I told her that I ruin things, especially people. She’s so innocent and good. I gave her the chance to walk away.
She didn’t.
Now she’s going to pay the price.
Desperate to support her family and pay for college, Virginia Mayhew Porter, a Southern fish out of water in glamorous San Francisco, decides to auction her virtue. Only the man who claims her is having second thoughts!
International billionaire Tony Lee doesn’t want to grow a conscience and do the right thing with Virginia, but his dark desires might overwhelm her and leave her forever ruined. Can he hold back? Or will he unleash the full force of his passions?
Ruined is the fifth standalone book in the His for a Week sexy contemporary romance series. If you like dark heroes, scorching heat, and taking Fifty Shades of Grey to a whole new level, then you’ll love Em Brown’s fiery tale.
After accidentally flashing the audience with her knickers, Em Brown decided that writing was a safer activity. She enjoys writing romance, particularly erotic historicals. For more about her works, visit www.EroticHistoricals.com.
Ruined is the fifth story in "His For A Week" series but can be read as standalone since this is a new couple.
For Virginia, it's not easy to make ends meet. Working in a hotel while studying is tough plus the fact that she's helping her adoptive family. So when she heard from a co-worker that she can earn a whopping 20K just for a week, Virginia is a bit apprehensive but she knew that amount of money will surely help her. She got the surprise of her life when she met her "date for a week" Tony Lee -- her boss. Would she still do it?
I thought the book was well written and had a good, definitely scorching, amount of BDSM romance, but in a few spots was a bit slow; however, it really didn’t deter from my overall enjoyment. Loved it!

This is certainly a hot read, no sweet romance here, but very entertaining. Virginia is quite adventurous and she has strong social values. She is often in conflict with herself over her actions. She has a deep love for her family. Tony is continually warning Virginia that he is bad for her but this seems to urge her on. Virginia does seem to have some effect on Tony and he listens to her opinions. I hope to read more of these two characters. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I usually like Em Brown’s books, but this was a bit too extreme for me. Hard BDMS is really not my forte, but if you are then this book, this series is for you.
If you lean toward hot, steamy books you should definitely try this! A girl from the South, N.C., finds herself in SanFrancisco. To be able to go to college she works at an uptown hotel as a maid. She wants to help her brother get a Schlorship & she would like to go to Oakland. Well, Tony Lee shows up & he is Asian & has lived in Vietnam & France & is a Multi Billionaire!
This is when it starts to get hot! Virginia & Tony get involved & you learn about them. At first, I didn’t care that much for either of them but, they’ll grow upon you! I would definitely recommend this book! I can hardly wait to get to the next one!
This my fifth reading of the His for a week series. Spoiler alert: No one seems to last an entire week. With that said, RUINED follows a similar pattern to the previous books. Although this is a standalone book, if you haven't read the first four, you should really read them. Personally, I don't want this to be the end of Virginia and Tony. I want more. There was no cliffhanger prompting me to believe there's more. There is that "leave it to the reader to decide", "write your own ending" pause at the end. I loved Ben and Kimani. I had hoped we would get a little more of them. No mention of their relationship, only business. All in all, RUINED was a great read. I'm here for whatever the author serves next.
Saw this advertised and I thought I would give it a go. I didn't read the blurb as I wanted to go into it with an open mind. The story centres around Virginia who is struggling financially and offers herself up for sale so she can put herself and her brother through college. Virginia is an intelligent character and hates being referred to as a redneck. However Virginia's character is inconsistent because she acts like a silly moron at times. She gets mixed up with her boss who is into harder bdsm from that described in the fifty shades books. These are referenced throughout. I thought the story was ok but why is it meant to be sexy to beat a woman as described in this book. Not only does the character who is a virgin get into this immediately but she's ok with being used and abused by her boss. It ends abruptly then goes into a couple of chapters of the next book which is more of the same. I didn't like this, the characters were dull and nothing that you haven't seen before. Very disappointing and frustrating because the foundations are there for a captivating romance that could have been built upon.
