I’ve been taken prisoner by a man I used to love.
He took my innocence ten years ago.
But his touch still sends shivers down my spine.
I’m sick of my vain attempts at trying to escape.
Tired of feeling hopeless in this dingy room that I’m trapped in.
I can tell that he wants to help me but doesn’t want to let me go.
His strong arms make me weak in the knees.
And the pain in his eyes breaks my heart.
His father is the most powerful mafia boss in the country.
And I’m having to pay for my family’s debt to him.
But once he shows me the way out…
I can only hope that he will come with me.
If he doesn’t, then my entire life has been a lie.
And if he does…
Well, then we would have a bloody war on our hands.

This was a pretty good read Roger is the son of a mafia boss and he is a debt collector. When he is given a file and told to collect he is surprised. Jill was his high school girlfriend the only woman he has ever loved and he has to take her as collateral. Ten years later, Jill is held hostage by the mafia family until her father can finish paying for the rest of a million dollar debt. This was a good read with a lot of twist and turns in it. The sex scenes in this book were pretty good. The book also left us with some unanswered questions like will he choose her this time or his family. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Jill and Roger were high school sweethearts ten years ago. When their lives are suddenly thrust back together by unforeseen circumstances, Roger makes a split second decision that seals their fate. Jill become a prisoner in the home of people she once loved as a complicated and emotional tale of family, drama, and lies unfolds. Well written and engaging, the story moves at a steady pace while also building an incredible story and empire. The second chance romance is sexy and steamy - perfect for this reader. I especially loved all the word building and secondary characters who were so well done and added to the excellent plot. 5 enthusiastic stars from me!

I received an ARC and I'm freely reviewing.

This is a new author to me. The premise sounded great, who doesn't love a good mafia story, a past couple overcoming a difficult past. So, we meet Jill and Roger where they were high school sweethearts. They haven't seen each other in years and are thrown together due to their father's issues/mistakes. Both realize they still have the spark but life is in the way and how do they overcome that. At times, the dialogue and story dragged for me but it still hooked me enough so I finished the book. I would like to know how it continues with other family members.

This was a quick read, with a second chance. It was supposed to be dark mafia, but there wasn’t really anything dark about it, not that it was light and fluffy either, in my opinion.
I enjoyed Roger and Jill’s reunion, they’re meant to be, but I didn’t feel a connection with them. I didn’t feel part of the story.
As much as the last couple chapters could be seen as a HEA (you more than likely don’t need to read more in the series if you just want the love story of these two), I felt like there were unresolved issues. There were definitely things that could be seen as a cliffhanger OF THE STORY, even though Roger and Jill get their resolve and “fairytale ending.” I’d definitely consider this as more as a HFN, but feel like the other books in this series are going to need to be read to find the conclusion to other happenings in the book. (I won’t spoil what they are, you’ll have to read for yourself.)
So as much as I enjoyed this romance, I couldn’t give it a full four stars, due to the cliffhanger-like feeling for myself, the detachment I felt from the story and characters, and going in thinking it was going to be dark, but not feeling that it was.

A reasonable read.

This is not too bad a story but as a mafia book it is a bit tame, it is more about the romance between Roger and Jill. These two were High School sweethearts ten years prior which ended when Jill's family abruptly moved across the country and he was expelled from school for violence against another pupil. His father is the leader of the Mafia family and a thoroughly bad guy her dad is a weak willed grocery store owner who unknowingly to his family borrowed money from the Mafia to pay off gambling debts and had to kill a man to get the loan. This house of cards comes tumbling down when Jill is taken until he pays the rest of the debt this allows her and Roger to reconnect and realise they still love each other. Her father admits to his guilt and is jailed and his father disappears nothing known about his whereabouts. Unfortunately the ending still leaves too many unanswered questions maybe there will be more books about this family? It's an okay read if you are only looking for the romance and not too focused on the story.

ONE INTENSE EXPERIENCE!!!
OMG! OMG! Wow! Talk about one mind blowing, jaw dropping, slap yo mama rocking this bombshell to the core. A whirlwind of surprising mishaps and unexpected events that propel those swirling emotions bursting into play. This is one gripping storyline and explosive plot that shakes this baby from the git-go. Black and Phillips nailed this baby 100% on point and it totally brings this little shocker bursting to life beautifully. Throw in all the drama, danger and suspense and you have one intense, electrifying tale that captures your attention from start to finish. The characters are authentic, impressive and so realistic with such depth and personality its easy to relate. The scenes are written with such realism theres no trouble interpreting each scenario as they play off one another perfectly. Amazing job guyd, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.

