Jonathan Meres’in eğlenceli kaleminden içinizi ısıtacak bir dede torun hikâyesi.
Sherman loves spending time outside on the beach that he lives next to. He likes looking at things and his favourite thing to look at is the moon. Sherman’s Grandpa used to be an astronaut and a day spent visiting Grandpa is always a day well spent. Especially when they build their own spaceship and head to the Moon…
A charming read full of adventure, excitement and the thrill of venturing into space. It perfectly captures the special relationship between child and grandparent and their joy in making memories together. The chapters are short, there are plenty of colourful illustrations and there are delightful extras in the form of a spot the difference (inside the front cover) and a space-themed maze (inside the back cover).
I read the newer little gem edition with illustrations by Hannah Coulson.
Definitely a favourite early reader of mine. Such a short and simple story but also with such fun and depth. The illustrations were a beautiful addition and really helped work hand in hand with the story to engage the reader in a fun adventure to the moon.
For an adult, older or depper reader there's plenty to talk about in the subtext of the story, and for a new reader, it's a fun adventure with no intimidating pages full of text.
The story of a little boy, Sherman, who loves the moon, and his Grandpa, who was an astronaut. The two go on an imaginary adventure in a home-made rocket. There's a gentle message about the grandpa coming to the end of his life, described in terms of the moon waxing and waning. Lovely illustrations.
Quite a moving story here from Meres about the relationship between grand father and grand son. It is clear the grand father is heading towards the end of life, and though it doesn't day it, the end implies a final goodbye. Very moving and wonderful book.
Our second book for our little 'club', completed. Lots of laughter was had with this one. Sherman doesn't like a lot of things... My little man has adopted the jokes in it too. Fab book for an early reader.
It's very good but I gave it four stars because they didn't actually go on an adventure and the author didn't really explain the story too much. It could've been a much longer story and I felt that this book was therefore for quite little children (I am six years old).
One thing I did really like about this book was that they managed to make a pretend rocket which was really cool but the thing was, they didn't actually go to the moon it was just a made up moon. BUT it was quite cool!
