Immortal Supers #1

The Daily Struggles of an Immortal

Rate this book
In a world where almost everyone has a superpower, Sam Archer finds himself with one of the most useless abilities of all – immortality. Sure, he can’t die, but he sure as hell can’t fight back either. If anything, the incapacity to die has turned out to be a hassle for Sam, with ridiculous requests for obnoxious favors being a primary concern. However, his coworker Lily Dodson is about to make his life a lot more interesting with her unique proposal.

This book contains adult content that may not be suitable for all audiences, including suggestive adult scenes, slight harem elements, consensual sexual aggression on a male character by a female (slight BDSM elements), graphic violence, talk about self-harming behavior, and alcohol consumption/drug use. However, this book does not contain overly vulgar language, and it has parts you may find wholesome.

Prologue
I sent the message to my friend, and looked back up at her. “Okay, sounds good. That’ll give me plenty of time to talk to Lily before tonight.” I changed subjects. “So, what do you want to do until then?”
She hesitated as she thought about it. “Well, I’ve told you the pressing issues. Do you want to hear about anything else right now…or can it wait?”
I blinked at her in surprise. “Yeah, it can wait. Of course.”
“Then…” She bit her lower lip. “Can I take you to my place?”
I smirked at her. “What? And play with me before you have to take me back to work?”
She didn’t smile.
“Oh.” I locked eyes with her, unexpectedly feeling nervous. She was completely serious. “Umm, okay.”
She stood up immediately, reaching her hand out towards me. She still wasn’t smiling. Her gaze was intense.
Damn, what was I getting myself into?

Book one

Mistakes: I found only one.
Plot: This was well done. I'm not normally interested in this type of book. Mostly because they seem to be nothing more than wish fulfilment. There is a lot of sex, but it's rather tastefully done and not overly graphic.
Characters: Interesting powers. Normally in a book like this the relationship is so over the top that all the female characters kinda morph into one person. Meaning that there is nothing different about their personalities. Both female characters keep t their individuality throughout this book.

On the plus side, the author's writing style is lean and an easy read. That is about it.

The book starts out with what the title suggests, simple, daily stuff. Some past adventures are mentioned but no further details are given. Pretty soon the story turns into a romance story, like the Rosamunde Pilcher movies my grandmother used to watch, the protagonist is perfect in every way, considering, nice, understanding and of course a stud in bed. His two! girlfriends are exactly the same in addition to being vulnerable for the hot super model and dominatrix traits for the other equally hot successful business owner. Money is no issue, for non of the them, at all. Lamborghini's for everyone.

All this I could overlook if the super powers part would have better thought out. But no, the seemingly immortal protagonist is not a "regular" immortal, immortality is just a side effect of his real power, which over the course of the book is extended deus-ex-machina-style on every occasion the situation requires it to (or the lazy writing). Second sight through solid objects with detached, virtual eyes? Check! Ghost hentai tentacle appendages, very strong, unbreakable, extremely sensitive (sex, you know) and gun-like deadly? Check! Watch the past like a movie? Check! Form a protective shield by combining hentai tentacles? Check! ... Check! Check! Check!

In summary, this book will not worth anyone's time. The underlying story is shallow and lost in the gooey romance stuff. Everything related to sex is a tease at best, describing the scenery, ton's of "I love you" and always ending like "once she was done we got up and went to work".

No, just, no.

Are you Kurtis Eckstein, are you serious with this crap! You make a character immortal and put him in situations where he's raped, tortured and brutalized all in the name of having a girlfriend?! Seriously?! And make him the biggest, softest, push over imaginable. Readers, just dont bother. Seriously. How the heck did anyone give this five stars is beyond me.

I quote from our fellow goodreads readers:

"Honestly, it kind of feels like someone’s written a porn book and inexplicably left out the porn." by sardit.

"The underlying story is shallow and lost in the gooey romance stuff. Everything related to sex is a tease at best, describing the scenery, ton's of "I love you" and always ending like "once she was done we got up and went to work"." by Nils Ritter.

"Even as porn novel this is shit." by Matt.

Yes, I know I only grabbed the 1-2 stars ones but that's how I feel about this book.