Enjoyed the book. It contains light BDSM action between Tony and Virginia, who has sold him her virginity for $20,000. She has her reasons that include helping her adoptive family. The interaction between Tony and Virginia is hot and sexy and there is an attraction that neither expected. The book is well written and entertaining. I would recommend it as a great read.
I felt this book was a little flat. Virginia was just too naive and annoying as heck. I usually enjoy this author's books. But not this time around. I didn't care for the cliffhanger ending either. I voluntarily read this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Virginia had come to California to go to Berkley and to find her mother and see if she wanted a relationship with her. Virginia's mother had given her up as a baby and she was adopted by this black family the mother Lila was a social worker. Virginia's father had died so it was just her mother and her adopted brother Andre. She had a job in a hotel cleaning rooms to make money to live and to send home so that her brother can go to basketball camp because she felt he was good and she loved him and her adopted mother and wanted to help. She meets Tony Lee one day when she is trying to go to the Muni station to go home and runs into him and he gives her a ride and then gives her his umbrella to use because it was raining. She is going to work and she hears some of the maids talking about how she can earn money by selling her virginity and so she happens to see the card on the floor and decides she will find out what it is all about. She goes to this place called the Pullman agency and she is put through these tests and interviews the tests were to find out if she is a true virgin or not. Suffice it to say she is called and told that she has an interview tomorrow and the agent was going to take all the girls up at the same time. She is told this a talent agency so she had to sign a NDA and that if she got picked she had to stay for a week. Of course as the story goes she gets picked but the reason she gets picked is because Tony Lee the Chinese billionaire is there and he picks her. They spend time together and they realize they like each other. He likes her mother and he lets on and he has a certain kink for sex and he didn't want to ruin her but because she insisted that he had to take her virginity otherwise she wouldn't take his money they go through this week together and she gets to meet his brother Benjamin from the other Em Brown series before this. It was pretty good and I was disappointed as I thought I might be.
Yes, it ends abruptly, but look out for what comes before!
First, I hope, and pray, and will even beg the author if she'll write Book 6 and get Tony Lee and Benjamin Lee together with their respective loves, Kimani and Virginia. Holy Lord, this book was hot, that one would be scorching.
I was, like everyone else, disappointed in the abrupt ending, but I don't judge a book by the ending, I judge it by its content, which is what all good readers should do. And in my case, I LOVED the content here. True BDSM, not the Christian Gray crap that everyone thinks is such a turn on. BDSM is a place where safe words are guarded like gold, and used sparingly, like mercury. Em Brown understands this and write it accordingly. Although I'm absolutely NOT a fan of Billionaire and Virgin tropes, this one was written well and was thoroughly enjoyable, although Virginia at the beginning, was a bit immature. She got over it quickly.
Overall, if you are a fan of either the author or BDSM, this is a book I would recommend. I read the entire series (Books 1 through 5) over the last day. Yes, they are novellas. First four are connected and ends in a Happy For Now, rather than an HEA, which is why I'm hoping Book 6 will pull it all together
4.25 stars This is the fifth book in the series and it can be read as a standalone. It is not my favorite and very similar to the other books. It is challenging being a young woman working, studying and trying to make ends meet so when she overhears a conversation about making a lot of money, Virginia is all ears. As the reality of the situation begins to settle in, she becomes somewhat uneasy and is flummoxed when she realizes with whom she is being asked to spend the week….none other than her boss Tony Lee. This is one storyline filled with steamy scenes and intense attraction between the characters. I volunteered to read an advance copy and all opinions are my own.
If you fancy a modern day Hot fairy tale then this could be right up your alley! Hotel maid needs money to help herself and her family back home, so after stumbling across a conversation and a business card she's got some serious thinking to do.
Is her virginity really worth £20,000???
Hot n steamy fairy tale. Only rated 4 stars tho because immediately after finishing ruined another book started his for a week. Same story lines but then turned a page to find download to read more. . . . . . .
If it said in the first place it was only gonna be first chapter \chapters i wouldn't of bothered starting to read it!!!!
