The original Peacemaker is one of the jet pack heroes, which explains his goofy helmet. He’s in the tradition of classics like Commando Cody, Adam Strange, Buck Rogers, and the Rocketeer. He’s a lesser addition to those ranks, admittedly. The art isn’t anything too impressive and Christopher Smith is a fairly standard “hero man” archetype.

That said, what makes this series kind of interesting is the general setup for the character. He works for the UN and is kind of responsible for ensuring peace talks. He’s described as a pacifist, but one who values peace so highly he’s willing to fight for it! That they could write this without seeing the obvious contradiction is amazing. As a character, he even has a layer jam packed with super weapons of death that he made himself. Mostly he zips around with his jet pack and blasts people with his pistol, which they claim is non lethal. It doesn’t stop him from blowing his enemies off the map. He utterly obliterates most of them and bombs their bases to kingdom come, with all their men still inside. Peacemaker indeed.
