I have been a huge fan of Juliette Sobanet since her Paris books came out but this new book shocked me. Where her Paris books wrap you in warmth and love this book wraps you in suspense and excitement. I didn't realize until today how long this book was. It usually takes me a while to get through a book but I couldn't put this book down and I finished in 4 days. It turned, twisted and took you off in directions you never saw coming your way. I highly recommend this book and this author. GO!!! GO DOWNLOAD RIGHT NOW!!!! You won't be sorry.
Oh, this was so good! This erotic thriller by one of my very favorite authors is now my favorite. It's dark, intense and how Danielle intertwines all the characters is brilliant! Eve is the author of a new memoir about her foray into the world of prostitution. After an intense first encounter with "Dex" she vows to never see him again. Of course she doesn't take her own advice and plunges head first into a relationship that she cannot control. Eve disappears the day she is scheduled on a flight from Paris to New York to promote her book. What follows is a story that will leave you wanting to keep reading at every spare moment. Put it on you want to read list! It's dark, filled with steamy scenes, and an intense thriller.
So many unexpected twists and turns in this book! Damaged people that were all too human. The women in this story were so real to me, so full of life, fear, love, sorrow... Just exceptional. Kept me turning the pages, I had to know what would happen next. Eve and Sophia had me invested in their journey, captivated by them. So well written!
I’m not a reader of thrillers or erotica but I am a fan of the writing Danielle has done under the name of Juliette Sobanet, so I was both excited to try something new and not sure what to expect with this erotic thriller. I was absolutely blown away by how much I loved it. I’ll jump right in to a few of my favorite things about this book:
It was a fast-paced, immersive read. I didn’t have to make any effort; it seemed as if the words themselves swept my eyes across the pages. I couldn’t stop reading and unlike with many books, I didn’t have the urge to stop and play on my phone every few minutes.
Sophia, one of our POVs, is English, or half-English, and instead of learning about it once and forgetting it for the rest of the book we are gently reminded by the very English words sprinkled in her vocabulary. It would have probably been easier to give her all American words since she’s lived in the US for so long and I really appreciated the extra effort that went into writing this character and giving her that little something extra to make her stand out.
This is the first thriller I have ever enjoyed reading! It is fast-paced, constantly evolving, and has just the right amount of hinting at mysteries in character’s pasts without wishing we would just find out already. Only one of my suspicions came true and I was pleasantly or shockingly surprised for the rest of the reveals.
I usually stay away from romance or erotica genres because I’m just not into reading about sex in detail. This books definitely talks about sex (part of it is the memoir of a prostitute) but doesn’t go into extreme, graphic detail and I felt comfortable reading throughout the whole book.
All of the characters felt like fully-formed, real people. None of them felt flat or underdeveloped, which can be challenging when you have this many points of view. We are left with quite the cliff-hanger and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
An edge of seat erotica thriller that will keep you up all night! I've been a long time fan of Juliette Sobanet since her first book, Sleeping With Paris, came out. This is her first book under her real name, Danielle Porter, and her writing style is different from her other books. It takes place in Paris in a dark world of prostitution. A new author who's also a paid prostitute went missing the day before the release of her new best-selling memoir about her affairs with a wealthy American man who happens to be her client. Her former college teacher from America and a French police detective investigate into her disappearance which take them into the erotic world of prostitution and the dark pasts that everyone tried to leave behind. I really enjoyed this first book of the new series, and I look forward to the next one!
My co-worker introduced me to this book. Let's just say that me and her do not share similar tastes when it comes to books, however this suggestion was EVERYTHING!!! I got the book on the kindle owners lending library, but I ended up purchasing it.
I did not want to stop reading this book some nights. It really kept me on my toes. I highlighted sections and took notes(which I hardly ever do). It kept me guessing.... The characters are so complex and beautiful. It was truly invested in each one! All the different story lines and how they come together....Ah!!! Spectacular!!!! Do not pass up on this book!
