Sometimes love gets a bit twisted.

Avery Montgomery doesn’t even know if she wants a soul mate.

As a member of the Hellenicus—a race founded in antiquity and descended directly from the Greek gods—Avery’s attending her first Gathering where she’ll gain the ability to entwine her thoughts with her destined soul mate and be tied to them forever.

But all is not as it seems at the Royal Court. There are severe and strange looks from the elders, whisperings from the ancient Dodona tree, and encounters with spirits who seem to know Avery better than she knows herself.

Throughout these whirlwind events at Court, Avery finds herself torn between her feelings for the wise and protective Vladimir and the passionate, fun-loving Adrian. Unwilling to surrender her independence or to betray her heart, Avery must decide once and for all if she’ll give in to her desires and risk the wrath of the Gods.

Because who are you if your destiny lies with another person?

This is getting 4 stars for the sheer fact that it's exactly what I wanted and needed. A story about descendants from the Greek gods going through a ceremony to find their soulmate and one girls finds herself in the middle of a love triangle and a mystery. Yes please.

Pure Royals - descended from Zeus, Poseidon, or Hades
Royals - descended from any of the major gods on Mount Olympus (Ares, Aphrodite, etc.)
Regulars - descended from the minor gods

This is exactly the kind of crap that I lap up because I LOVE IT.

I'm gonna be honest though - the character work was not great. There weren't layers to any of the characters, the love triangle was predictable, and the best friend didn't really have a role other than that of best friend.

As for the plot, I did enjoy the overall story because it wasn't just about finding one's soulmate. It was about a girl who wanted to give up on soulmates and choose to live her own life without being entwined. There was also a subplot which ended up being the bigger plot of the story (and therefore, much more intriguing) about royal bloodlines being murdered by an organized group of assassins. All fun things!

Is this the best thing I've ever read? No.
Did I enjoy it immensely anyway? Yes.
Will I read the next one? ABSOLUTELY.

Twin Souls and mythology came together and gave rise to this magnificent book.

Entwined was a pleasant surprise. I expected a typical cliché soulmate story but it was none of that.
It's much more than that. The beauty of the book is in the unique world that the author created. The author played a lot with emotions, there were funny and fun moments but also sad and tense moments.

The characters are all well developed and are identifiable characters. Avery is persistent, Vlad is stubborn and Adrian is bold and high-ego just like me.

The ending is incredible, full of twists and revelations that I did not expect.

Entwined is a fun, addictive and must-read for fans of YA romance.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a digital Arc in exchange for a honest review.

One of my favorites!! Loved it!

8/17/20: The book comes out shortly so I wanted to leave a more detailed review
Avery is a descendant of the Greek gods and is hesitant to join the Court to find her soulmate but as her 18th birthday looms she knows it's her birthright. What she isn't prepared for is to fall for two very different men or to be thrust into the dark side of Court. When she learns of buried secrets, it's up to her to decide her fate, or leave it in the hands of her ancestors...
I loved this story- so unbelievably imaginative and creative. I can't wait to dive back into the world of the Court!

Entwined was an amazing book. It has to do with a girl Named Avery Montgomery and her best Friend Kris Ambrosia who with a bunch of other people have this sacred ritual called a Gathering which them comes an Awakening ceremony.

Your heightened senses are supposed to bring you your soul mate and you Click. Among other things happen too. It is a society where they call them selves Hellenicus where they have a relationship that is developed among Greek Gods and Goddess develed into a Caste system of reincarnation. Its really amazing read and I hung on to almost every word.
I hope this is a series in working.

This book was absolutely amazing. I loved it so much and it gave me the feels so many times, I also cried a couple times! I think that if your looking for a romance novel that’s more than just that this is what you need. The Greek mythology added in is what made me want to read it in the first play and I was not let down. Avery is funny and smart and easy to relate to, the boys are super sexy and easy to fall in love with, and Kris is the perfect best friend that you can’t help but love.

This book is absolutely astonishing. The characters are written in away that you feel as though you know them personally. The writing it self is astonishing. The descriptions and details take your emotions make you feel as if you were really there. The story itself and what it’s about is so fascinating and beautiful. If you’re looking for something to keep you on edge a little bit with romance and a bit of history this is definitely for you.

ORIGINAL! COMPELLING! SURPRISES GALORE!

So if you're into Greek mythology, originality, plot twists and a little cute romance, then this is the book for you!

I really enjoyed this story. It takes what you know and makes you see it slightly differently, which i love. I'm always intrigued by people's interpretations of the classics.

