected, Astrid is pushed to decide between her archery career and the challenging horse-life she’s come to love.

Wonderful reading about horses. I'm 72 years young andnever lost my love of them. This brought back fond memories of even the hard work of keeping them happy. I still perk up when I see a new book especially a good one like this
Wonderful was really thankful for all the accuracy regarding dressage. I will be looking forward to more books by Ms. McKay
In this fourth I statement of the DEFINING GRAVITY series, abused child Astrid behind to flourish away from her domineering father and hydrophobic stepmother. As she progresses as an equestrian, she also returns to archery and learns to live life as an almost normal adolescent; things are looking up! McKay's characters are well-developed and sometimes frighteningly realistic, especially the broken child, Astrid who gradually claims her independence and self-service worth. I look forward to the next installment of her challenging life!
Enjoyed this whole series because it involved horses, young people and lessons learned in and out of the training ring. It's always difficult to say goodbye to characters that I've spent time with. I plan to check out other books by this author. Thanks for the experience Ms. McKay! 😎
A well written, engaging story about a young girl, Astrid, overcoming the pain of a dysfunctional family with the help of the horses she loves and the people who love her.
Loved this one! Great storyline with so many lessons for life in it too! Very interesting how much her dad and step mom changed at the end of the book!
This book had alot of good information. The love for horses and their care. The relationships between family and friends. The talent of most of the horse riders was very good. I enjoyed this book from start to finish.
Astrid has come such a long way since the first book and it is fantastic to see her get the help and support that she needs throughout this one. Also there need to be more Oona's in this world.
