All signs point to a looming invasion. The Edxi, an intelligent insect race, will lead the charge as they attempt to take the Tamber moon and the worlds around it to hatch their broods and create a new strategic foothold in the Milky Way. More excitement and action in the Fringe!

TL:DR Yes of course it’s worth it. I wouldn’t still be here reading this far into the series if it wasn’t totally enjoyable. its an unpredictable roller coaster (the entire series)

Well there’s not likely much I can say to someone who’s reading a review of the 12th book (really about 16th) in a series to convince you to read it. Either you’ve read the others or you haven’t, and if you haven’t why would you read about this one ?

To those who’ve enjoyed the others you’ll enjoy this one likely as much as the others. To someone who might actually be reading this as their first exposure to Spinward Fringe, hmm, where to start.

This is a tale of humanity mainly, with some alien races, many centuries in the future (it’s never actually stated numerically) and we had to leave Earth and colonize the area of the Milky Way called the Spinward Fringe, hence the name of the series. You’ll meet and follow a cast of characters, over a dozen plus years at this point of their lives, if I were to guess. I have found this series gripping, compelling, thought provoking. It caused me to almost stop 20pages into Broadcast 1 in protest or what was happening, before I made it far enough to stop freaking out regarding what had happened since Broadcast 0: Origins (yes you need to start there, and it’s free!!). I’ve been surprised, shocked, angry, sad, in tears, excited, chilled, overjoyed, to name a few emotions, throughout the series.

So to put it simply, if you want to be invested in the characters, the way many have been for Game of Thrones or LotR, I suspect you’ll be invested in these characters too. I will warn you, the writing isn’t as complex/descriptive in this series mainly because the author doesn’t need to spend 40 pages describing some new setting or location. Most everything you’ll experience here will have a sense of the familiar, so the story stays on the characters more than describing a place (I’m look at you Terry Goodkind! Damn you spend a lot of pages describing the same place in multiple books).

I’ll wrap up with this: I’m fairly confident few readers continually guess where his story is going. There will be one pet peeve for many readers, and that’s grammatical errors. Unfortunately this is a self published and proof read series, so you will encounter more than the usual number of errors (like in this book had passed instead of past in one sentence). Just keep in mind you aren’t buying a $25 publisher quality hardcover with all the additional staff to do proofing and you’ll be fine. It’s still a fantastic and worthy series, and damn it someone needs to get a movie or streaming show based on this in the works!

Better and better.

Lalonde is finally bringing all the pieces together. Origins was one of the first books I ever bought on my kindle way back in 2009 (?). I've read every book in the series since. This book is epic. Not just in the sense of progressing the story of Alice, Jacob and the rest of the various characters but also in tying together all the threads from all the books before. My only complaint is we didn't get more Wheeler (!) and I wonder whats happening to Eve. Great book and I cant wait for the next one.

Another amazing story in the Spinward Fringe universe

Another story in the ongoing saga in the Spinward Fringe universe.
The story follows the Haven Shore storyline and you’ll remember and continue on with stories of Alice, Carnie, Theodore, Ayan, Jake, Oz, and others as a beguiling wandering nemesis comes back to hunt them!
The edxi race want some action, and the two powers clash! What will become of them? Is there a winner, a loser, a stalemate?!
An old relic, upgraded slightly makes an appearance- what could it be, and who could be on it? What is its significance?

I have read all of the books and novelettes in this series and i just think that this is one of the best set of stories I have read in years. The stories are always really exciting and interesting with the main characters remaining true to the story line. There is just enough humor and romance to make you wonder what the characters are up to. Keep writing Randolph, your books are a pleasure to read.

At first I wondered if they invasion would ever come, it felt like there as a pretty lengthy build up (incorporating much character interaction, setting up relationships for later), but once the action hit, it was very solid. The action moves quickly and keeps you engaged, and it left in such a place that you are on the edge of your seat for broadcast 13.
