C. G. Cooper is the USA TODAY and AMAZON BESTSELLING author of the CORPS JUSTICE novels, several spinoffs and a growing number of stand-alone novels.
One of his novels, CHAIN OF COMMAND, won the 2020 James Webb Award presented by the Marine Heritage Foundation for its portrayal of the United States Marine Corps in fiction. Cooper doesn't chase awards, but this one was special.
Cooper grew up on a steady diet of Dungeons & Dragons and the travels of a Navy family.
Upon graduating from the University of Virginia with a degree in Foreign Affairs, Cooper was commissioned in the United States Marine Corps and went on to serve six years as an infantry officer. C. G. Cooper's final Marine duty station was in Nashville, Tennessee, where he fell in love with the laid-back lifestyle of Music City.
His first published novel, BACK TO WAR, came out of a desire to link back to his time in the Marine Corps. That novel, written as a side project, spawned many follow-on novels, several exciting spinoffs, and catapulted Cooper's career.
Cooper lives just south of Nashville with his wife, three children, and their German shorthaired pointer, Liberty, who's become a popular character in the Corps Justice novels.
This is an exciting suspence/thriller worthy of some of my favorite authors like Jack Silkstone and Tom Clancy.
During a trip to Columbia, Hunter Price discovers a wonder plant that he will eventually turn into a cure for cancer. When the secret is about to fall into the wrong hands Dr. Price grabs his notes and all of the cure he can smuggle out of the laboratory and makes a run for it setting off a chain of events that will eventually end with his cure being turned into a weapon.
Will those determined to weaponize his discovery win and use it to kill millions of people? And who is behind the sinister plan? What do they really want?
C.G. Cooper does an awesome job of writing a thriller that kept pulling me along from beginning to end. I didn't want to stop listening I wanted to know what happened next.
D.J. Holte does a fine job with the narration. For the most part he kept his character voices distinct enough so I could always keep straight who was speaking at any given time. Still many voices sounded very similar so that it was occasionally confusing which is why I could not give his performance 5 stars.
Overall I enjoyed this book very much and can see myself buying more books in the series.
I received this book from the narrator in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed the premise of this story and believe it to be extremely plausible. The author writes his thoughts about a cure for cancer and what all the medical and pharmaceutical would do...cover it up, of course, as a cure would cause this group to lose trillions of dollars of profit and many jobs within the sector. My friends and I have had the same discussion and believe the above statement to be true.
In Lethal Misconduct, Cal is fired from SSi and goes to work for the President, who allows him to set up a new company and staff it with troops of his choice. He sets up this new group near the campus of the University he had attended in Virginia prior to joining the Marine Corps and hires most of the characters from SSI. Their first mission is to investigate rumors of a group building biological weapons within the U.S. The bad guys have ties within the government and are led by a former Army Colonel and his trusty bodyguard (a former Secret Service agent). They are funded by billionaires and CEO's of several larger pharmaceutical companies.
The doctor who had originally developed this possible cure for cancer, after visiting with a witch doctor in South America, was testing it on terminally ill patients and found them cured within a couple of days. However, his former employer - the Colonel - had stolen all of his work but was missing one piece of the puzzle. The good doctor is on the run and hiding from the Colonel's henchmen - no longer trusting his old boss. As fate has it, Cal's team stumble across the good doctor and agree to help him.
The billionaires are being duped and only three of the dozen people involved in the success of this plan have different agendas once they get the missing piece and complete this new drug. However, it's not planned as a cure - instead they are making a biological weapon and plan to launch it in the middle east. Having finally come upon this new plot, Cal and his team race to stop the implementation of this deadly threat.
Lethal Misconduct is one of the better books within the series and I highly recommend it. In fact, I stayed up late and finished the book in a single setting - just couldn't put it down! Looking forward to reading the final published book in the series and the new ones promised for next year. Great job Mr. Cooper!

If you like military-type thrillers, C.G. Cooper's "Corps Justice" series may be of interest to you. This is a self-published series - and everyone who has read much by self-published authors is rolling his or her eyes right now. But, if you have read a lot by self-published authors you also know that while some self-published authors are really deluding themselves, some can really deliver the goods. In this case, C.G. Cooper is one of those that can really do the job.
Now, don't get me wrong, this is a thriller and that means it is fairly formulaic- like westerns and romance novels, military thrillers seem to have just a few standard plot lines. In this case, this book features an all-star team of experts who are working for a gifted leader with a great moral vision who is also independently wealthy.
This book is a great place to start in the series (it's where I started) because the team has just been assembled and it's clear that the series is moving off in a slightly different direction. In this case, this private, elite squadron is working unofficially for the President of the United States to take care of situations that cannot be officially handled on the books.
Now, normally this would be a problem (depending on your politics, imagine either of the last two presidents with access to an off-the-books elite military unit with almost no operational restraints and then shiver)...
