Overall, this is very helpful and a great place to start but it isn’t good enough to be your only means of studying.
As I read, I had to look up words and concepts I wasn’t immediately familiar with to help with understanding. Sometimes, there were acronyms that weren’t defined at all that I had to look up but that helps me learn anyhow.
The practice tests were kind of maddening. They don’t strictly test what you just learned, they instead tend to introduce new concepts that weren’t covered in what you just read... but are important nonetheless.
On the positive, the answer keys to the practice tests are very detailed so if you take the time to go through each one, you learn a lot and it reinforces what was already taught.
Anyways, it seems like a small book for the price and (there are sections that are literally in multiple places word for word copied) but there is a ton of information in it regardless and the more practice tests, the better.
I found it helpful and since I didn’t buy the $300 book, it was worth it. If I had bought that one, this one wouldn’t have been necessary.
I passed the 2020 test using this book, 9 hour aPHR study guide on YouTube (listened to it at least three time), a bunch of HR basic YouTube videos and lots of random internet searches on things I wasn’t familiar with. The key is to over learn and reference the HRCI aPHR outline when searching for what to learn. This book definitely helped.
