Orphaned and taken from her home in Winchelsea, she was forced to leave behind the first boy she ever loved. The only boy she ever loved.
Now as an adult, Susan is left with both the physical and mental scars of a life devoid of warmth and kindness - a life, she is determined to change for the better.
Returning to her childhood home, she is determined to put the demons of her past behind her and start a new. With Max by her side, Susan has a real chance of happiness and healing.
But Max has a secret one that risks destroying all hope of a happy ever after.
A story of survival, healing and love, Hidden Scars is an engaging, roller-coaster ride of emotions as Susan and Max reveal the scars of their pasts and their hopes for the future.
(3.5) This one has me befuddled. A first time author for me. The blurb sounded awesome. There is a definite roller coaster ride of emotion. It seemed to bounce around. The past was absolutely horrible for Susan (there could be triggers for some) it was dealt with a light touch to make it readable. When I asked for the arc I did not pay attention the True Love Series # 1. The True Love really does encompass this book, from their childhood and when they meet again. They were just meant to be. I think my issue is Susan demanding honesty from Max and then not telling him about the phone call. ( I don't do spoilers) . Demanding honesty from him with his past and then not sharing her mis steps once they met up again. The book requires your attention and I definitely need to figure out what transpires in the next book. The book ends with cliff hanger. Thank you for the arc. I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions.
I was very kindly offered an ARC of Hidden Scars in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. I have given this book five stars!
I am a new reader to Hazel Robinson but it's safe to say that she has gained a new fan of her work. I wasn't sure what to expect from Hidden Scars but it's such a lovely story of hope and love.
Susan hasn't had the best start in life but manages to find her way back to old childhood sweetheart and that their journey, albeit it a roller coaster of a ride , is so uplifting that it makes you realise that you can over come anything if you want it bad enough.
I loved this book and devoured it in one settings. I would definitely recommend.
I liked the concept and the plot but the story felt a bit off. I really liked it nevertheless but there were some parts that could have been better. It felt like a script and it was hard to feel much for the story. The pain was there but wasn’t at its fullest. It is a great novel but just needs a bit of work.
I wrote this voluntary review in exchange for an ARC copy.
This is engaging, roller-coaster ride of emotions. Susan and Max both have secrets that have made them who the are. This couple had my heart and did not let go. The roller coaster of emotions it takes you on while they reveal their secrets to each other.
I received a copy and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
I loved Max & Susan's book. Good characters. It pulled me right in & wouldn't let me go. Such an emotional roller coaster. I received a free copy of the book. And am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
Beautiful story of Susan and max who were super close as youngsters and then awful circumstances separated them many years later as susan inherits an old family home they are reunited can they overcome the many issues they face and deal with the spectre from the past is love strong enough to overcome and give them their happy ending or will they crumble .......well to find out read the book I loved this story and also loved Susan's best friend and Max's mum who were really.good additional characters
This is the first Hazel Robinson book I've read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Susan's story is an emotional roller coaster of a journey and she has a lot of ups and downs but finding her old friend Max gives Susan some hope.
