Being summoned to attend a mandatory Flyers Education course – aka Broomstick Riding 101 - is bad enough. Immediately being entangled in a web of witchy drama from the moment I arrive? Well, that’s just my luck. Word has it a young woman has mysteriously fallen from the dormitory roof. The burning question is: was it an accident or murder? I can’t help myself from digging into the events leading up to her demise in a quest to uncover the truth. With everyone pointing fingers in different directions, it’s impossible to know who to trust. Especially when threatening notes from an anonymous source begin to appear with warnings to back off. Can I uncover the identity of the murderer lurking on campus before they claim another victim?

Everything I could possible want in a paranormal cozy mystery
I continue to love this series. Such fun! I’ve always wanted to learn how to fly, lol. I enjoyed this story so much! I love the characters. Granny is my favorite. But I love Maui too. And Dru, of course. A light-hearted tone, well-written, and a good mystery. What more could I have possibly asked for?
I’m a huge cozy mystery fan, there’s something so fun and entertaining about them, they are great. I loved this book and I love this series. Drug goes back to witch school to learn to fly and while there, she ends up solving a murder. It’s was a great read.
The good old school days - perhaps if someone wasn't a killer!
A good read and I'm sure that like me if you already read several books on the same theme. I must admit that i enjoyed it until the ending which for me felt a bit flat. The plot was well thought out but ....... The characters also seemed to be a bit subdued. Come on Granny should have been raising hell and Maui seemed less inclined for the snarky put downs. She has to get her drivers Ed for a broomstick. The place an Academy and the duration a week. Certainly not expecting to be held to the same rules as the students nor to hear whispers about a young girl who died. The general consensus is an accident but her dorm roomies think it was murder (she has taken over the dead girl's room). Choosing a broomstick (even if it's really the other way round), learning to fly, getting threatening notes, seeing the ghost of the dead girl, seeing the ghost of her great grandmother and more are mixed into an okay read. (Not really sure what was missing as it answered all questions but it just seemed to lack the oomph I expected. )
Who could have known that Dru would be sent back to school at her age and for broom riding how embarrassing. Just drew her snarky cat Maui her guardian whom she is dating Harper her dead Granny her sorta dead mother whos spirit is trapped in a raven did i miss anyone oh yah she gets to meet another family member whom is also 6 feet under or were ever deceased witches go when the expire could it get any more uncomfortable i mean she's just found out her room was vacated not because she flunked a test but because she feel from the roof or did she. Well her ghost has some opinions on that the other students think she was murdered and the dean wants it to just go away. Will Dru manage to solve the case keep from dying herself and master brooming 101.
I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book but I have also purchased a copy.
I love this series! The characters are wonderful and the stories just flow effortlessly from a reader’s point of view. It’s a great compliment to Misty for I’m sure it took plenty of rewrites and editing to have her books ready for the public to read and enjoy. Each book is better than the previous one and they have all been great!
I would encourage all who see this to please check out her series. I feel like the characters are old friends and that I was there when the stories take place. See if you don’t feel the same way.
Kudos Misty for another wonderful book. I always eagerly await your next book and I have never been disappointed with any of them!
This story was better than the third book, but not nearly as good as the first two books and the short stories. The writing itself while also better than the previous books, had a lot more grammatical errors and typos than previous books. The most disappointing thing is the development of the two main characters, or the lack thereof. It seems like Harper and Dru's personalities are stuck at the level of development they had reached at the end of book 2. We did learn more about Granny in this book, which I really enjoyed. It's just seems a shame that some of the supporting characters (Granny and Maui) are more fun to read t h an the main character.
I loved this story! Dru had to go back to school for broom riding classes. It was a tiny bit like Harry Potter except they were all female witches and were older students. Dru did really great with everyone since she was older than most students but younger than the teachers. We got to experience more ghosts and even met Dru's great Grandma. Wolf was his charming self as well as a squirrel, a fly and a bird. Death and deceit is in full swing. Dru is just so glad that she only has school for 1 week. I really liked the school setting. Very creative on the authors part and a fun read. Kathy
This installment has Dru back in school learning to fly a broom. Harper comes along and gets to use his shifting in amusing ways! We learn more about Dru's family with the addition of another ghost member. Oh, and Dru had to solve another murder, or was it suicide like several people claim? I just love all the characters!! Lies coming from all directions make for a hard time trying to figure out what really happened and who is related to who.
Great series with a great cast of characters. Cozy mystery/urban fantasy series where young private investigator inherits her grandmothers bookstore/curio shop in a small coastal Washington town. She leaves Las Vegas and her father after breaking up with her boyfriend to try something new. She soon finds out she is a witch and living with her is the ghost of her grandmother. Follow along as her and her new friends solve mysteries and murders and try and stay out of trouble.
