My husband and I are fans of Dave Ramsey, so it was refreshing hearing another perspective on what the Bible has to say about finances. Pastor Robert talks more about stewardship than about money. God cares more about our heart than our bank account. The two biggest differences between Dave Ramsey and Pastor Robert's book are: Pastor Robert is vocal about God's prompting him to give, save, and even spend. While I know Dave is a Christian, he talks more about the practical aspect of money, which also has its place, but as a Christian it is a great reminder to also listen to God's voice (of course, make sure it's God!). The other thing is that Pastor Robert is okay with debt. He explains it so well! He gave me a lot to consider about my finances. I recommend this book to EVERYONE with more than a dollar to his or her name.

This was a new author to me and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The main message was about financial freedom so that you can live generously and within your means. Morris gives great real life examples of people who were tremendously in debt and how they managed to become entirely debt-free! Of course Morris explains the importance of a budget and living within your means, but also takes it a step further and tries to explain the reasonings and truth about our spending behaviors and to fix the root of the too-much-spending problem. This book was very applicable to my life, stressing the importance of tithing and praying and letting God lead where your money is concerned. Morris shares his own personal history of how he himself got out of a financial pickle and how he deals with millions of dollars associated with his mega-church. After reading this book, I pray that I can be a wise steward with the gifts God has given me. I have every intention of cutting up my credit cards after I am done paying them off. And I want to start an action plan of living within my means and blessing generously as I live a life Beyond Blessed!

Several years ago my husband and I went through Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University. We worked on our budget and paid off a lot of debt and it felt good. Then we made several moves for my husband's job and things got a little crazy. We didn't take on more debt again, but we did slack off on budgeting with repairs on our new house and other needs that we had neglected during that time. Then this past year, we just realized we were just staying sloppy in our budgeting and giving. It is time to get back on track. Beyond Blessed by Robert Morris came to me at just the time I needed it. This past week, I have been reading this book with my husband and discussing how we can get ourselves back on track again. I feel hopeful already!

Morris, who is the founding Senior Pastor of Gateway Church in Texas, originally wrote a book called The Blessed Life, which I read several years ago not long after it came out. I read it about the same time we started the Financial Peace University class with Dave Ramsey books. Dave Ramsey writes the forward to Beyond Blessed. I especially love that this book is like a gathering of two of my favorite financial advisors in one place. It has been encouraging--and gently convicting. Beyond Blessed goes beyond budgeting and financial provision information to give a lot of encouraging stories and information on how we are actually God's stewards of all that He entrusts us with--our finances, our household and our children. Beyond Blessed was such a good reminder to me to take care of those things God has blessed us with, to budget better again so we can better take care of ourselves and, more importantly, so we can bless those God has put in our path to bless. Morris shares many wonderful stories of giving and blessing others and how much joy it has brought him and many others. We have had some opportunity to do that on occasion, and we want to do more of it, so that alone is a great motivator to do better with what God has give us.

Honestly, I would encourage everyone who wants to follow God and to use the resources He gives you the best way you possibly can to further His kingdom to read Beyond Blessed. This book is easy to read and follow. Morris gives a lot of personal examples. He shares some parts in a lighthearted manner which makes the hard things more bearable, and throughout all of the book he shares in a spirit of love and encouragement. He shares convicting truths from God's word, but he encourages you to get beyond the mistakes and hard stuff and get to the better part of living for God the way that you know God wants you to. As I mentioned, add to that some budgeting helps and advice from Dave Ramsey, and I highly recommend Beyond Blessed.

Robert Morris provides great advice and sage wisdom on the matter of Kingdom finances. Not simply a book about getting rich or out of debt, Beyond Blessed really seems to steer readers toward path of living as stewards of God's resources a d for His kingdom. It is practical, helpful, and deeply encouraging.

This book has really helped set my wife and I on the path to financial freedom.

Love this book! I can relate so well to this book, I am a giver, whatever God tells me to give, I give, alms, sow seeds, etc.. (Luke 6:38). It's always a blessing to be a blessing and to freely give from the heart, God loves a cheerful giver. This books gives so much insight on the power of giving relating to financial favor and blessings.

This book was like no other financial book I've read. I'm not in debt but it made me more aware of building for the kingdom then building wealth for the world. Put everything in perspective on being more giving and generous with what God has blessed me with!

Morris wrote a book over a decade ago on generous living called The Blessed Life. He realized from comments he received from readers that many did not understand the underlying concept of living generously, that one must live within one's means. Hence this book on financial principles.

