“Spiked is the kind of unconventional, billionaire boss, enemies-to-lovers “workplace” romance I didn’t know I needed. FIVE STARS, for a fresh take on this trope, Iris!”

In theory, moving halfway across the country to pursue your acting dream makes sense. But in reality, you’ll probably end up broke and working in a strip club owned by the city’s wealthiest man.

Suddenly losing her job puts Devin at risk of never realizing her dream of becoming an actress. So, when she overhears two women talking about a lucrative job offer, she does what any go-getter would do. She busts out her lucite heels and makes sure the job is hers.

The catch? The job is “waitressing” at Las Vegas’ most popular strip club, and as she finds out during the interview, her new boss is the most powerful, domineering and sexy-as-sin man in the entire city—Aaron Daniels. It’s only seven months, right?

Aaron knew he needed to find someone special as the final piece of his new, unconventional marketing plan for Pink Diamond Las Vegas.

But he didn’t anticipate just how different Devin would be. Attracted to her from the moment he laid eyes on her, she tests everything he has told himself over the last six years. When their complicated pasts collide and get tangled with the present, Aaron finds himself breaking every rule he set in an effort to keep Devin safe.

Spiked is a standalone novel, and the first of five books in the Pink Diamond Series, each book chronicling the love story of one of the owners of the club.

Spiked touches on the themes of sex work, domestic abuse, and is definitely a steamy read. Don’t pick it up if you’re faint of heart!

Iris is a contemporary romance writer and a hopeless romantic. If she could be any kind of book, she'd probably be a romance novel with a strong female lead. She loves writing page-turning, steamy romances for her readers.

Spiked by Iris Vu was an engaging and interesting novel. I couldn't stop reading it once I picked it up! I highly recommend it to anyone considering reading it who also enjoys an intense read covering a variety of complicated themes. It will not disappoint!

I am a fan of the "billionaire boss" and the "enemies-to-lovers" tropes, and Iris covered these tropes well! At the same time, the story wasn't cliche or a predictable read. It was very well-written with unique characters, plots/subplots, and conflicts. Her characters were multi-dimensional and stong. I enjoyed reading about Devin, the main character, who was willing to do anything to chase her goals and who excelled at what she did. Aaron, although at first appearing closed-off and intense, is a character who you soon are able to understand and love. They were two characters who seemed perfect for each other even from the very beginning! Aaron and Devin (and the supporting characters, as well) really added to the story as a whole and you can't help but to want them to succeed. Their journey as a couple is definitely not an easy one, but it is for sure one worth reading. I loved all the conflicts of their journey and the way Devin and Aaron approached them. It made it that much more satisfying when you reached the end. Iris is able to give a satisfying ending while also including just enough possibilities for the rest of the series. I cannot wait to see what she decides to write for Luc's story and what she has in store for the rest of the series! Five out of five stars!

This book was so cute! Devin was a fantastic lead character: she was gutsy and determined and vulnerable, and I think Aaron was a really good match for her. Both were driven and had their own dreams and identities. I was rooting for them both by the end! One qualm: Aaron comes across one dimensional and hypermasculine at the beginning (he drinks too much and gets in fights) but keep reading! His experiences explain why he's formed this identity and these habits, and I thought his character ended up being well-written and internally consistent. Overall, it made me happy!

Note: if you don't like steamy scenes, proceed with caution. I'm more of a cutesy romance-lover, so I skimmed at a couple points. Worth doing so! It has plenty of cute in there too.

Wow, an amazing start of the ‘Pink Diamond’ series; it is absolutely fantastic and quite the page-turner! This story hooked me from the beginning and kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. It is well written with a well-developed storyline that emotionally deep and moves along at a brisk pace. The suspense, action, witty banter, and humour kept my heart racing from all the excitement. The characters are amazing and perfect together; their chemistry is instant, potent, and off the charts. I can hardly wait to read book 2. Definitely recommended!

This book is full of action, thrills, opinionated individuals, chemistry and love. I loved this book and found it to be well written. I am not familiar with this author, but if this is her style then I will be looking for more by her. This is a great start to a series.

This was a very good read with well-developed characters and a great story line. Just enough mystery and unresolved hunger for each other until they give in to each other.