It's funny too; the dialogue and modernism thrown in with ancient mythology! I like our main protagonist, she's wonderfully strong willed and fierce and loyal - I'm all for strong women. Her best friend is polite and kind and calm - but equally strong and always has some wise nuggets. You can be strong in many ways!

In amongst the clever plot is just a typical angsty teen and all the drama that comes with high school woven in, just to be aware. But argh, having love triangles where you love both of the choices is too darn tough!! Inevitability, one camp will be heartbroken.

There are a few minor things that could be improved but the author seems to be aware of these, takes on feedback constructively and the rewrite already addresses so much.

So sit back, enjoy the ride, and be prepared for a page turner you can't put down. I know I'm hanging off every word...

This book is witty, sassy and so beautifully written that it keeps you on the edge of your chair. I fell in love with Vlad-the dark and brooding, the sassy Avery and the emotional rollercoaster of a erson in Adrian. Combining Greek mythology and mixing romance into it and you get an innovative master piece. I cant say it enough, it's an excellent read.

Avery never understood the way things happened around her. People being treated differently based on their ranks and the way her own parents treated her for reasons she will never know.

All of the Hellenicus are destined to meet their soul mate and recognise them through a click. The soulmates can read each other’s mind. The whole concept makes Avery sick. She goes to the awakening ceremony only for her best friend Kris Ambrosia and for Carlo, whom she has met once and their friendship through phone has become something more. But she didn’t know life was taking serious turns and things will never be the same before.

Avery is physically attracted to Adrian Ambrosia, Kris’s cousin but her heart ache for Vladimir Ambrosia, Kris’s brother. Her two teenage crushes whom she hasn’t met in years. Her feeling are divided and she don’t want to her decision will hurt their feelings. Three days before she officially gets awakened she is exposed to the biggest secret of her life and now her whole existence is under threat.

I totally loved the story. I have never read anything related to Greek mythology before and this book was so new and refreshing. The writing was not exactly the best but the story and the characters were good enough to cover that. And me being me didn’t know this was a series and now i cant wait to read the second book! The secret in the end was something i kind of hoped/ guessed to happen and maybe it is something so common but still the story was interesting to read! A strong, bold and food loving female lead is just a character anyone can connect to! There is a queen and a princess but there is no mention of a King, now this might be a missing part or maybe i should read the second book to know!

Okay, first of all, WHAT THE FUDGE?!! And I meant that in a good, refreshing way. Also I quoted that from the book. Entwined had simply taken my breath away and I want to thank NetGalley and the publisher for providing me an e-ARC copy in exchange for an honest review!

Let's get down to business, shall we?

Here are the things I love about Entwined:
1. The Characters. Avery is a breath of fresh air. I love that she is stubborn, independent, and unwilling to give up. At the same time, I love how she was being indecisive when it comes to love, how sometimes she does things without thinking twice, amongst other qualities. It's a humane thing not to be perfect and I appreciate the author to make her a character that is both inspiring and flawed.
Now, my man Adrian. Sigh. I cannot type this without daydreaming about him. Yes, I know he is your typical bad boy who will sweep you off your feet and then drop you on the ground that causes not only broken bones but a broken heart as well. But MY MY. I love him. And I am rooting for him. Hopefully, they will end up together.

2. The Greek Mythology. I think the author did her research and twist a bit of the mythology to her advantage. I have to say, that is a clever move! Well done! I hope to see more of that in the sequel.

3. The Plot. Is it predictable? Maybe. But is it fun to read? Absolutely! I could guess about her parentage from the get-go but watching the main characters piecing it all together is surprisingly fun because even though readers might be able to guess, we don't know the links, the proof, and the history of it. And I love that scene where she and Adrian tried to find out more about the soulmate "rule" — I am unsure if I can call it that.

4. The Teen Lingo. I have no clue how old the author is but she gets the teen lingo on the mark. Most of the writers I know whether they are Wattpad authors or not, cannot seem to get the teen-speak. There's always weird words they pulled out just to indicate that they know what's cool. Not Entwined.

5. The World Building. It is often so hard for fantasy stories to have a good world-building where readers can relate to and able to picture it while reading the said stories. I think AJ did a decent job here. Are there things that can be improved? Yes. Is the world-building good enough? Yes. I hope that I see more world-building in the sequels but I am quite satisfied with Entwined.

Now, the things that I dislike or wish that it will be improved in the future sequels:
1. The Royals. Please have more characters that are of royal blood but not douchebags or assholes. Aside from the main characters, I could only think of the Queen and Renata which are both royals and decent people.