Virginia is trying to pay for college and support her family. When she decides to auction off her virginity she meets Tony Lee, billionaire and ultimate dom. After claiming her he has second thoughts because he will ruin her innocence. Virginia is determined to win Tony over, not just only for a week but for a lifetime. "Ruined" is book 5 in the "His for a Week" Series and introduces Tony Lee, Benjamin Lee's brother. This book is steamy from front to back. EM Brown really has turned me into an addict to her books. The women in her books are strong and the men are hot as hell. Addicting!
This was not what I expected. Not bad but not good. This was my 1st book by this author and probably my last. I’m fully into alpha males and he wasn’t controlling or commanding enough for me. There wasn’t enough of anything before the story ended I’m left with so many unanswered questions. I hated to many things about this story: No time to build trust between the H/h, “safety word” instead of ‘Safe Word’ annoyed me, and all the ‘All mighty Gods’ made me hate it a little bit more. I just didtlike it.
A young woman finds that she wants more out of her life and for her family. She happens to overhear a conversation and finds a card. She meets the one of the family members that owns the Hotel she is working in she finds that she is attracted to him even though he seems to not be interested in her. Somewhat of an interesting twist to a love story. Short story, interesting characters.. I was given an Arc from the author without obligation. I am providing a honest review.
Virginia, is a poor foster kid who has a wonderful foster mother, who wants to help her foster brother get into college and pay her U.C. Berekley tuition so she sales her virginity. The guy who purchases her owns the hotel she works for and he happens to be into hardcore BDSM. The rest of the story has been written a million times. She likes it and they fall in love. The End. Nothing Special about storyline. The writing was ok.

This was a good read. But it was missing intensity from the male characters perspective. The story was told from her POV only. I have read books where I’m really feeling the emotions of characters and I didn’t feel anything from Tony. It was hard to believe that he even wanted her in the end. This was a really good hook up. They had a great once or ten off and that was it to me.
So.....that's the end? It ended so abruptly and I don't mean that in a "omg i loved it so much I don't want it to end" kind of way. I mean I literally thought there was another book to this one.
Either way, besides that, I didn't love this. I don't take away stars for my personal preference. I did not connect with the characters and I didn't feel like Virginia was as invested as Tony was. She was so wishy-washy and I found it very annoying.
I admit, hardcore BDSM isn’t my thing, but this was bad. It was troubling to see a naive girl think she was falling in love with a man who was abusing her. Sexual battery is not sexy. The sex acts involved dental floss and an electric toothbrush (I don’t know if I’ll ever recover from that scene) and a black hood and being put in stocks. He never apologized or showed any compassion. It was really icky. I wanted to scream “Run, girl!!!! Run!!!!”
I don't know how this author does it but once again I got the book and could not put it down. As always a well written story with all the BDSM you could want I will never see an electric toothbrush ad in quite the same way ever. The whole series so far has been fantastic can't wait to read more.
It started off like most romance books. Boy sees girl, boy interacts with girl etc. However I was a bit confused at how it ended. It was very abrupt only to find the start of Ben's story. Don't get me wrong, the sex was great, storyline was ok but it needs an end. Maybe it's just me. What do you think?????
I enjoyed the story of Tony and Virginia. It was sexy and sweet. You can tell Tony was developing feelings for Virginia but wouldn’t act on them at all. He didn’t think he was a good man but he was. The thing is it just stop. I wanted more but it stop and went to another story.
I really enjoyed this story. I love Tony. Virginia was pushy, but I liked that she went after what she wanted and didn't give up. Some of the story was redundant in areas. I've read Bought, and this book wasn't written as well. It seemed rushed and it just ended. Very abruptly. I am hoping that means there will be more. If so, I truly look forward to it.
Em Brown has done it again, this time adding some very transparent opinions about people like the President’s family. Not that I disagree. I’m still confused on how Devastated fits in this series as it’s not in the same setting or within the same family of characters, but Ruined is fantastic and had me eagerly waiting for more.
I was really enjoying this book, until I discovered it has no ending. I understand that it is continued in the next book, but to me this isn't even a book that leaves you with a cliffhanger. This is literally a book that is just missing 3 chapters at least to appropriately end it. What started off as a 4 star read for me, quickly went to a 2 star because of the bad ending.
