I am a relative newcomer to the ttrpg scene, so Uncaged was among the first -BIG- products that I picked up. I think it was even the first physical 5e book that I purchased, and I am so happy that I did.
The adventures inside are certainly fun to run, but they’re also fun to read. Alternative explanations to some famous (and infamous) myths and fairy tales. This is a genre of writing that really speaks to me, as I quite love taking classic stories and turning them on their head.
Like any anthology with multiple writers and stories, some work better than others. But the beauty of running a Dungeons & Dragons game is that you can simply use what you love and keep the rest as an option for later. One thing that I do wish this book had was a through-line. Each adventure is drastically separate and would take a lot of mental gymnastics to stitch together. But all-in-all, a solid outing— I can’t wait to continue the series!