Okay. So, in this book, there are a lot of weird things in this book that doesn't make too much sense or is super idealistic. For example, protagonist and his girls are all beautiful (duh). But all three of them are "well off" and have no real money issues. One of the girls, who was a hot super model, is the perfect girlfriend. A virgin who is hot, seductive but also innocent and kiddy-ish cute. She never dated a guy or had a real relationship. She never bothered trying to train her powers. She's just the perfect girl to be saved and loved by the protagonist. The other girl is like a vampiric monster. She can transform her mouth into something with big jaws and crazy teeth. And obviously, she gets horny when she drinks blood. The thing is, she supposedly go through "boyfriends" or "meals" really fast because they don't last more than one day/night. Yet, she's not caught for who knows how many years.

I understand the author gave some brief explanations on some of these. But it's meh.

At the end of the day, what pisses me off the most is the protagonist, a hypocrite. "I'm not going to cheat on my girlfriend. I'm not a cheating asshole. I haven't cheated for over 200 years. I'm not going to start now. But I can't stop myself from enjoying this delicious pussy suffocating me. Or the seduction that I can clearly see from this crazy murderous slut."

This is literal crap you pull out of hentai (Japanese manga porn). I guess I should be happy it's not Korean drama, which is even nastier crap (the girls start cheating on the protagonist too, and NTR is everywhere).

Let me put it this way, it's like an erotica, or porn, because it's mostly revolved around romance/sex. But it's not because the author decided to omit all the actual sex scenes erotica/porn usually have. So, you get something that's like half way. Some people dig it. I do not. Some people like hypocrisy in their protagonist. I do not. The author spends so much time writing how perfect and goodie goodie the protagonist but then he's not. I guess you can call it the perfect guy being corrupted? But he's not even trying to not cheat. I would be a happy camper if the protagonist was a simple harem seeker.

Like I said, clearly, some people dig this kind of plot. I do not. And this isn't really "the daily struggles of an immortal". It's not what your average day would be consist of as an immortal. If he chased after girls since the beginning of his immortal life, then sure. But it's so random. After 100 years, he finally randomly decided to jump into a relationship. I mean, he's supposedly buff and a hunk. I'm sure someone would've been interested and proactive enough to seduce him over 100 years.

A lot of stuff isn't planned out well, at all.

It’s not quite a harem anime in book form, since the protagonist ends up with two girlfriends rather than struggling with dozens of gorgeous women in his life throwing themselves at him, but that’s the closest comparison I can draw. It’s pretty much a dude fantasy of being a seemingly ordinary dude who ends up with 90% of the book is about the development of their relationship and all the amazing sex they’re having, and while eventually a plot shows up, it’s pretty clearly not what the author is interested in.

Honestly, it kind of feels like someone’s written a porn book and inexplicably left out the porn.

Dnf- main character not for me

I tried to like this book, but the main character is a 200 some year old wimp. He’s pushed around by everyone, like the skinny guy who keeps throwing his whatsit down the do-hickey. And the two girls. Also cheating is cheating. Man up and tell the girl you claim your in love with. Don’t pine for another girl that you would have picked if you met her first.

To top it off, if your main character is old, and rich. Give them some sort of personality that indicates they have world experience. This character felt like he was 23.

A step above most, one rung below some.

I have to say that this is one of the better harem books out there. I might also note that its almost not a harem, there are only two women. Something i really dont mind to be honest. I tend more towards likeing romance, than wishfullment or erotica. So whilst this is basically still those last two things its still closer to romance than most harems get which i apreciate! Unfortunetly as most men who like romance books will tell you, we're verry poorly catered too. If you search for fantasy romance books for men, all you get is harem books lists *sigh*.

Anyway im getting distracted, back to the book! I deffinetly like the fantasy of haveing a vampire chick as a girlfriend, and this book delivers that fantasy pretty damn well. There were a few cringy parts that are kind of just par for the course with this genre, that im slowly becomeing decensitized too... like forcible face sitting. Dont get me wrong if it had been written a tiny bit better it could have been really hot, but instead because it came out of nowhere, with no context, and haveing just met "im going to sit on your face, and theres nothing you can do about it" (im paraphrasing) it came off funny rather than sexy. But thats the one of the only real negatives i can think of! This book is essentially a light hearted wish fullfillment book with a bit of erotica. If you know what you are in for, and go in with eyes open, and expectations adjusted, you should enjoy it if you like the genre!