Morris reminds us we are stewards and not owners of what God has provided for us. He really helps us understand that mindset. I was surprised that the stewardship is not only of external things like money and possessions, but also internal things, like our mind, soul, and body. He also reminds us that our stewardship of our possessions (keeping our car looking nice, our lawn mowed) testifies to others, showing how we care for what God has put in our care.

Other aspects of this book I really appreciated include his teaching on the trap of immediate gratification. He has an excellent section on the buy now pay later philosophy and what contentment really is. He also has good lessons on a poverty mentality as well as the mindset of materialism and how they are deceptive.

Morris does not provide detailed instructions on actions, such as making a budget. He notes that there are many online resources to create a budget. His purpose here is to inspire people to get started living within their means and commit to a disciplined lifestyle.

I recommend this book to Christians who want to understand the principles behind good stewardship of finances that leads to the blessed life of living generously. Gratitude is an important one, for example. Even though Morris does write about finances, this book concentrates on the biblical principles behind our wise stewardship of what God has put in our care.

I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

Beyond blessed is a good book that builds on The Blessed Life. Bob Morris uses scripture to stress the importance putting God first, creating a budget and giving. I thought this book was more practical than The Blessed Life. He provides good ideas about setting up a budget and obeying God. Nevertheless, Pastor Morris is a bit rigid. He uses absolutes and "all or nothing" thinking in Beyond Blessed. I like that he quoted Stephen Covey's concept of "First Things First" in this book. Covey wants us to prioritize the most important things in our life each day. Morris says that we need to remember car repairs, home repairs and medical bills because they vary from month to month. Having an emergency fund is key. Extreme giving and stewardship will always bring happiness and joy according to Bob Morris. I think there is a middle ground and it is good to avoid extremes. Bob Morris does take things to an extreme here and there. He believes that people should give beyond the tithe (10%) and make a large offering to their local church. This will make you Beyond Blessed said Pastor Morris. Bob stresses the importance of gratitude as well. Overall, I think he is a good man who helps many people with his ministry. I recommend this book to anyone seeking spiritual and financial advice. I think we would live in a better world if more people gave to other people. Having a hard heart is not good. We should put God first in our lives. God likes a cheerful giver. "Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." 2 Corinthians 9:7.

Okay, I’ll admit: I’d seen this book lying around my house for maybe a month or two, and I never got around to reading it (mainly due to the cheesy title and cover image), but I eventually picked it up and started reading—simply out of curiosity and boredom. What I discovered was quite possibly one of the best books I’ve read in terms of faith and finances (and yes, I’ve read many of Dave Ramsey’s works).

What this book provided me with wasn’t simply stale information about money, as many finance books do, but this book offered something much better: a mindset shift. See, as a believer, I’ve always had a weird attitude when it comes to money. Should I see it as a necessary evil and/or something to give away at all costs? Is it okay to want nice things? What about providing for my (future) family? How much should I rely on God, and how much should I rely on money?

What this book showed me is that God doesn’t want me to hate money or use it begrudgingly—as a matter of fact, that can be a matter of concealed religious pride if you’re not careful with that mindset—no, God wants me to be a faithful steward of all He gives to me, and if I do so, He will provide me with more. That means not seeing money as good nor evil, but as neutral. It can be used as a tool for great good, but means stewarding it wisely and realizing that God is the one that owns it, not I.

This book is liberating and inspiring, as well as informative. Highly recommend. I’ll also be picking up “The Blessed Life” from Robert Morris, as well!

Beyond Blessed: God's Perfect Plan to Overcome All Financial Stress by Robert Morris is a powerful finance book that can both educate and assist readers in making positive and long-lasting changes in the way they manage their resources.

This is a book that does a great job of removing the guesswork and the stress from financial management, if readers are willing to make the necessary changes and investments. There is no doubt that this book will be very helpful to those beginning their journey into proper financial management, but it also shares valuable principles that can aid those who have been on their journey for some time.

The best and most impactful thing about this book to me is its emphasis on proper stewardship. Stewardship is a concept that many people are unaware of or do not truly understand. Robert does a fantastic job of explaining what stewardship is from a biblical perspective, why it is important and what is required of us if we desire to be good stewards of the resources we have been entrusted with.

There is a lot to glean and apply from this book. If readers are ready to develop into proper stewards and manage their resources in a way that is honoring to the Most High and will produce benefits in their lives, this is a book they should definitely read.

