Jethro "Brick" Jackson has made a name for himself as the Voodoo Troops Sergeant at Arms. He is solid and unforgiving. A force. He learned at a young age to trust no one. Especially women. He has no use for them and has no problem using them for a profit. That is until the face that haunts his dreams is brought to the clubhouse to be auctioned.
Nealy Ann Kinman left the city to flee a demanding and unfulfilling life. Strong willed and confident, she likes being in charge of her own life. Only now she has lost control and finds herself in a dangerous situation.
Will Brick break the rules to save her? If he saves her will he be able to let her go?
Jewelz Baxter lives with her husband in Louisiana near their children and grandchildren. She values her family and loves supporting their grandchildren's sports and hobbies.
Over the years Jewelz filled notebook after notebook with stories in her spare time. With her husband's encouragement, she shared those stories and received positive responses from others; prompting her to follow her dream and take the plunge of publishing.
When not writing or spending time with family she can be found on a Harley exploring the backroads with her husband. Jewelz has her own bike but confirms there is nothing like being on the back seat wrapped around her man.
There's a lot to like here. The writing is descriptive and the family drama both inside and outside the MC is engrossing. The plot is predictable, although the chase scenes are well-written and exciting. The bad guy is obvious the moment he's introduced. The main characters (and King) had some depth and subtlety. The other characters are a little stereotypical. There's not a lot of steam, although there's a nice level of attraction between the main characters. More of a sweet romance, which fits the heroine. The numerous typos and grammatical errors are distracting (and sometimes amusing - at one point Brick "blows" a brownie - which was quite funny but probably not the author's intention). Really needs a good proofreader. I'll try another book by this author because I did like the writing and main characters and hope for better plotting and editing.
I enjoyed this book and the storyline. It was a sweet MC, which although a contradiction, I'm ok with sweet and MC. I gave this book 3 stars because I felt even though the story was good, it lacked development. Everything felt a bit rushed except the relationship. That took some time. I did enjoy seeing Nealy's final showdown with her mom and I always love a protective man.
It was ok. Too much happens "off page" . Lots of unnecessary details so I skimmed a lot. I figured out the "bad guy" right away. Undecided if ill continue the series.
Now, I'm not judging but how do you get a clean MC romance? Don't get me wrong, it's good but not what I was expecting. Nealy and Brick are sweet together. There is a HEA with no cliffhanger and no triggers despite the plot premise. If you're looking for scorching sex scenes, this is not your read. However if you want a sweet love story, dig in.
I tried to get into this but it didn't catch my attention. It was a big DNF for me. If after ten chapters, the story doesn't pick up and the dialogue is lacking then I'm done. Got lots more books too read so not going to waste my time.
I loved this book right from the first page - it grabbed me as soon as Nealy was walking down the dark path to some apparent lights in a house.
Brick was a tough guy, fairly high up in the ranking order of his MC, Nealy came from a pretty well off family, her mother wanting her to do things, but these things just weren't fulfilling for the life she wanted to lead, so she struck out on her own. Nealy worked in a bank, as a teller, she liked her job, she loved her life, as she now was doing what she wanted.
One night she was driving home, and she got a flat - being the only daughter of a family that didn't do menial tasks themselves, she had no idea how to change a tire - so she struck out down the road, and right into the Voodoo MC Clubhouse property. She meets Brick, who is quite harsh with her, tells her to turn around, go back where she came from. She quickly turns back towards her car - only to find he beat her there, changed her tire, and sends her on her way. The pull between to two, was instaneous, but she wasn't going there, neither was he - women and relationships were something he didn't want to get tangled up with.............. could they keep apart, nope, different happenings kept throwing them together, he was her knight - and didn't want to be.