This book actually succeeds for me, where many other books in the genre fail. It genuinly builds up some emotion and connection between the characters. Allot of harem books fall into the trap of thinking that sex sex sex sex is all that matters. But emotion is so important in makeing a sex scene engageing. Otherwise if its just random girls who have just been introduced grinding up against the maincharacter and then dissapearing, i just eye roll and skip ahead. Its all about the chase, this might just be my personal preference but i actually prefer a little delay before characters get together, some indecision some flirtation, a bit of tension. Unfortunetly you dont get that here, but there is a big effort to bring some emotion and intimacy between that characters that is deffinetly apreciated. Incidently this is something cebelius (another author) does verry well in his books, and i realise i have kind of been chaseing the cebelius high.. for other cebelius fans thinking about maby checking out this book, i would say it deffinetly does scratch that itch, whilst we wait for would you love a monster girl book four.

Tldr: There is allot to like here, there is a decent ammount of intimacy, the sex scenes are engageing, and for those who like erotica, frequent enough to not dissapoint. But not so frequent as to loose focus of the story. Which suprisingly there is more of here than some of these novels have! There is a decent ammount of action, development of powers, though it is by no means a progression fantasy. The audiobook version is also verry compitently done, with narration being nice and clear, and adding to the story quite well. The narrator is male, but he manages to pull of some fairly impressive female voices. So dont let that discourage you.

Overall if you like latex, boobs, vampires, 3 way relationships, super heroes, phantom tenticles and a dash of erotica i think this book is a fairly safe bet for you!

slightly different Harem novel, but only just slightly
when reading these erotic harem male fantasy wish fulfillment novels, I'm often confronted by other ideas of masculinity and what men are and what men are supposed to like.
this basically 3 star book gets an extra star from me for straying out of the action hero ghetto and showing a male protagonist who doesn't use violence as a first resort, and isn't threatened by a strong woman.
I'm getting bored by the two-fisted, take no crap, muscle guy who is a rewrite of Connan the Barbarian with a machine gun.
Now I've finished and I look at the other reviews, it seems like a lot of dudes out there were put off by the MC not dominating his 2 girlfriends. What's worse, he could be considered a sub by some marrow minds and for that alone this book earned the extra star.
Wile the plot is basic and the world building is practically nonexistent the writing is pretty good (for harem) and the characters are interesting enough. there are hackneyed tropes a plenty, even that played out "I just want to be one woman guy" protestation. but there are also a lot of nice touches and a bit more romance than we are used to seeing outside of a Daniel Schinhofen book.
I'm interested to see where this goes.

The author did do some decent writing in this book. My dislike of it is based on three things. First, THERE IS NO RESOLUTION. There ought to be a law: people who write books without a resolution are imprisoned until they learn to write. This makes me a little sad in this case as there were portions of this book I enjoyed but the simple truth is that the lack of resolution utterly ruined any enjoyment and made this book a complete waste of time.

Second, the author undermines his MC. Not completely but noticeably on several occasion. The one instance that really stuck out was when the MC is taken prisoner by a vampire. MC negotiates his release in return for which the vamp will be permitted to feed on him. The vamp says once a week AND THE IDIOT MC CHANGES IT TO DAILY!!! The MC's reason is because it will help him work on his pain tolerance but the author failed to present that in a believable way. Who voluntarily goes out of their way to give benefits to their jailer and torturer? This moronic MC, that's who. Plus the MC is essentially cheating on his girlfriend by his own standards in doing this.

Point two, continued: The MC has a power that he has never explored but which, predictably enough, turns out to be super overpowered. I don't automatically criticize stories for having over-powered aspects since I find the question of how power is handled to be interesting. Here, however, the MC uses his new power to cheat on his girlfriend in manner he can justify to himself and rescue his girlfriend when she was kidnapped. (In other words, the MC didn't grow- he may as well just bought a gun rather than start using his full power.) I found nothing interesting in that and the cheating aspect just made the MC even more unlikable.

It should be noted that for large portions of the book the MC was likable. I suppose the author was just trying to show the complexity of his MC but he failed monumentally. For significant portions of the story I thought the MC was being an ass- mostly because of how he was cheating on his girlfriend. (Note: that's a simplification of the story but a justified one since the MC admits as much.)

Third, the sex. I thought author did a good job of writing sex scenes in general. However, a couple of the scenes struck me as juvenile. This is (obviously) completely subjective so feel free to ignore my opinion.

Bottom line: NO RESOLUTION = not a real book = find something better to read.

Unrefined Story, But Fun
So the story has huge holes and lazy structure. For instance, the main character, Sam, has lived for hundreds of years, but doesn't understand his super power at all, and beyond that, actively complains about it not being very powerful, when it fact compared to most other super powers shown in this universe, its pretty amazing. Sam has gone almost three hundred years without a relationship, but then in the span of a few weeks finds not one but two people who both have very rare situations that him an ideal romantic partner. Although Sam and Lily's relationship begins at their job site, and they return their often, we never so much as learn what industry or field they work in, furthermore what they actually do.

