Sam Archer’s life is about to become a lot more complicated. His girlfriend, Freya Rosetti, has just discovered she has a daughter, which shouldn’t even be possible given that she’s never been pregnant. And his fiancé, Lily Dodson, is being haunted by an act she committed in self-defense. Not to mention the appearance of an arrogant superhero with a god-complex who just won’t take ‘no’ for an answer, and who is determined to make their lives miserable in any way he can. All the while, they anxiously wait for Sam’s supposed friend, Nick Parker, to meet with the shadow organization’s contact to try to discover who is responsible for the immortal super’s repeated torment over the years. Can Sam sort through the mess unraveling before him, and keep his family safe in the process? Is he willing to forgive those who have wronged him, and maybe gain a few friends along the way?
This book contains adult content that may not be suitable for all audiences, including suggestive adult scenes, slight harem elements, graphic violence, talk about self-harming behavior, and alcohol consumption/drug use. However, this book does not attempt to glorify any of the negative topics mentioned previously, and it has both parts that you may find wholesome as well as parts that may make you cry.
Prologue “S-So,” the women said after a moment. “Did you find anything?” Freya let go of Lily’s face, but immediately grabbed a hold of her and pulled her into a tight hug as she met the woman’s gaze. “Unfortunately, no. There aren’t any clues to go on.” She sighed then, finally letting Lily go. “Sorry,” the woman replied. “I wish I could be of more help.” Freya shook her head. “It’s fine. And as for living with us, that’s something we’ll have to discuss separately. Having an extra two women in the house permanently is kind of a big deal.” “I know we just bought your house,” she continued. “But maybe I could sell it, and we could at least live next to you guys? I can pay to have a house built beside Lily’s, so then we would be neighbors at least.” Freya and Lily exchanged a glance, prompting Lily to speak up. “Maybe,” she replied tentatively, turning slightly to meet the woman’s gaze.

Great story! I'm really enjoying the addition of Rose, a vampire daughter.
It's such a pleasure to see the family of main characters in this series evolve and grow. They feel like dear friends to me and I feel their joy and their pain. I'm very eagerly awaiting book 3 in this series. Keep up the great work Kurtis! :)
While the second book is realistic, I derive NO pleasure from sadistic characters and frankly, life is too short and already brutal enough without having to read about it in what is supposed to be entertainment. Pass on the remainder of this series.
I like Eckstein's character work. The plots and world building are good too but the characters are where his works shines because he makes you really care about each individual central character even side characters like Nick and Zoey fell fleshed out....it makes for a really satisfying read because it's the characters that can really make or break a story like this.
Kicks into a higher gear. More action, Less Sex This book changes how I look at book 1. This one cranks up the tension, makes the last book seem like a bucolic slice of life.
I'd say the author has improved a bit from his first book in this series. The series from the very start had strong editing and story telling, but now the characters are starting to catch up with the rest of it.
There is unfortunately still some cringy dialogue and Sam by far is the weakest character. A mary Sue to the extreme without the charm to divert your attention from it. That being said with the addition of secondary characters, it's given the author an opportunity to focus away from him slightly and develop others, without detracting from the story.
Overall if you enjoyed the first book, you cant go far wrong with the sequel. The author seems to improve as time goes on which is a very good thing in my opinion, so hopefully a 3rd volume will be better once again.
Not a bad continuation to the story, still gogin strong with the positive, altough it feels like the author detracted to much from the 'main plotline' so far and overfocused on the second plotline. The introduction of an organization tha actually managed cloning, and not just any clon but one of the most lethal super so far should have a bigger impact that just introducing a 'daugther' to the MC family, even more with the clear hints of a program for child soldiers. And the sudden ovecharging testosterone overdose Sam got with the two sister around? Where did that came from?
This volume the Archer family grows a little. Meanwhile, Lily develops some legal troubles and catches the eye of the strongest superhero, whose intentions may not be altogether wholesome. Sam and Freya continue to investigate leads on the shadow organization. We got more world-building, which I appreciate. Sexual scenes were sparse this time, but were slightly more explicit than first volume. Narrative took some dark turns, but character development continues to shine. Great addition to series.
Thank you for another great story, I can't wait for the next one. The rest of this review is filled with blah. A specific number of words are required for this to actually post. The first sentences are my review. So are the number of stars. I read the stories, I do not write them.
this series just keeps getting better and better. The intrigue is fantastic the characters are great, the characters are adults that react to a situation as adults not like teenagers with insecurity issues. The drama is realistic, the villain is hateable, overall I just adore the story
It's always nice to see unique perspectives in the superhero genre. The way the author sets up the immortal issue as both a MacGuffin and character descriptor is really fun and I highly recommend the first two books.
This second book is much more serious in tone than the first book. Saying that, there is a lot more character development and overall this book blows the first out of the water in my opinion. I cannot wait for the next installment.
The frequent flashbacks/flashforwards were informative and allowed us to cover large periods of time efficiently, but it still made the pacing feel weird. We finished the main plot at like 75% and then just got a bunch of more information.
This is a good book. You should read it. I like the story. The characters are fun. It is a series that I wait eagerly for. I like the latest additions to a dream harem. I lap like the author tries to input actual complications of a polyamorous relationship.
I love reading this book, the story was engaging and the relationship grew with the characters. It did not feel contrived and I truly looking forward to the next book and the growing relationship between all 4 women and the MC. Thank you this was really great
Pretty good story over all. There was a couple of occasions tho where one of Sam's internal ruminations was repeated, almost word for word, like 2 chapters later. Like Sam would have a thought, and then a little while later, have the same thought, word for word.
In LOVE with all the main characters, plotline is fantastic, good guys are dealing well with the bad guys, good twists and turns in the plot, what more can I say?
It was a good fun read, I enjoyed the universe and all the different backgrounds the characters had. Definitely hoping for another entry in this series!
The story continues with Freya and Lily and Sam- I honestly don't remember the specifics because I started reading the next book right away. Oh yeah- Blaze. I think Lexi and Heidi join the group while they have to save Lily. AGAIN.
Still goofy, still a bit of a mess, still deeply enjoyable. If you're reading this review you probably read book 1, enjoyed it enough to be interested in a sequel, and were wondering "is this more of that same delicious nonsense"? Answer: Yes.
(On the other hand, if you didn't care for book 1 and were wondering if this fixes whatever flaws you saw in book 1...not really, sorry.)
