Korman’s Prayer: Survivors Of Auschwitz & Holocaust Survivor True Stories from World War 2

Rate this book
To live through the atrocities of World War II and the worst work camp in history, will no doubt change a person.

It shows how despite the worst circumstances, people can still show love and compassion toward one another. It strives to show that no matter how cruel the torture, the one thing the enemy cannot take is our spirit.

This novel is inspired by the story of Henry Korman’s life. It will give you an in-depth look at what life was like inside the barbed-wire fences of Auschwitz. It will also show you the effect that these experiences had on one man, leading him away from anger and hate, toward a life of service to others. A few years before he died, Henry was quoted as “I worry what will happen when I and others like me are no longer here to tell the story. I want people to keep reading about it and for them to leave tears on the paper.”

I hope that this book does exactly that.

I was asked to review by Lovereading.co.uk

I have read a lot around the Holocaust and having read The Tattooist of Auschwitz. I learnt that not all the death camps had tattoos of the prisoners. I nursed a polish gentleman in Bradford in the 90s who had tattooed numbers on his wrist- I remember my gasp and when he looked up he said I survived but said no more.

How anyone survived was a miracle, what they put up with was barbaric and in human and I constantly ask the question why did so many go along with this and let this happen- a long time ago but must be remembered.

I would recommend this book for school reading list it is brief but to the point and a great starting point to study in more depth.

I have heard a diary of a polish girl similar to Anne Frank has been in the vaults and is due for publication too.

This book was a sad and harrowing read and for us today we need to understand- yes I shed a tear and yes I asked the question why.

Recommended well written

Good

This story is very good and interesting but I felt a little cheated once read because it is so brief. The horror of the holocaust still comes through though and it's really s miracle anyone survived to tell the stories long it short

Good book

It is good to hear of a survivor that faith carried through. No one ever knows how they will react to a situation until they are placed into it. Hope is something we all must have no matter where we are.