Sam discovers several new facets to his power, again after hundreds of years, with little effort or direction. Then with a day of practice, he becomes fully and skillfully practiced at using them. He discovers them just when he happens to really need them. Again, low on the plausibility.

I did really enjoy the languid pace of the first half of the book, taking time to develop the Sam and his relationship with Lily. I did think the need for someone who is immortal to develop their pain tolerance, since they would never find solace in death, to be clever. Once the love triangle started to develop, along with the challenges of vampirism of Freya's particular flavor, things got really interesting.

The discovery of the bad guys, again after almost 300 years happening all of the sudden, and subsequent revelations about Sams powers just as he needed them to fight the bad guys, made the second half of the book much more action oriented and less character development oriented. Worked fine for me, get to know the characters before the action drives the plot.

Finally, the book was left with a bunch of dead bad guys, and a bit of a cliff-hanger. Would like to see more of the characters, but the author appears to have a penchant for writing book 1s of series, then moving on to other things.

Started out with potential

MC is immortal, lives over 200 years. Is rich, so he has a bit of brains. Has a boring as fuck desk job that he never explains why he keeps when he's rich.
So far so good, little bit boring but w/e.
Spoilers from here.
Then he gets kidnapped by his girlfriends bestfriend and used as a bloodbank, makes a deal to get his freedom in exchange for serving as her food daily. Keeps to his morals of not cheating though and refuses her advances for sex.
But then he for some random ass reason decides to trust her to come to his house and feed from him daily.
Then she threatens to kidnap him again to use as food 50 times a day, and points out that she can use him as a sexdoll and he can't do shit.
What does he do? Gives in, lets her do whatever she wants. Doesn't tell his gf that has ALREADY threatened to kill her friend for kidnapping him in the first place, that she threatened to kidnap him and rape his face again.
And then when this kidnapper chick uses his face and just leaves, and spends the next 4 days being quiet and not playing with herself or him like usual, what does he do?
The dumbass starts feeling bad for her. Get the fuck out.

Even as porn novel this is shit.

Surprisingly not too bad.

I never expect anything but "mildly decent" when reading a book involving harem elements. This was notable exception. It was not really a sex fantasy and at no point do i think the author made the female characters abandon they're common sense. SPOILER ALERT: I actually thought it was really cool how one of the female love interest was adamant about not being gay and refusing to be a part of a threesome, but still allowing for the second female because she understood the limits her finite life span put on the relationship.

A interesting slice of life book.

Ok this book takes a long time to introduce you to the main character and it was a nice change from many. The author did a good job in telling the story in a way to make you get invested in the book. It had me engaged with the story early and kept me wanting to know more.

An easy 4 star book for this type of book maybe even 4.5. This book is not for everyone because of the adult content and situations. I like these type of book when they are done well and this one is. I look forward to the next book in this series and will be looking for more by this Author.

An Honestly fun read

It's the first time reading a book like this and I gotta say it was great , it was funny and the story kept you reading trying to find out more about the characters and it wasn't boring at all , the parts about the sex scenes weren't graphic , so I didn't mind reading along and the main character was a good person surprisingly enough and I enjoyed how he interacted with his girlfriend and friends . I enjoyed the storyline and his sense of morality and the morals he had , it was refreshing not to see all the usual things I would have expect from a kinda harem book , possibly harem ??? Either way it was good and seeing how they interact with each other finding out their vulnerabilities and seeing they way they think and end up positively reacting to one another in a healthy and kind way , I'm glad the main character can look at the world so differently and still know when he has to do ,what he has to do , that he still knows what he did was right and go back to being normal again , there's action, adventure and getting to know the opposite sex and Not knowing what to do around them and weird friends and super powers and relationship issues and bad guys and a conspiracy against Sam the MC . Trust me when I say it wasn't a disappointment and you'll enjoy the read , now get the book and have fun with it

Tried to like, weak MC

I tried to like this. I really did. But at 24% through, the MC is a sniveling, submissive, weak punk. He isn't strong enough to say the word NO. Turns my stomach and just makes me unable to go any further. If he had at least gained ground maybe. If he had grown a bit perhaps. But for the last two chapters he was becoming more and more of a wimpy, submissive, cry baby, spineless coward. If he can't even say no he isn't worth my time reading.
Not at all interested in reading about a submissive male who is dominated by women and isn't even strong enough to give positive consent. That's just crap. If he could at least give positive consent I could have stuck it out for another chapter. But no, just whiney and caves...truly pathetic. I have no idea what the other reviewers were reading.