I received this book free from the publisher through their book review bloggers program and I was not required to write a positive review.

I listened to the audiobook version. Great teaching and practical lessons! Teaches about stewardship, not just with our resources especially finances, but stewarding our own hearts and mindset about them. This book has marked me with the reminder that I am not the owner, God is. Keeping that in heart and mind. Contentment is not tied to your external circumstances, it's a condition of your heart. Its a book about stewardship that has made me realize how blessed I am, that's why God wants to produce in me a good steward. Best parts of the practical sides mentioned and discussed in the book are the topics about debt, budgeting, and even giving! A memorable take away would be this:
1. Spend wisely
2. Save diligently
3. Give generously
I have also experienced faith-building memories financially and testimonies in the span of time i was listening to this book. Would love to read this again too, continue to live out the practical advices, and share the lessons with fellow brothers and sisters. This has been a blessing!

Sometime you read a book because it's on your list and sometimes you read a book that fits perfectly into the context of your life at the time you read it. My reading of Beyond Blessed falls into the latter category. Several years ago the "Blessed Life" was instrumental in influencing my generosity and improving my life. Beyond Blessed was released at a time when I am intensely wanting to know Him more and have greater participation and contribution in my relationship with the Lord Jesus.

Robert Morris' presentation of the principles regarding stewardship from the motivation for it, to it's broad implementation in our lives, to it's impact on our lives and our progeny. Objective and balanced in his approach, Robert Morris firmly establishes Biblical stewardship as the foundation for a life of financial and spiritual sufficiency. Read "The Blessed Life" and "Beyond Blessed" in order and with an open mind an heart to what God wants you to do.

Robert Morris writes Beyond Blessed as a follow-up to his previous book The Blessed Life. I have not had the pleasure of reading The Blessed Life however, I believe that if you read this book first, you will come away with an informative reading experience. In Beyond Blessed, Robert Morris speaks about being a good steward with what God has given us, because after all he owns it all. Pastor Morris writes about the roots of our debts being our need to acquire material things. Pastor Morris goes on to speak about the practicality of credit cards and having a budget. Pastor Morris states that being good stewards of what God has given to us allow us to ultimately bless others.

I recommend this book because Pastor Morris writes practically about having a financially responsible life in a way that is very helpful and insightful.
Happy Reading!

I agree with the author that this book probably should have been written first before his best seller "The Blessed Life". This book lays the foundation for being a good steward of what God has given you in order that you can then be blessed by giving generously. Certainly, some very practical and Biblical advice is given including giving first your tithe, living within your means and being content with what you have instead of going down the path of envy and pride. I am reading his book and thinking about so many family members and friends that could benefit from these words. But then I look deep inside my own life and wonder if indeed I have much to improve upon in my thinking and execution in the area of stewardship with my finances, time and talents.

A prequel to his first book "The Blessed Life", Pastor Robert Morris talks about the principles, the values, and the ideas - in essence the whole background and key to being able to live that blessed life to begin with - namely, biblical stewardship and what that looks like. No matter where you are right now in life all of us can learn to be better stewards of everything that God has entrusted us with - and I don't mean just our finances. I believe that this insightful, encouraging, challenging and yet inspiring book can help you learn what it looks like to become a better steward of God.

A truly outstanding, encouraging, faith-filled and foundational book on managing your finances from a biblical perspective. Robert Morris does a great job of matching the “What” with the “Why” and includes a ton of inspiring stories to encourage you on your journey. I couldn’t recommend both this book and his first book, The Blessed Life more highly. If you haven’t read either, start here. It lays an excellent foundation for your wise and prosperous financial future.

This is an essential companion to Roberts first book, The Blessed Life. Together they are some of the best books about finances from a Christian perspective that I’ve ever read. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for wisdom in this area of their lives.

Favorite Quote: “It is the one who is faithful with a little who is ultimately entrusted with more. This is just as true of people as it is of money and possessions.”

If you want a book to explain why you should be financially responsible, tithe and plan for the future then this book is a good choice. He came across a little pompous for me at times. Sometimes his examples were discouraging if we aren’t stewards like that. I think this book is good for a seeker wanting to explore what the Bible says about money

A great book! A friend at church brought two and gave one to me. It reminds me that everything belongs to God and he trust us to take care of it. Important take away was having specific saving goals for items, not general saving and important of an emergency fund and a giving fund. Concept of giving gives greatest joy.
