Through desperate tactics and by deliberately keeping a low profile, we survived the machine assaults longer than any human or cybership thought possible. But now our luck has deserted us. The main A.I. brain-core has just given human extinction top priority. The robots are massing an armada to exterminate us.We’ve done what we could in expectation of this grim day, grabbing enemy factory planets to mass produce warships. And we found an ally, the Star Lords of Roke. But it’s just not enough, damn it.We need more…like the alien void ship Hawkins once saw. Or maybe we can make a deal with the treacherous Cog Primus. One thing’s sure. We’d better do it soon or we’ll join thousands of other extinct species obliterated by the hateful death machines.A.I. VOID SHIP is the sixth book in the series chronicling humanity’s war for survival against the galactic machine juggernaut. The series starts with book 1, A.I. DESTROYER.
I was born in Canada and remember as a small boy crawling in my snow-fort. I closed my eyes, and when I tried to open them, they were frozen shut. I didn't panic, but wiped away the ice crystals, unglued my eyes and kept on building my tunnel. Those were great days! I moved to Central California before seventh grade and couldn't believe I lived in a land where oranges grew on trees and you could pick grapes from the vine.
I used to wonder what I wanted to do with my life, what kind of work specifically. I was miserable not knowing and bordering on desperate. Then one day a friend gave me his typewriter. I began working on a novel. A different person told me it was much easier on a computer, so I bought one and began getting up at 4:30 A.M. each morning before work, writing for three hours. My eyes were unglued once again as the pang of misery left my gut. I knew exactly what I wanted to do: write. So now that's what I do, I write, and write, and write, and I love it.
Another rousing and epic space battle against the AI force intent on eliminating all biological species in the galaxy. Only Jon Hawkins stands in their way. And with a force that is miniscule compared to what the AI's can put forth it will talk a miracle for him and humanity to succeed.
A thrill ride of defeat and redemption this is a great book in a great series by a great author.
Great expansion of the war with the AI's with introduction of the Enoy (Long time for of the Machines)
Fascinating continuation of the story of the AI's and John Hawkins. I enjoyed the enjoyed the expanded character development of the crew and hope to see more of it in the series. Will say that at around 2\3rd 's of the way through the story became a bit predictable and was losing excite!ent but then everything turned upside down for the crew and their new plan of action to save the human race (at least for a little while longer). Excited to learn more about the other life forms in the Orion Belt in the next book or two as how the Confederation builds to defend life against the machines. The emergence of the Enoy was thoughtfully placed and left me wanting to know more about them and the 20000 year was with the machines...but I still want to know who made the AI. At this point I am getting on the Enoy created their eternal enemy. Can't wait to continue the story.
When the odds are stacked so high against you, conventional wisdom tells you to abandon all hope and, in this case, many people chose to flee. Hawkins knee it’s better to die trying than to flee and live a horrible life of fugitives. But he was a lucky man, or should I say, god sides the man who tries the hardest and helps the man who helps himself. In this case other sentient aliens have taken notice and they are extending their help which makes the plot believable.
This will be my last A.I. novel. I have listened to the first 6 on Audible, and they switched narrators after 6 books. That is a no-no, so I'll complete the series here.
I am a fan of Vaughn Heppner's but I think he takes a story too far. Both the Lost Starship and this series should have concluded by books 5 or 6. Taking a story arc into book 11 or 12 or whatever is harmful to the overall story, and you lose readers along the way.
The story continues. What an ingenious idea. I love how Hawkins relies on those around him, seeking inspiration. The mark of a true leader. Love the direction this story is headed and the unique characters presented. Look forward to the next book in this series. Great job Vaughn!
It was easy to talk back into this series. The continuation of the battle goes on for all. The progression of the story is well done. I like the fact that he has others coming in with solutions and not just the main character of the series.
Action and character-filled book that leaves the reader wanting the next volume in the series and feeling frustrated that it does not yet exist! Keep writing, please!
Vaughn Heppner continues to delight me in his imagination. In the book Jon Hawkins inspires me to fight and never give up on life’s struggles. He has a moral code and always tries to do the right thing in his life. Well done, Vaughn
Enjoy able read with some twists, although the main one was pretty obvious. I guess the next one will introsuce fresh narratives and take on how Alien culture may be more alien than we can think of.
Great series! If you’re a SciFi fan you will really like this one!
I usually look for a longer series like this one as I read constantly. Usually by this point, book 6, they start to get repetitive and boring, not this one!
A thoroughly good read! Even being a way through the series, this still has excitement and interest Perhaps things might have slowed down a bit in terms of action and adventure, but no, this has been a very good read
Great manuever....enjoyed the suspense.... Looking forward to next decisions...amazing how situations from your novel can assume a sort of reality to present day occurrences.... Hmmmm
I've thoroughly enjoyed this series of stories. The vast distances described and the relative time it takes to get there are staggering. Great stories!
I’ve enjoyed reading the books and look forward to the remaining books in the series. I would recommend the series to anybody that’s looking for an easy escape.
