Summer Bucket List

Rate this book
Recently graduated from high school, Holland Monroe had no expectations for her last summer before heading off to college to be anything but ordinary.

Until she got a job as a waitress at the local country club to make extra money for school.

Milo Davis was smart, cute, and absolutely not interested in Holland. At least that was what she believed. But the day she started working at the restaurant, everything changed.

Finally together, they were left with only three months to spend time together before she moved away.

Good thing they decided to make their time as memorable as possible.

But will they remain friends? Or will checking off items on their summer bucket list lead them to something they didn’t expect — Falling in love.

TK has called Texas home, even when she was living elsewhere with her Navy husband.

As a work-from-home/stay-at-home mom, she found joy in photography, which led the way to pursuing her dream of writing just one book. Her first novel, Being There, was self-published in 2013.

When. she's not writing, she can be found doing home renovations with her dad, or doing the empty nest thing. She and her husband enjoy spending time on the water, visiting their daughters at college, or just being with friends and family.

***Actual Rating: 3/5 Just-Fine Stars***

I picked Summer Bucket List up mainly because the synopsis sounds pretty summer-ish and I'm all about summer vibe now. After a few chapters in, I am still intrigued by this broody guy named Milo and the fact that Holland tries to bicker with him tantalizes me a lot. I am truly captivated by Milo's overall personality and how he seems so oblivious yet is fully aware of what's happening around me. His dark side really reels me deeply in the seemingly intriguing story.

However, to my disappointment, my dislike for the female main character, Holland, has unfortunately ruined all the fun and spunkiness of this book. She's this super nice girl-next-door who wants to please everybody and feels bad if someone hated her. Her entire role irks me so much that I start to doubt the feeling of my former pendant for this story. I mean, I totally get it that Holland is a popular girl who used to date the most notorious jerk some high school sport star (sorry for not being able to specify the exact sport, but I think it's football?) so when he breaks up with her, she still has this off-limit boundary surrounding her that prevents other guys to actually get close to her.

What I don't appreciate is the fact that she's attracted to Milo from the beginning, and even though Milo looks like he couldn't care less about being nice to her, he pretty much admits he LIKES her all these years throughout their high school period. Color me shock, of all the possible reactions Milo could have and all the things he could possibly say, that 's what he chooses to express!?!?!?!!!!!?????

Nope, just nope, the rest of the story is history and a complete cliché, which lacks the intensity and in-depth character/plot development I always value in a story. Thus, for all the reasons above, Summer Bucket List gets a solid 3 out of 5 stars from me. Of course, just because this book isn't for me, doesn't mean it won't be your cup of tea. I'll still recommend this to anyone who likes a quick, fun, cute read in a summer day!

This was a fun, cute YA summer read full of innocence and dreams.

Everything about this one screams SUMMER! It’s full of possibilities when the main characters decide to run through a bucket list before heading off to college in the fall.

There is innocent romance that forms from it, so if you love reading more of the high-school-like romances, you may enjoy reading this book.

I gave this one 3 out of 5 stars. It was a decently paced read, but it felt more of the clique, YA plot that we’ve read before. But other than that, it’s a great summer adventure.

What a delightful summer treat this book turned out to be. While there's not a lot of surprises per se, the story of Holland and Milo finding each other is sweet and full of young hopefulness.

Holland's character is a pretty typical popular kid in high school. She fits in with most social groups and enjoys being friends with lots of people. Milo is a quieter sarcastic character who keeps to himself. Despite having classes together Holland still feels that Milo has a sense of mystery about him. He never really opens up to her the way most people do, so of course that drives her crazy.

Cue graduation, parties, and then working together. Milo and Holland get to know each other and decide to date knowing that summer would mean the end of things, enter the bucket list idea. Super fun ideas peppered through this coming of age story.

I recommend this book if you're in the mood for a fun, sweet, young adult romance. Summer romances are built up so much in high school, it's rare to find one that will last after.

I just loved it!

Honestly TK Rapp’s writing just makes me happy. The characters, the storyline. It is easy to read and flows well. I just power through her books. I’m always left with wanting more but at the same time I’m satisfied with how the story plays out. I just love this author and am always excited to read her books.

Summer Bucket List was a great read by T.K. Rapp. Holland just graduated high school and expected her last summer before college to be ordinary. She got a job at a country club as a waitress. Everything seemed to change for her and Milo when she started her new job. They started seeing each other and wanted to make their summer memorable. They decided to make a summer bucket list and check items off. I really enjoyed Holland and Milo’s story. I cant wait to read more by T.K. Rapp.

Cute story. Quick read. Not something that I would want to read sequels to if there were any. It was a fun YA read. Not a lot of excitement. But just enough to keep one reading.
