This book had a lot of information in the beginning so you can understand why this diet is important to so many people. I do however wish there was a bit more nutritional information especially with the recipes given. I did try a few recipes and thought they were very good. I am always looking to change my recipes up and this is a good addition to doing that. I am giving this book 3.5 stars.
This book purports to be for beginners. I think it is more of a recipe book with a few short articles about the ketogenic diet itself. I found these articles to be heavily biased and light on fact. If you're hoping to gain true information about this diet to help you better understand it, you would do better to look elsewhere.
The recipes are divided into three sections, breakfast and brunch (30), dinner ideas (31), and snack recipes (10). I have actually written cookbooks myself, so I tend to be a stickler when I look at the format of recipes and how they are laid out. In this cookbook, I definitely found some issues. Some titles are misleading. For instance, the coconut egg scramble, the second recipe in the breakfast section, would lead you to think that it has coconut in it from the title, but it only has coconut oil.
The ingredient lists are inconsistent; they don’t always follow the order in which the ingredients are used. Sometimes the preparation didn’t follow the ingredients when it needed to do so--you can’t have “1 diced bell pepper”; it should read “1 bell pepper, diced”. Sometimes a piece of information that wasn't preparation followed the ingredient (like “12 strips bacon, organic cooked”). Sometimes the formatting of the directions wasn't correct either. In at least one place, a paragraph was styled as a header, not as text. There are also issues in the entire book with grammar, punctuation, and usage. They were definitely issues with commas (especially not preceding a preparation method), spacing, and capitalization. This book needs an editor, one who specializes in cookbooks.
As to the recipes themselves, I thought some sounded interesting while others made me question the flavor profile. For instance, I can't quite imagine a zucchini and coconut flake egg scramble. Some of the amounts of the ingredients in recipes is concerning. For example, the first omelet calls for three eggs but one entire bell pepper that's been diced. It would seem that that recipe would be more of a bell pepper dish with a little bit of egg binding them than a true omelet.
If you have an interest in the ketogenic diet, I would suggest looking through the table of contents before deciding to purchase to see if these types of recipes would interest you.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
So first off let me just say, I am completely new to the keto diet. I have heard of it but previous to reading this book, had no education of the diet. I feel like this book has definitely helped me to have a better understanding of what it's all about. Although I haven't made any of the recipes yet, I can already tell I will like so many of them. They seem quite easy and fast to prepare, which is how I like to cook. I don't want something that is extremely elaborate or will take a long time. The reason I gave the book four stars is because even though it does seem very informative, I feel like it could have been even more thorough. For instance, to make it even easier for a newbie I wish that there could have been a quick guide list of ok foods and foods to avoid. Also, I am a cook that prefers a visual, so pictures of the finished recipes would have been nice. But overall, I think it's a very helpful book and I'm looking forward to trying out the recipes.

This is a fairly good starter and reference book if you are interested in exploring or starting a Ketogenic diet. I tried some of the recipes and most were tasty and filling. If you have additional diet restrictions or food sensitivities then you do have to skip some of the recipes or substitute some ingredients.
The book does give some good reference and referral information which you can keep going back to if you decide on a Keto lifestyle eating plan. I really do have the work "diet" as all changes in your eating should really be changes in your lifestyle and not just a quick and temporary diet.
I would recommend Ketogenic Diet For Beginners - Essential Guide To Keto Lifestyle with 70 Easy, Fast & Delicious Recipes for all explorers or beginners or to anyone that would like some good reference material and some easy and tasty recipes to try.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
One thing I really like about this book is it encourages you to ease into Keto by starting with a Keto breakfast for awhile and then add Keto snacks in a finally Keto dinners. I am assuming that there are no specific lunches because the heading is Breakfast/Brunch. This book is not extensive, but it is a good overview. I have been interested in trying Keto and this is the least intimidating introduction I have read. The recipes were easy to shop for and prepare.

Covers the basics and the science behind the Leto diet. Some of the recipes sound good but I’m a picky eater so 80% of the recipes I won’t cook since they have fish/seafood, spinach, mushrooms (I’m allergic to) and/or have expensive items where the cheapest thing at my closest store will cost $15 (coconut oil alone) I was interested is this diet and the process behind it but I just can’t afford most of the organic and non-gmo items.
I am a diabetic and I have been trying to cut carbs so that I can lower the pills/insulin I take. It is difficult for a carboholic like me. This book has helped me, though I have only changed one meal so far. It is a process and this is an awesome book to make a lifestyle change.