Cal Stokes, heir to SSI, is given his marching orders from the new CEO "The Hammer," as he is becoming a threat to be the reason SSI is outed to the world. After working out the details, he takes a handpicked few and moves to a new site in Virginia. A new case is brought up by Neil, his computer expert and backed by Jason who is bankrolling the new facilities. The lead that someone's curing individuals who have cancer, turns ugly and a new WWMD, biological, is poised to be released in the mid-east targeting Arabic peoples. Hang on, the action and ride just took on new meaning. Great reading and writing.
Just imagine what will happen , no more oncologists, drug companies making trillions and cancer treatment centers. This story takes you there, good vs evil. Fast moving, edge of the seat page turner. "The number of nefarious characters hiding in plain sight, under the auspices of the U.S. government".
Hmmm, a book about a possible pandemic. But started by corrupt politicians (but wait...isn't that an oxymoron?), in our own country. Scary, how easily that could happen. Thank goodness for Cal and his men. Unfortunately real life is not fiction.
'Lethal Misconduct' was another great book in an awesome series. The storyline was well written and the way it played out was suspenseful and intriguing. Full of action, thrilling scenarios, the ever present deceit and great characters. I wasn't sure how this book would go after the ending of book 5 and Cal being asked to leave SSI. But with the help of Daniel, Trent, Gaucho, Dr. Higgins and Neil I knew it would be fine. I look forward to reading the next book. A great add to your tbr list.
A cure for cancer. Unfortunately, the cure has gotten into the wrong hands. It's now a biological weapon. It can target certain ethnic groups and have a negative effect on others. Monetary impact? Billions in profit. Cal and his group of operators work for POTUS. This biological weapon has to be stopped. Now Cal and his small group of operators, the Jefferson Group are the only obstacle in their way. A top notch thriller!
Another great book by CG Cooper. This one interested me because of the subject... biological warfare. Intriguing and suspenseful, the plot moved along very well. I like how Cooper leaves out pieces of the story that aren’t really necessary. It helps keep the pace and it always surprises me at the start of a chapter that I thought would start with something else! Read it. You’ll like it.
I have to say, when starting this book, I was a little concerned because of the dramatic ending of the previous book. However, no need to be worried at all. This instalment was fantastic. Cal and the team come to the rescue again but in a novel way this time. A brilliantly written book again and I’m off to start book 7. Another 5 star award.
In love with C.G. Cooper's novels. This is my 2nd novel of the author and believe me that they keep you hooked. Dr. Paris has found a cure for Cancer and is in process of experimenting the drug. However, he's sidetracked by his boss who has other plans with the drug. Cal Stokes and Team are in pursuit to stop the Boss from devastating human race. Who's the Boss? What's is his devastating plan? Read this medical thriller to know the answers.

Great fast reads, I have read a lot of his books and throughly enjoyed them all. Could be a little longer but the series follows well so that works well. I have some to know all the players and want to know more about them. Daniel “snake eyes” would be a great story alone.
A bit more predictable than previous Corps Justice books. The action was less intense, and the plot a little thin. However, it does bridge between #5 and #7 and sets up the next book in the series, so is a must-read for avid CJ fans.
As I read the first four books last year, and a couple of select releases recently, I just purchased the balance of books in the series. Now having great time reading them all
The series continues, highlighting the actions of brave dedicated true Americans that live to protect the rest of us. This book introduces a very frightening what if scenario.
What a great book after my previous read, this was what I needed. Cooper spins a close nit tale that keeps me turning pages. I could hardly put it down. Now we have Cal going on with more great stories to come , thanks Cooper
Men can do a lot of bad things in name of country but their heroes like Cal Stoke and his team who are there to stop them at their own behest and at the President pleasure. Thank for your service.
Once again the Corps of Justice saves the world. Another exciting story by a great author. Highly recommend this interesting tale. Now on ward to the next story in this series ....
Having read several of his books, I'm now in the Corps Justice series, and not bored yet. His ideas are fresh and creative. The stories always take unexpected twists and turns. It's a good thing for me there a several books left in the series!
I have to admit, I didn't think the team would find Cromwell and his cohorts. I'm glad they did. I was sorry the book didn't go into how Dr Price went out to discover the serum. The book was good though and I can't wait to read the next one.
Sure wish all these things in the stories could come true. The world needs a good cancer cure, a diabetic cure, and a fat cure. The last May be the easiest, with a tweaking of the right genes.
The core group of operatives begin setting up campus in northern Virginia and doing special assignments for the president. The group has to follow subtle clues to complete the mission. Very enjoyable series
I believe I’ve read all of Coopers books and have enjoyed everyone of them easy to read and enjoy .The only problem I have is the one that won’t let me put it down .Actually that’s a good thing and that why I keep looking for more ...Thanks
Enjoying this series. Already have the next couple of books in the series. I love the character development. I enjoy the revealing of their background and history.
It is worthwhile to read each of this authors books. The protagonist serves to move through a series of books by creating differing scenarios in each book. Highly recommend without giving anything away. . .
