Easton Miller - Marine, Human and genetically modified King of the Viatoribusan
Easton Miller enlisted in the Marines with the promise of employment following his service. Earth is one huge city holding twenty billion people and a massive unemployment problem. Taking a chance he joins a Marine Expeditionary force to the planet Nefertem, a jungle world with plenty of room for colonists, once the troubling natives were removed. Miller is injured, captured and treated for damage to his hand. The treatment genetically modifies Easton to one of the ancient Viatoribusan, the race responsible for the jump gates allowing for faster than light travel across the galaxy. Miller, the King of Nefertem, at the encouragement of his native advisor, Thoth, awakens Sekhmet, ancient Viatoribusan general, and her three hundred personal guards. The war is on! Miller is caught in the middle, but with the assistance of Lisa Donaldson, Earth's representative to Nefertem and its new king, they'll attempt to bring peace to the planet and its inhabitants with room for all. The great storyline continues with the amazing characters bringing color to the tale. An excellent storyteller, Anthony White breathes life into his characters and guides them through the intricacies of this excellent series! I would love to see this series continued! It's a great read!
I feel there could be so much more to this story. I’d be happy with it continuing. What earth has become in the future is probably close to what the reality will be in 100+ years. What the humans are .... greedy assholes who would willing destroy another planet for their own needs is also pretty accurate. Loved the human/alien (hybrid) element to the story. Being torn between your two parts. White never fails to deliver a great story. Matthew Crow did a great job narrating.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review
I read the first book and had to read the sequel right away. Despite my slow reading, I thoroughly enjoyed this read. I feel bad that it took me this long to read any of A.L.'s books. I'm glad I did. Well done!