It's not my normal genre and first chapter in I still wasn't sure but as I read on I became intrigued especially with Bricks character he was hard smart stubborn and rather rude but it pulled you right in and you watch his character change in the pages as you read, Nealy had the patients of Job her character was so easy going she got on with anyone and she saw the good in Brick I am glad I stuck to it and challenged myself to read on coz I would of missed this brutally exciting romantic novel. Other characters were portrayed so well and I would like to read there stories like King Nova Cowboy Mac and Ghost a great read and a change from the normal romances I loved it.
I won an autographed copy from the author. This was a great fast paced don't want to put down read! Brick is a hard man of little words who gets his point across very clear and has no interest in finding a woman until one stumbles on to his club porch. Nealy according to Brick is a beautiful, kind and too trusting woman who should run as fast as she can away from him. Nealy sees through all Brick's walls and starts to break them down. She knows what she wants. Walls are meant to Crumble!! A truly great read!!
I am a fan of MC romance, and this series looks to be a promising one. A man of very few words, Brick is a man not to be trifled with. The budding romance between these two stubborn main characters, is entertaining and heart felt. They both come from tough, but very different backgrounds; which has shaped who they are. They grow to trust in each other and grow together. The camaraderie between the Voodoo Troops MC members is entertaining and most definitely intriguing. Lets see ehat kind of trouble these boys can get into next!!
I absolutely loved this book and want hooked from the beginning. I couldn’t put it done. Nealy had moved to a small town and was proud of her self for all she had accomplished. Nealy was introduced to Sly Knox a photographer who welll we can figure he was up to no good. Brick had the instant attraction was awesome and their chemistry was off the chart. Brick has to learn to let Nealy in and so does Nealy. Jewelz Baxter builds this world for the Vodoo Troops and you can’t help but fall in love with the Troops. I can’t wait to see what happens next
know my review will not do this book justice. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. Finished it in one afternoon. I can not say this loud enough... I loved this book and all the characters in it, except for each of their mothers SMH. I need a Brick in my life, he was great. I'm glad that Nealy finally got past his walls. I can't wait to read the rest of the series. You will not be disappointed...
Nealy and Brick are a very unlikely couple. She stumbled across his gang when her tyre needs replacing on her car. He tries to warn her to stay away but she is stubborn. He may have a tough exterior but is so sweet especially where Nealy is concerned. He is a man of few words but it’s obvious what she means to him. This is a sweet feel good story and shows you should never judge a book by its cover. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
I enjoyed the read. The connections between the two are felt throughout the story. However there are no real love scenes in this book. A biker story without the sex details? Almost PG 13. It was the only thing lacking. It doesn’t encourage me to buy more books from this author.
Really enjoyed Brick and Nealy's story. Its my first by the author and MC books. Not what I expected when a friend sent me the book. All characters sound interesting, Now I can't wait to read more in the series. Recommending to all my friends.
Brick is a hard read with a deep soul. I loved this from the get go. The first few pages caught me and Nealy is perfect in every way for Brick. My favorite part of this story is it took work, they didn't just fall into HEA.
It took me a little awhile to get into this book. Once I did Bam I was engrossed into this engaging and wonderful read. Really enjoyed this story. I found myself falling for the gruff Brick.
A surprising story of lifes lessons. This wonderful book ,motorcycle based is full of drama, sweetness, surprises and love. I really enjoyed it and look forward to reading the next one..
Had so much potential with the storyline but just didn’t deliver. The surly alpha, can’t speak in a sentence was appealing enough but the supposedly come from a wealthy family and warned about her stupidity female didn’t redeem herself for me.
This book was the first book that I have read by this author and it will not be the last. Good characters and plot along with some twists and turns plus action and romance. Overall a very enjoyable book.
This book drew me in from the beginning, I can't even say why it just did. The more I read about Brick the more I needed to know! I very much enjoyed watching the relationship unfold and if you're anything like me you will to. Just read it...
Jewels is a solid MC writer, her Voodoo troops are absolutely top notch. You can't go wrong grabbing this or any of her other books. Love her characters . I'm glad their in her head not mine these boys get crazy sometimes.