2. More cute moments. I want to see more cute moments between Adrian and Avery and not just Avery and Vladimir. If you are reading this review up to this point, you probably can guess that I ship Avery with Adrian. There are cute moments between Avery and Vladimir which makes me think he is probably her soulmate but I HAVE HOPE, PEOPLE!

Enough said. This book was a thrilling read and for that reason and other reasons I stated above, I do think it deserves a 5 stars.

Well, here we are, ladies and gents because this book was fab!
As some of you know, as a fellow Wattpad author I am first there on NetGalley requesting those arcs. I will show support to any of my fellow Wattpad authors and this goes without saying, especially when I saw Agatha was getting her book published.

To sum it up, I freaking loved this. If you follow me on Goodreads, you will know I adore anything about Gods/mythology related etc and this did not fail. I thought the entire concept was fun, quirky and the market for it right now really just works. These books are 'in' at the moment!
- I love AJ's writing. I literally could devour ever morsel she has ever written because she is so talented.
- Loved, no I adored Avery. She was exactly the female lead I wanted to read about and I felt like she was well developed. I also love my little baby Vlad. He has a special place in my heart. (Avery I am praying to the Gods you end up with him).
- Honestly, the story moved at exactly the right place. I was never bored or rolling my eyes at a filler chapter. It all seamlessly flowed together.
- AND THAT ENDING. Holy lord, I never read on Wattpad anymore but I might have to make an exception to get my hands on that sequel.

If I am being analytical, I think the only downside of this book was the predictability. However, I don't necessarily think this was a bad thing. It worked for this book and it sure as hell made my heart burst. But I could understand why some may find it tedious.

Overall, a definite recommendation. Well done and congrats Agatha, you deserve it!

Thank you to Netgalley for giving me the chance to read and review, "Entwined" by A.J. Rosen. I really enjoyed this YA book! The premise of the book is unique and fresh. Pretty quickly, I found myself engrossed in the story and the characters. I like that this story wasn't predictable! Things did really pick up and happen quickly about halfway through but I enjoyed the ride and the pacing. The ENDING left me on a cliffhanger and I feel like I am hanging from a cliff, waiting to read the next one. A great edition to the YA genre.

Entwined had me hooked from the start, is it a little predictable? yes, but it still managed to keep me on my toes. Avery is a well-balanced character she is very grounded which makes her the ideal lens to experience the court through. The cliff hanger has me thinking about downloading Wattpad so I can find out what happens next. Rosen is clearly a very talented writer and I can't wait to see what she does next.

Entwined is a story about descendants of Greek gods undergoing a ceremony to find their lifelong soulmate. Based off of this alone, the premise sounds amazing and unique. I LOVE that concept and the modernization of myths. That idea in itself was just five stars. We really do need more greek mythology stories!

Avery is a strong and independent character, she’s stubborn as well so while I liked that about her I think it came off as her trying too hard. The other thing that I really did not like was some of the writing. Instead of cussing Avery would say things such as “what the fruit” and “sweet roasted corn” as well as a lot of “oh my Posideon” and “oh geez Zeus”. I’m not going to lie but this drove me insane and I rolled my eyes every single time it was said. I understand she is 18 and so the target readers may be younger but it was done so excessively that it got under my skin. I REALLY hope the next book isn’t like that. i'm literally begging it won't be like that. There were also a lot of ?! placed everywhere. Some more editing would have been very beneficial for this.

That being said, even though some things bothered me, I still have to know what is going to happen next. I will definitely be checking out the next book when it comes out. Also, my overall rating would be a strong 2.5. Thank you to Netgalley and to the publisher for a copy of this book for review! Appreciate it as always!

SPOILER FREE REVIEW

I would like to thank Wattpad Books for sending me an ARC in exchange for a review.

The full review will be up on my Blog. I also filmed a YouTube video discussing this book where 10-15 minutes are only filled with my reactions so that you can truly get the idea of what a rollercoaster this book is. Both the Blog and YouTube review will be up on AUGUST 31.

Quick summary:
The story follows our main protagonist Avery who lives in a society descended from Greek gods and goddesses. Avery is brought to the Royal Court to take part in her first Gathering, which people attend in hopes of finding their soulmate. Avery finds herself not wanting to find her other half and get away from the traditions that her kind followed for generations. Things get complicated when a series of suspicious and tragic events occurs, further reminding us that there is something mysterious going on. With the help of her best friend's brother Vlad, whom she didn’t get along with, and Adrian, who kept flirting with her, Avery tries to uncover the truth while also keeping in mind that any day, she could find her soulmate and lose herself.