Honestly, It's a hard one to rate. The story had some good moments but overall it was poorly written and had gaping holes in the plot.

There are a few interesting concepts, and the story is still fun, but it's not particularly good. Kind of like those bad movies you know suck, but enjoy them anyway.

The Author seems to have a long line of Book 1's, so we shall have to wait and see if book 2 is around the corner.

Overall I have trouble recommending this to anyone, however, if you are into bad movies, then this might be the bad book for you.

Disappointed

I had been hoping this story would resemble it's top reviews but instead found the reverse. It's more about the sex than the story, a thin gause of causality that barely holds anything together. The author has some interesting concepts but failed to deliver them in a satisfactory manner. So many things about a superpowered world that could be major plot are instead ignored footnotes. Emotional development that could be meaningful is lost behind piles of sex, abuse, lying, cheating, and ogling.

Sunday school smut? This is horrible

Imagine if the most conservative and prude person you know tried to write smut.... That's what this is. I'm cool with smut and erotica, but this is just garbage. The MC is over 200 years old but a complete wuss... No backbone, no brain... Basically a sheltered loser with the mental fortitude of a young teenage boy. No ambition, no humor, let's people run all over him... It's just not believable that someone could live that long and be such a wet napkin.

Weird "White Knight" fantasy/fetish, harem fetish story that wastes s really intriguing "what if everyone had super powers" premise.

And yet I still give it more than one star because it was still strangely compelling enough that I finished it...

Regret giving this garbage a chance

The book was interesting at first, till I realized that the protagonist was 219 year old wimp who apperantly hasnt learned anything from his long life. He get pushed around my the women in his life, getting kidnapped and forced in to sexual play. When it stop, he feels bad for the rapist because she is not longer abusing him happily.

Fun and interesting

Entertaining book, good characters. An entertaining jaunt into the superhero genre. Only issue with the book was the sudden jump from the MCs perspective to Lily's perspective 2/3 of the way through the book for a couple chapters. Was a bit odd and jarring. Otherwise really looking forward to book 2.

Did not finish. 30%

Reads like the diary of a fifteen-year-old boy, not a 200-plus-year-old man. The characters are so unbelievable that I can't be bothered to list the issues.

On the plus side, the grammar and spelling were good.

A fun story with a rather unique set of relationships between somewhat overpowered characters which culminates in a nice relaxing ending... except for the last few pages.

The writing in this story is pretty decent starting out strong but sort of petering out near the end almost as though it was started with good intentions and the author had to rush as the deadline began getting closer. That being said, the writing was overall pretty good, though I did get tired of the constant references to a character "getting there" near the end.

The story is interesting and has many minor details that I can foresee being fleshed out into much larger arcs. The relationships between the main cast feel a bit more well thought out than your typical fare and I appreciated that the author allows a great deal of time to pass over the course of the story. It makes everything feel a bit more real when people work towards something over months rather than having sparks fly over a few days.

The characters are unique and have good reason to be there only stumbling slightly with a rushed introduction for each new one to appear. Unfortunately this isn't the case for the bad guys in the story. Each one is plopped in, dealt with, and forgotten, often in the same chapter. They feel less like characters and more like simple plot devices to have something happen to the main cast. This isn't a huge detriment since these flat henchmen characters serve to contrast the important characters who are all much more well rounded and thought out.

One detail that I really didn't like was the main character's powers. He begins with what is frequently thought of as an amazing power, though we are frequently shown how it can be a curse too. Before long he gets a hold of some info that explains how his powers came to be, though the characters make some intuitive leaps that make absolutely zero sense. Then now that he knows how his power came to be, he's able to use it as a weapon... immediately... And it's broken as all hell. Bam kill 19 people 100 feet away just by thinking it. No defence, no stopping it, and completely mutable to the point that he can use it for whatever he wants. It's like his power is magic, not like magical or anything, just like literally just magic. If he had spent some time working towards it then it would be a bit more forgivable but he's literally a master of it within seconds of learning it. This is softened a bit by the fact that he rarely uses it to it's full extent and instead uses it for fun most of t he time but still, it's a weak and rushed plot device.