Yet another fun paranormal story in the Blackwood Bay series. Dru has to go to flying school but something feels off. Rooming withe 3 teen girls, she learns the former occupant of the room died. The headmistress says it was an accident while the roomies accuse each other. Granny drops the bombshell that her mother still haunts the school where she was headmistress & they really don’t get along. So will Dru find out the truth about the dead girl? Can she reconcile her granny & great grandmother? Most importantly, can she learn to fly a broomstick?
Misty Bane has another hit on her hands! This series is amazing and this book a great part of it. Dru goes to school for flying lessons and ends up having a murder mystery as well. Meeting her Great Grandmother in this book gives a lot of insight to the past family dynamic.
I love Misty Bane’s writing. The characters are wonderful, Granny and Maui are so much fun, and Dru is a strong female lead.
Another great book from Misty Bane! I really enjoyed this book and series. It grabs your attention from the very first paragraph and keeps it until the end. It is about witch's that the main character didn't know she was one and the time she has figuring out what that entails while solving murders at the same time. Also her guardian is her good looking cop boyfriend. I highly recommend this book and series to everyone. Enjoy!
It’s back to school for Dru as she has to get some broomstick flying lessons. She’s surprised to find that there was a death at the academy for witches, but not so surprised to find it was a suspicious one! With her guardian, ghost, and familiar with her, she knows it’s up to her to investigate! A good mystery, with a rather unusual twist I didn’t see coming. For fans of cozy mysteries on the paranormal side.
Dru gets sent to the Academy for a week to take the Broom flying course and finds there are few surprises waiting for her there. It is another fast paced, thought provoking and can't put the book down to you find out all the answers. I enjoyed the book but it was very different from the others in the series so far. Enjoy it for yourself as it is available now.
Harper has to go the extra mile to protect his witch when she gets sent to flying school Not only does she have to abide by school rules but there is a bit of a niggle about the fact that some one died. Good storyline. I received an Advance Reader copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review
How do you solve a murder when everyone is lying? Can ghosts do more than go bump in the night? Dry has received an invitation to go to the Crocus Academy for Witches, to learn how to fly a magical broom. A student has died, fallen to her death, or has she? Read and enjoy.
This latest book in the series was great. Dru had to attend a boarding school for a week to learn to fly on a broomstick. One week. It seemed simple enough. Of course it wasn't. Apparently a death had occurred at the school before Dru had arrived and been classified as an accident. It turns out it wasn't an accident and Dru was right in the middle trying to solve the mystery - as usual.
I enjoyed this witchy cozy mystery. This time Dru has to leave town for a week of broom flying lessons. The writing is fresh and skillful. The plot is tight and multi-layered with no cliff-hangers. I’m looking forward to future installments. I received this book free and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.
I love this series!! It is so cleverly written revealing each new witchy ability with the underlying strong friendships with a family caring. I love the cat and that they can talk to humans. I am sad I’ve read the last one in this series! I fell in love with the characters!
Having already enjoyed the previous two books in the series I suspected I would also like this one. I wasn't disappointed. A good story with well written characters and a twisting plotline. I love the humourous interactions between characters and their relationship development. Looking forward to the next episode.
Dru, Harper, Granny, and Maui take on Portland, and the Crocus Academy will never be the same! Mean girl cliques, ghosts, a tragic accident, a cute squirrel...nothing is as it seems! This is a good cozy read with fun twists and a surprising killer. Like Dru, I can't wait to get back to Blackwood Bay!
Being sent back to high school when you are already grown and established has to be everybody's worst nightmare. Finding out you are to be treated. just like one of the teenage students increases your apprehension. The book is enjoyable and has lots of twists and turns.
Dru has to go to Crocus Academy to take a class, Flying Education. It is really Broomstick Flying 101! She is 29 and her classmates are18, between high school and college. It is full of antics, murder solving, selecting her broomstick, and meeting her great- grandmother! This is funny, full of twists, and very unexpected conclusion! Enjoy!
Fun Cozy Witch Tale. Dru goes back to Witches school to learn how to fly. When she gets their her finds she has a spot there only because another girl had mysteriously died. She sets off to find out what happened and and gets into trouble along the way. Love this series!!
I love these witchy characters, and their paranormal cohorts. These book are a wholesome look into the intriguing life of Dru, a witch extraordinaire. If you like endearing paranormal characters and entertaining mysteries, this is the series for you. Enjoy!
This book is a fabulous read about a murder that takes place at a school for witches. Each book in the series including this one is a self-contained story that’s well written and very entertaining to read. I highly recommend this book to read.
Loved this book! The academy is a welcome addition and brings so much depth to this world and the main characters in it. As usual, the author has created characters with depth and appeal and I was fully engaged with each of them. I cannot recommend this strongly enough!
Interesting and fun story. Definitely worth reading this series. The characters are interesting different from other wit h storylines. I plan on continuing the series.
I enjoy this series. Having a guardian to protect the heirs of the most powerful witch lines is a bit different. Dru goes to school to learn to fly on a broom; she meets her great grandmother and she solves a murder. What more could the reader ask?
