I bought this book having met the author at a local festival in St Bernard Parish, La. In full disclosure, this is “my kind of book”. Historical fiction set in Louisiana or Hawaii are my literary jam. Ironically I started this book on 2/22/2020. Just two weeks before Covid19 came down hard on our home of New Orleans. I’ve been reading it as we struggled through all the same issues as a society. An infectious disease, a quarantine, business shut down, fortunes at stake, influence and power at odds with politics and public health, a possible government cover up. It was art mirroring life. That said the book itself I loved. Well done, authentic, colorful, intriguing and incredibly timely. Loved it!!
