Something Deeper

Rate this book
Everyone has a breaking point and Kya has reached hers. Having been fed what love was supposed to be by her parents, she chose to stay in a loveless relationship with hopes that it would one day be something more. However, when she gets hit with the reality that her relationship is nothing more than a façade to please the outside world, she feels as though she can no longer deprive herself of something deeper.

Kofi has been Kya’s best friend since the tender age of eight and he has loved her every day since. When Kofi moved back to Nashville, TN after being away for a year he decides that it’s time to finally tell her. The only problem is that he returns home to a broken Kya. He knows that he can’t be the one to fix her because that’s something she has to do on her own. His plan is to be at her side as she does it.

Will Kofi be the one to offer Kya something deeper, or will she continue to live in the superficial love that she has grown accustomed to?

That Soul-tie is no joke 💞💞

Kofi and Kya have been best friends since they were 8 years old and they've loved one another since then. They've always had a strong friendship. when Kya meet someone else and moves in with him. Kofi decides it's best to move away , but sensing her distress he returns and that's when the Love Story begins. This is one of the best friends to lovers story that I have read. kudos to Kofi for coming back to get his (Lolo) Kya. Ivy Laika you did a great job with this story.

Kofi was sincere when it came to Kya. Since their friendship at the age of 8, he paid attention to her feelings. I thought it was noble of him to stand up to her parents. Nicely written storyline and enjoyable read

So sweet

Kya had to overcome a couple of challenges. Thankfully, she didn't have to face them alone. She had her best friend Kofi by her side. Their affection for one another kept me reading. They truly cared for one another through all the hardships. They were there through the friendship and undying love, and I loved every minute of it.

Love wins!

Yasss Ivy! Something Deeper filled my heart with so much joy. A man like Kofi needs to be cloned😍 He was everything and more. I felt so bad for Kya as she tried to find herself because that was a tough journey. I can't imagine having to deal with all of that but she found her strength. Kofi and Kya was always meant to be and I'm happy love won!! Great read!

Kofi 😍😍

There is nothing like a good friends to lovers story and this one gave me all the feels. Kofi and Kya were meant to be. I’m glad they both stopped fighting their feelings and just let the love flow. August was a real f boy and Kya mom wasn’t nothing either. I was happy that they didn’t allow anyone to dictate their relationship. The perfect love story.

Deeper indeed

The story was a nice story with a deeper meaning about true love. I just hate the parents had such an impact on the heroine. Her hero had her back. I was just thinking about how parents set examples that aren't always good. Thank goodness for best friends with all the right parts and answers. Just Love.

Don't deny your heart

Kofi and Kya proved you can only deny your heart for so long before you figure out why no relationship ever worked except the one you were destined for. Sweet friends to lovers story. So happy Kya learned that you can't sacrifice your own happiness for the sake of anyone else.

Sweet

Short and sweet. Often times in love we settle and find ourselves looking for something deeper. If we stop long enough to really see what we’ve been missing we would see it’s been within reach all along!

This is my first time reading anything written by Ivy Laika, and I really loved her writing style.  The chemistry between best friends Kofi and Kya was sexy, their love was powerful and romantic, and I have no idea how these two managed to stay away from each other for as long as they did. I mean realistically, I understand WHY, but in fantasy romance world, I'm surprised these two didn't burst into flames whenever they were near each other! 😂😂 Case in point: The specific question that led to the hot as fire scene in kitchen!👀🔥🔥

Anyway, I loved that Kya had a man like Kofi in her life because--hello!! My goodness! The stuff she had to put up with was beyond ridiculous! The boyfriend (ex) practically sucked the life from her--that is whatever her family hadn't already snatched from her poor being.  My heart literally hurt for her, and I'm surprised she didn't sink into a deep depression. I'm not normally someone who has to read out loud in order to get the gist of what I'm reading, but let's just say there were a few choice words that sounded better being screamed from my lips to keep me from throwing my kindle!🤯

Kofi. Kofi. Kofi.  Even men who are sexy and smart and carry themselves as having all the confidence in the world can allow insecurities to sneak in every now and then.  And for a while, his insecurities cost him the woman he had always loved. Once he recognized it and was truly ready to be the man that Kya needed past being her best friend, he went about to make things right.

What I enjoyed most about this story was the amazing friend Kofi was to Kya. I loved how no matter what, he was always there for her, supported her, and even gave her space when she needed it.  There was also a gleeful part of me that was thoroughly pleased when he lit old boy up. That trifling ex of Kya's deserved everything Kofi dished out and a whole lot more.

I also give mad props to Kya for trying to reclaim her life back and be the woman she was always meant to be. I just wished she had a better family though.  Poor Kya gave them folks so many chances to do right by her.  They never stepped up to the plate. Not to me. That stuff at end was weak and a bare minimum effort at best.  But Kofi made sure she was loved unconditionally. What an amazing, sexy, and heart-felt friends-to-lovers story this was!

**There's just one thing I can't seem to let go. Since a lot of the story focused on Kya's family and how their treatment of her was essential to the way she saw herself, career choices, and relationships, I needed a bit more background on her parents. Why in the world were her parents like that?!🤷🏾‍♀️The siblings--I get it. They were raised by those people, but I couldn't for the life of me understand Kya's mother's motivations for her actions and behaviors, or even why her dad always just went along with it?!🙄 There has be a story there.

It amazes me that Kya came out of that upbringing a kind-hearted individual. Of course, we can most likely attribute that to her strong friendship with Kofi and her close relationship with his family.  But the way she was treated by her family was unacceptable, and if this was more than fantasy I would suggest some serious counseling for that kooky family of hers.

Beautiful read

My heart mourned for KYA, her family was the worst even when they tried to redeem themselves in the end for the damaged they caused her it felt inauthentic. Kofi was everything. He loved, listened, protected and had patience. There is no greater love than the ones that marinates for decades. Ivy definitely gave us a beautiful friends to lovers and I cant wit for more.

Kofi & Kya

I don’t know why it took me forever to read a book by this author, but it was nothing short of amazing! It was fantastic. I love Kofi. That man there is just about everything. The way he loved Kya and allowed her the time to heal before they went further in their relationship. August was every bit of an a-hole. Can’t believe what he was hiding. It has the perfect ending. I hope we get an update story on them.

Enjoyed their story

They have been besties since they were little children. Kya needed to heal from her ungrateful family. Her mother is cold. There's no way I would have allowed her to continue to mistreat me. Kofi never left her side throughout her ordeal. I'm glad Kofi was able to defend her honor even though she didn't like it.

Loved Kofi

I loved the H in this story. He was what the h needed and had been by her side for years. Didn’t like the h mama and sister they needed to take several seats. Glad her dad began to get a back bone but to me he could have years ago then her mama wouldn’t have been like that. The read got 5 stars cause of the love Kofi had for her.

I am so proud of Kya...she had me nervous, but she came through. Kofi was a dream and I am glad that he claimed his heart. Easy and mildly passionate read.

I enjoyed it

I enjoyed reading the story. It was a bit repetitive. The hero never missed a chance to let us know how much he loved the heroine. I was hoping a little more drama with the parents but it worked out smoothly in the end however it was frustrating to read about her mother's Behavior. But I'll definitely be more books by Ivy.

Great story

I loved Kofi, he truly loved Kya and vice versa. Her family was unbelievable cruel especially her mother and sister. Just the opposite of Kofi's loving and supportive family. This was really a great story.