Overall review:
AJ Rosen created a world that pushes the limits of your imagination and makes you wonder how anybody could come up with such a story. The mystery aspect is what made this book impossible to put down and easy to read through the night and until early hours of the morning. If you pick it up, prepared to get sucked into the world of Greek mythology and murder.

Cons:
Some of the cons were that the dialogues seemed cheesy and unnatural at times. The writing did seem to be very convenient too. However, the descriptions were done really, really well.
Avery did feel a little bit flat at times and reckless but that's just who she is.

Enjoyment:
My enjoyment mostly derived from the intensity that the mystery provided. The plot twists in the second half of the book when everything had finally been established made me scream in excitement that my theories were either debunked or confirmed.
When I say that I’ve had many, many theories, that doesn’t even come close to painting the real picture on how many theories I’ve had. This book kept me at the edge of my seat, constantly guessing and trying to predict the final outcome.
And I couldn’t have predicted half of the things that ended up revealing themselves.

The main question for this book: does the mystery make up for some of the weaknesses this book has?
Yes. Definitely. I would 100% recommend it. If anything, at least you’re highly entertained.

All in all, I’m giving this book 4 stars because it in my opinion deserves it. I can understand why so many people on Wattpad enjoyed this book because it makes you constantly question what is going to happen next. It is a black hole, sucking you in and spitting you out with even more questions.

With that being said: I NEED THE SECOND BOOK. PLEASE. Thank you <3

In my full review on the blog, I touch up on world-building, characters, writing, atmosphere, plot and the pacing so stay tuned for that.

Reading some of the reviews, I am a bit confused. And maybe it's because I read the Wattpad original version and not the published version. The plot may have been different because in the version I read, Avery did not try to find ways to break the soulmate bond and she did not hate the thought of having a soulmate either. My review will strictly about the version I've read which is the original version. I've ordered the published version on Amazon and once I've read that version, I'll leave different review for that version too.

Back to my review: I absolutely adore this book! I've read it back in 2018 before the author started to rewrite the story. To be honest, that version was not the best. There were typo and grammatical mistakes however the one on Wattpad now that the author has rewritten and I'm sure it has gone through editing as well, is MUCH BETTER. It is worth purchasing coins for -- if you are on Wattpad, you know what I am talking about. I love how strong Avery is, how fun and sexy Adrian is, and how loyal Kristen is, and how caring Vladimir is. I love all those characters but what turn me into a huge fan of Rosen is the PLOT and those TWISTS that she/he has beautifully created. I've read the second book Enamoured too and there are even more twists and secrets being unveiled.

Dear author, if you are reading this, I beg of you to update the third book because I am dying to know what will happen and what you have in store for us!

I firstly want to thank Smith Publicity and Wattpad books for involving me in the upcoming blog tour.

For me this was a very easy book to read, and it has gotten me out of the reading slump I have been in for the past week.
I found the writing style very smooth and it flowed nicely throughout the book, the dialogue was natural and I found myself immersed in the scenes.
I think the fact that the main character, Avery, had a different take on her future (compared to the others) was rather refreshing as there are so many soul mate novels out there where the protagonist is yearning for someone. Avery is a strong character who doesn’t agree with people/traditions, I am hoping we get to see Avery swear/curse a little bit more in the next book as it does make me laugh.
The twists and turns are cleverly done, and throughout the earlier chapters there are some nice hints if you can spot them!
I found myself liking both Adrian and Vlad equally, as they both offered something different and from the start there was no ‘clear winner’ in the love triangle.
As someone that is clueless about greek mythology I didn’t find myself out of my depth when reading, everything was explained to you which I appreciated.

If you are a fan of greek mythology, love triangle plot twists and quick easy reads this is definitely for you.

Entwined is a young adult novel full of Greek mythology, soulmates, a love triangle and a mystery.

The story starts explaining us the Greek mythology story about how humans, gods and demi-gods where created. What happened in order to get a social ranking between demi-gods and why the Gods gave these demi-gods the chance to find their other half. We can find the following status:

↠Pure Royals - descended from Zeus, Poseidon, or Hades
↠Royals - descended from any of the major gods on Mount Olympus
↠Regulars - descended from the minor gods & who went against the Gods at some point in an epic battle.

While you instantly may think "oh, that's quite romantic" it can be quite the opposite. Moreover, our main character, Avery Montgomery thinks this "gift" is more like a "curse". While everyone teaches the demi-gods' kids that finding their soulmate is a privilege, Avery has had pretty bad experiences from seeing her parents fight constantly as well as her neighbours splitting up despite being soulmates and the guy getting together with another woman while his wife was in a coma.