I have so enjoyed reading all of Juliette Sobenat’s books this book she has written under the name Danielle Porter. This is a quick read and Is filled with erotica, suspense and twist and turns that you simply don’t see coming
I took my time, soaking in the good warped sense of “love” that was Eve. Really just good and dark! A lot of plot twists in the end. Taking a day to absorb. I was thoroughly entertained
Infidelity. It's a word that scares even the most secure of relationships. A word often avoided for fear of inviting the unwanted. But what if infidelity was built into a relationship? What if it were not only allowed, but expected? Is there a line that shouldn't be crossed? What if it was?
Danielle Porter's ALL THE BEAUTIFUL BODIES is what would happen if THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN and FIFTY SHADES OF GRAY were to hook up and have a love child. And the question of fidelity is at the heart of the story.
Sex? Check.
Sketchy characters? Check.
Claustrophobic pacing? Check.
Eve Winters, a woman with a violent past, goes missing just before the release of her sexually charged, tell-all, a memoir of her journey into the life of prostitution and the one man who she may have ever truly loved.
When writing professor, Sophia Grayson, reads her former student's explicit memoir, she begins to suspect the man in Eve's novel is non other than her husband. Shell-shocked, despite the agreement between her and her husband, she boards a plane for Paris to discover the truth of her dispassionate marriage, a marriage that has been buried in years of lies and loss and has become all-too comfortably numb. Or so she thought. Could her husband really be behind the disappearance of Eve?
BODIES is a slick paced thriller from an author that is otherwise known for her fun, romantic, and sunny stories. In it, Danielle Porter (a.k.a. Juliette Sobanet, ONE NIGHT IN PARIS, CONFESSIONS OF A CITY GIRL) expertly captures the downward spiral of the human condition as it questions fidelity of marriage, exposing the hidden truth behind Eve's disappearance through the steamy pages of Eve's memoir and the unraveling of Sophia's mind as she begins to put it all together and suspect the worst.
What's really interesting about BODIES is this idea of a story within a story. You'll read key pieces to Eve's memoir as Sophia struggles to put them together, all while striking a nerve about how much we understand of our own relationships. I've read a few other novels that have strived to do something similar with mixed results, but Danielle manages to put it all together without reminding you that you're reading, and for me, that's a winner.
The questions Porter asks here might strike a little too close to home for some. They shine a light on an aspect of life most would rather pretend didn't exist. Her writing crafts characters that demand empathy and sympathy and, like trying to catch that morbid glimpse of a covered body when passing an accident, keeps us glued to the page, even when in disgust.
If you're a fan of Paula Hawkins with a dose of E.L. James, then ALL THE BEAUTIFUL BODIES needs to be next on your TBR list.
I could not put this book down. I enjoyed it from the minute I opened it to the last page. Well written, entertaining, suspenseful and romance too. This book has it all and it would make a great movie.
Synopsis: Eve Winters wrote a memoir about her life as an exclusive lady of the night with Dex Anderson. On the day of the release she goes missing. Detective Jean-Marc now has to find out what has happened to her. Unraveling secrets along the way with explosive consequences. Across the ocean, her former teacher is set to attend the release, when news reaches her about Eve’s disappearance. As she reads into the memoir, shocking revelations come forward which prompt her to do her own investigating. What more truths are there to unfold?
Storyline. OMG this story got me glued to my couch! I truly love a good thriller. Deeper into the rabbit hole I went going along with the characters to find out what happened, and who did it.
Characters: Eve- what a beautiful damaged woman she is. Trying to stay strong through whatever life has thrown at her. She keeps trying to swim against the tide to reach calmer waters. But love is a tricky b@st@rd. Dex- the tall sophisticated gentleman, the cause of a woman's dispair and heartache. I could just slap him, he was so well written to be hated. Sophia-her own scars hide the painful truths staring right back at her. She is so strong, so smart, a force to reckon with besides everything she is going thru.
🌶️: Some delicious scenes, but just enough to stop it from becoming just as any other spicy crime thriller. Also not OTT to skip scenes. No I read through it all without skipping!