This was an amazing book. From start to finish, it was filed with action, suspense, emotions, and romance. The characters are amazing and challenged by the events in the story to review their believe systems. The suspense builds as the storyline weaves the twists, turns and surprises that the characters are subjected to. The sex scenes are hot, hot, hot and nicely ingrained into the storytelling in such a way as to enhance the plot rather than take away from it. It is a sexy hot romance and a great first book in the series. I definitely want to read the next book.

She had a relationship with a guy in high school and it ended badly. Her father runs a business and him and his brother go there to collect a debt from him. As his father is the mob boss. He sees her and decides he still wants her so he takes her. He holds her for collateral. Well now what? Does he keep her there or escape with her and risk a whole lot of trouble? I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.

Wow, I loved listen to every word of this book. I love how Roger and Jill just melts into each other like time hasn’t moved foreword. Their story is amazing but I just have so many questions still that wasn’t answered. I’m hoping this continues in the next book. I must say that Jill is tough cookie, and she is very level headed when it comes to the truth. Above all I love Roger for going the distance when it comes to Jill and his family. He is never one abandon his loved ones.

Jill and Roger have a strained past that has spilled into their present. The plot and character development has some holes. Some of the emotions seem forced. Jill has is a strong female character who seems to lose her way once Roger is around. Roger and his brothers seem unsure of their place in the family which makes them weak. Nothing is resolved at the end of the story.

I thought this was an ok book but not without its drawbacks. Roger didn't really fit into my typical mafia guy mold. He was too soft and weak willed for my liking. I liked Jill though for the most part. She has a backbone of steel and was a very strong character except for when Roger was around to lower her I.Q. I'll reserve full judgement until book two. This is my candid, voluntary review.

I haven't read any good mafia stories in so long that I was a bit wary of this book but there was no reason to be. Its good.

I really enjoyed the whole story and found I couldn't put it down. Definitely an author I will be looking for in the future.

Great start to a new series! Jill ends up being collateral, by the man she once loved. Now he is his dad’s muscle in the mafia. Sparks are still there; can Jill convince Roger to leave with her or will he keep her prisoner? Fast-paced read with plenty of drama and emotion. The chemistry is steamy and the story entertaining. I liked it.

Roger is a debt collector for his mafia dad, and he takes Jill as collateral for her father’s debts. These two had a history which did not end well while in high school. This is a good story which is filled with drama, emotion, loyalty, and is a steamy read. I look forward to reading more from this duo of authors’.

Haven’t read anything based in the world of the Mafia, so was interesting. As a reader you are pulled into their lives. One of the main characters, Roger, does not really fit into this life, and his relationships with family and others is developed through this book. The book leads you into the next book with unanswered questions.

A great change from the typical Mafia stories.

This is a fast paced book and was not what I expected from a Mafia story. There is great chemistry between Roger and Jill. This book shows how hard it can be to be overcome obstacles in a relationship. I highly recommend reading this book it is truly great.

DNF at 27%

The story just wasn't believable for me; I couldn't connect with the characters. Roger and his brother were just ridiculous and didn't act at all like they'd grown up in a mafia family. At 27%, it's still the same day the story started, and Roger and Jill are having sex after he took her as a prisoner. Not believable at all.

This was an amazing way to get me hooked on a series and it's only book 1. Once you start you won't be able to put it down. With both the characters to the story line I can't wait to see what happens next.

Sinful Debts

It is a good book. At the beginning, it is a little hard to get into the book but it finally gets interesting. The only thing is that it leaves a lot of questions unanswered and you will have to get the next book to find some of them out.

I loved the story line. Jill and Roger were once high school sweethearts that drifted apart only to be reunited in the mpst unexpected way. Good read but it left me with a lot of unanswered questions.

At chapter 9 and 32% into this book. I don't think it's for me. The storyline was established at the beginning, but I feel like it's being dragged out.

I'll DNF for now, might come back to it in future.