The ending of the story is is relaxing and sweet and is a nice ending to what has been predominantly a pretty relaxing "slice of life" story in a super powered setting... Except for the final few pages. The story ends on the most annoying cliffhanger which is obviously meant to get you interested in pursuing the next book. It's a cheap hook and sours what has been an enjoyable read for me up to that point. If the author would have hinted at this hook in some way, foreshadowed it a bit more clearly, or even jumped to the point of view of another character to show it to the reader, then it would have easily jumped this book up another star for me.

In the end this is a fun story that I enjoyed (minus the ending) and I think I will continue the story once the next book is released.

Fun to read, not a stand alone

This is a romance series with super powers. The story after 3 books is looking good with the MC having a problem with being loyal to the women he is with. Now I feel that this stems from him having a white knight complex. He wants to help women who are hurt and in doing so gets attached and doesn’t know how to not allow their thankfulness to turn into romantic feelings. I also feel that is because he has always only believed that his power was to recover from any damage he received and has felt powerless to help anyone, even himself for his whole life up to this point. I do feel that he has done better since book one but that as he himself realized, he needs to learn self control.

I also don’t believe that the author just pulled powers out of a hat and said see all these things go together. Spoiler warning!
His base power is to act as a lich making him undying as long as his phylactery wasn’t destroyed. Now the body he is in isn’t his real body. Seeing as he is basically a ghost possessing a body and we learn early on that he has to also be able to increase the ability of the body that he is in possession of as the original owner of his body was a normal regenerator and not capable of come back from being turned to bones. It then makes sense that if he is a ghost that he can see without a body(his second sight) I believe that his tentacles are more him using the seemingly endless energy he has access to to creat force constructs and he is limited in number only because his might have unlimited energy but not bandwidth. I also think that his eyes glowing at the end of book 3 mean that he either can learn how others powers work or can take a piece of the soul he switches with and that give him access to their ability as will.

Regardless of the fact that the story isn’t all about anything one thing I believe it has the main thing needed to make a story good. It is enjoyable to read! A story doesn’t have to have a beginning, middle or ending. It doesn’t need to have character growth or plot twists. It also doesn’t need to have a morale or a point. The one thing a story needs to be worth reading is for it to be enjoyable to the reader. Does have all those things help? Yes, but only if they make the story more enjoyable. You might not know how to tell if you enjoyed the story if you haven’t read one you enjoyed. So to tell if it is enjoyable ask one simple question of any book or series of books you read. In the future would I read it again? If the answer is yes then you enjoyed it! It doesn’t need a check list to be filled out to be labeled “a good book by literary standard” to be a good book. Lighten up people and enjoyed life don’t look for reasons to be critical about anything unless it’s to protect someone life.

Read any of the other 1* reviews for my thoughts. I should have listened, so let me be your warning and steer you away from this book. It is terrible. I actually stopped a little before 50% and have no intention of ever finishing it, particularly after seeing from the reviews that it never gets any better, nor is there any actual resolution.

Furthermore, except for the actual pic of the author, I would have almost bet real money that this was yet another pseudonym for William Arand/Randi Darren, as I can't fathom the possibility that there are TWO authors in the same genre that litter their books with sentences starting with "I mean". This guy once did it FOUR TIMES in the span of ONE PAGE! That might beat Arand's record. That's also where I finally called it quits for this book. My sanity is worth more than this.

If I were king, I'd have someone round up every author guilty of this and sentence them to life in prison listening to a recording of those two words over and over, forever. It rustles my jimmies so hard now that I can't help but notice it any time someone does it. Please, for the love of God, any new authors out there looking to self publish...search for that phrase and delete every single instance of it starting a sentence. A good editor would have done it for you, but I'm giving you this advice completely free of charge.

Excellent bit of Fantasy Fiction

Putting into words what frequently is on our minds is no easy task especially if you’re an author. With this story it appears to me that the author knew where he was going but had problems getting there so he decided to spend a lot of time character building. In that endeavor the author put me, the reader, right in the psyche of each character and justified their relationships with each other. In the cases of the three main characters, this was no easy task. Read the book and that will become ultimately clear. Meanwhile a plot develops endangering the trio and if not for the experience of the 700 year old vampire member they could be easily put on ice. This book ends with a lot of finger pointing and not much else. If this mystery element was introduced to entice the reader to wait for the next installment then the jury is out. Perhaps by then I’ll have figured it out myself. This book has merit or I obviously would not have finished it. It was fun to read and I recommend it honestly to others who may similarly enjoy the book but be a bit less critical.