Overall thought… It was fantastic!!! A definite must-read if you are into thrillers. Can’t wait to read book 2 in this series when it comes out!!
Thanks to the author for a review copy of this book.
Author Eve Winters lives her life as secluded as possible. Everything changes, however, when she releases a tell-all memoir about her life as a prostitute and her affair with a married man.
Sophia Grayson, who is Eve’s former student and an author herself, attends Eve’s book signing, except Eve is MIA. An announcement is made that Eve has gone missing. Although disappointed, Sophia decides to delve into Eve’s memoir.
Filled with twists, turns, and scandals, All the Beautiful Bodies is a sexy thriller you don’t want to miss!
Danielle Porter has an amazing way of taking hold of the reader and not releasing until the very last page!! I loved the suspense of this novel!! My mind was racing with who, how, when?? So many thoughts going through my mind. Just when I thought I knew The Who or the How… I was wrong! I can’t wait to see what Eve winters is up to next!! So often a reader can solve the mystery before the ending but not so with All The Beautiful Bodies. Bravo!!! And might I add this beginning of this novel has you blushing from all the steamy sex scenes!! Wow!!
This book surprised me in a very good way. This twisty thriller intertwined suspense, mystery, drama and romance. I thought I knew where it was going but I did not and that happened again and again. I found myself captivated by the complex characters with their complex motives. They were all flawed and immoral and yet I somehow developed concern for each of them by the end of the book. Well-placed cliffhangers made the plot unpredictable, and kept me from putting it down. Don’t start this book at bedtime unless you enjoy getting zero sleep.
I had this book in my kindle for a while and wasn’t ready to read it, until I opened it up after finishing another book at the beach. I was captivated from the first chapter and didn’t want to put it down. Wow just wow. There was so much drama and twists in this story. I can’t wait until the second one.
Couldn’t stop reading and reading! Love the story, the characters and the description of the places made me feel I was there. Love it! BTW, I need the second one so bad!! 😀
I am both the light and the darkness, and I must find a way to move forward with all of it.
American author Eve Winters, 29, has been reported missing from her apartment in Paris when she was scheduled on a flight from Paris to New York to launch her debut novel The Mistress of Paris: A Memoir. It seems no coincidence that Eve Winters’ sexually explicit memoir in which she details her scandalous foray into the world of high-end prostitution and her dangerous affair with a married American businessman—released the exact same day as she was reported missing. What follows is a story that will leave you wanting to keep reading at every spare moment.
I have finished reading All the Beautiful Bodies last night and I’m still overhelmed by how good this book was. It is very difficult for me to put my thoughts into words right now because I can say I have quite a book hangover! I have read and loved all books Danielle Porter has writtern under her pen name Juliette Sobanet but this book is on a new level. In my opionion All the Beautiful Bodies is one of the best books Danielle has ever written, maybe even the best. Her genre switch must be appluaded – not many authors can do that, I’m sure a lot of authors try, but not many get it published and Danielle has achieved that feat! I’m so happy for Danielle that she was so brave enough to try something new in a completely new genre. I feel a little bad because Danielle sent me the book a long time ago and I haven’t read it until now. I have the feeling that the genre has held me back a little. An erotic thriller is not what I normally read. Sometimes you must leave your comfort zone and I’m very glad I did that this time.
The book is not only about to solve the case of Eve Winters disappearance, it’s about so much more. It is this story within a story. There are a few well thought out storylines interviend into each other which come together perfectly by the end. The interviened storylines bring also a perfect and also very well structured book. The story is filled with so many twists and turns that keep you turning page after page. It is almost impossible to put the book down. I was completely on edge while reading and I couldn’t stop reading. All the characters are very powerfully portrayed and the felt like fully-formed. Nothing is missing here.
All the Beautiful Bodies is such a fast-paced, clever, and complex thriller with so many layers to be revealed. I loved it! I am desperate for the follow up. I want to know what happened to The Diamond Girl so badly!