Rosen's concept of the soulmates was pretty interesting to me because not only you find your other half and everything is suppose to make sense from that moment, but you share all your thoughts with your other half and they, obviously, can hear yours. So in the story, the main character poses the critical question of what happens when being someone's soulmate doesn't work. What do you do then? Her experience so far has been seeing people suffering, so she has always had plans to escape her destiny.

Within this story line of wanting to avoid her destiny, we have the mystery of Avery hearing the sacred tree at court speak, people acting weird around her and being followed, the three ladies at court who keep looking at her (lowkey, my theory is that they are the Fates) and the fact that there's a sort of terrorist group called the Faction who where the ones who ended up being punished by the Gods for killing all the descendants of Hades.

If you are wondering where the love triangle fits in all this story, I can't really tell you without giving you a massive spoiler. But believe me, it's there and you will see it coming half-way through the book.

The story has substance and has a lot of potential to develop into one of those mind-blowing series where you cannot put down until you have finished all the books. To me, my only complaint would be the characters. There's no development throughout the story. The start and finish being the same. However, if my theories are correct and if the author publishes a second novel, I think this would be quite easily fixed.

I honestly couldn't put this book down and it was the first Young Adult novel I had read after a very long reading slump. I think this just speaks for itself. While I wouldn't say Entwined is a masterpiece, it is indeed one of my favourite reads of 2020 and I will keep annoying Rosen until we have a continuation because I am going crazy with my theories at this point!

For anyone concerned about the content, it is quite a pretty clean YA novel. There's a few kisses and references to the main characters feelings, but that's about it.

In conclusion, just read Entwined if you enjoy sweet stories about soulmates, with mysteries and twists and turns. Also, I hope you are team Vlad whenever you finish the novel.

I received an ARC of the book from Smith Publicity and Wattpad Books in order to provide an honest review.

FULL REVIEW ON https://alittleshelfrighteous.wordpre...

MY THOUGHTS

❝What if your soul mate never comes? What if you waste your whole life waiting for someone who never shows up?❞

High school bully? ✔️
Ex crush and notorious player? ✔️
Best friend’s brother? ✔️
Family issues, including strangely horrible and emotionally unavailable parents? ✔️
Obscure Harry Potter reference? ✔️
Every cliché going? ✔️

On the surface, Entwined sounds promising, but the novel suffers greatly from being too predictable and falling back on the unpolished storylines prominent on 2012 Wattpad. It doesn’t feel developed enough to be published — I always have higher standards for (traditionally) published books because there’s an entire creative team and editor ensuring the quality. An excess amount of tropes can be found in this book and — as much as I like clichés sometimes — there’s no original spin on them, causing the whole thing to feel haphazard and chaotic.

❝I should have known better than to allow myself to be vulnerable and give someone the chance to break me. It was like giving a murderer a gun and expecting not to be killed. Love was a myth.❞

Although parts of the world and lore are a little surface-level, Rosen’s effort at bringing more of Greek mythology into YA is admirable. Greek mythology is so vast and rich and the take on soulmates in Entwined is interesting enough, if not rough in parts. The time period is too ambiguous for my taste and I personally don’t like books where it’s seemingly modern day yet they go to a court and dress or dance like it’s the 1500s. Some of the elements reminded me a lot of The Selection, so if you enjoyed that book, Entwined might be perfect for you.

❝The idea of being trapped in this predetermined destiny makes me sick.❞

FINAL VERDICT

I didn’t like Entwined and I’d doubt you’d like it if you’re looking for well-developed characters, a complex plot or a book you can get emotionally invested in. On the other hand, if you want a quick, fast-paced read that will distract you for a few hours, this could be for you. To be honest, I might have liked this more if I was still thirteen. A lot of this book fell flat for me and it felt more like an outline or first draft than the finished book. If anything, my primary issue with this book lies in the lack of structure and how the events don’t connect and there isn’t enough build up for certain plots to pack the intended emotional punch. Overall, it was a solid premise with a lacklustre execution.

Thank you to Smith Publicity and NetGalley for providing me with a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book was everything I wanted and needed in a book. I was gifted this book as an ARC copy but reading the synopsis of the book I already knew I would enjoy it. This book contains a bit of Greek mythology, love triangles, and the concept of soul mates (everything I love in books). I thought this book had a very interesting concept and I would recommend anyone looking for a light read to read this book. I am excited for the book to come out as well as the second part of the series to come out as well. I do have to say that I wish it did have a bit more of Greek mythology but continue to give it 5/5 stars mostly because the author did a good job in introducing this new Greek mythology concept to readers (the correct term for their ancestors is Hellenicus) which just made me love the book more.
