When her brother is killed, Trouble, who has everything she could ever want because of her brother and his "complex occupation," embarks on a mission of revenge that involves seducing the enemy and then killing him.
Brandi Johnson the first time author who rose up on the scene by accident. Brandi picked up on her love for writing at a young age, but never in a million years dreamed that any of her work would ever get published. With an imagination so strong and vivid as hers, she decided to put it to the test. She became serious about her passion for writing and that's when her first novel "Spoiled Rotten" was born.
Brandi had almost given up on her dream but her heart and God wouldn't let her. She was introduced to her Editor/Agent Joylynn Jossel, to whom she is grateful to have in her corner. God took her by one hand and Joylynn Jossel by the other hand and they walked Brandi down a road that ended with a book deal.
Brandi has since written the novel "In My Girls I Trust" and a short story named "Hayden's Song" that can be found in the collaboration "Even Sinners Still Have Souls."
Brandi resides in Mansfield, Ohio where she is the busy mother of three boys and is currently working on another novel.
OMG! THIS IS MY FAAV BOOK OF ALL TIME. I LEARNED THAT EVERY GOOD THING IN LIFE CAN EVENTUALLY COME TO AN END. FORGIVE AND FORGET. AND FIGHT FOR TRUE LOVE BECAUSE IT LASTS FOREVER.
towards the end of this book, I must admit, I got very emotional. If my Brother died and was taken away from me Permanately, I dont know what I would do.
Trouble Lewis is a beautiful 17 year old girl. She is the envy of most girls at her high school. All Trouble cares about is the latest fashions , her older brother Jayson and her friends. Oh yeah there is the love of her life Dariel Daniels. Since she has loved him since she first saw him when she was five. There's just one problem. His crazy and contoling girlfriend Jamela is always around. In thsi book Trouble is faced with more trials and tribulations then she deserves. However she refuses to quit.
I tjough this book was very well written. I liked it because it was relatable and realistic. I think it not only entertains it teaches valueble lessons. This book teachs you to never take life or people for granted.
The mom, the dudes, her brother, her dad.. sis was not catching a break.
But let’s just get into the real spill because the book could have been written way better in my opinion. I felt it took too long to get to the main point.
While the book was not horrible it could have been condensed in my opinion.
Overall it was still a good read and was not boring in any way.
Trouble needed all of her behind whooped for the little stunt she pulled as well but I can say she made up for it.
I HATE THIS BOOK! It was poorly written and contained the worst ending of all times. I truly believe that Brandi Johnson needs to go back to her day job and leave writing to the "big guys". The cover and synopsis are both misleading. I almost didn't read it because I thought was going to about a woman but it was really about a teenager. In the beginning, I fell in love with Dariel and I really thought he was a good guy until the end when he went back to Trouble after everything he went through with the drama. I still have my respect for Dariel. I knew Trouble was a drama queen from the start of the book. When I think about it, Trouble and Jameelah are just alike.
When reading this book I thought this is a long book and if its not interesting then I'm not going to want to do this. But I finished the first chapter I was hooked on this book. I couldn't put it down and refused to put it down. This book pulled me in right from the beginning and was able to keep me in through to the end. I enjoyed every moment that this book had. I also really enjoyed the fact that I was able to feel as though I knew the characters, especially in one point of the book with a death, it even made me cry. I recommend reading this book to anyone and everyone. People may say don't judge a book by its cover but this one should be because its hot.
I really liked this book until I reached the end, one character in particular who goes by the name "Trouble", I had mad respect for, that is until I reached the last few chapters of the book, in my opinion she really sold herself short, I understand she wanted to avenge her brother's death but she went about it the wrong way and needless to say she stooped to low to do it, And not only that she decided to bore a bastard child from the same guy who took the life of her brother, what a shame..

this book was really good, im goin read it again thats how much i had like it, it made me cry because he brother died they was so close he provided for her,and that was a good plan how she had kill woo but it took her along time lol
Starts w/ a couple stealing from Trouble’s crackhead mom. Despite her name, Trouble is pretty good, just spoiled by her brother she makes sweat will never do drugs to be messed up like their neglectful parents. Her brother is involved in running a strip club and slinging hash. This book is mostly high school hookup drama, realistic but bordering goofy slang and boy/baby crazy teens. Lots of banter and almost creepy sibling bond. Author says “chocolate cave” or “chocolate waterfall” too much to describe vagina: cringey and calls to mind grosser excrement. Also, she always calls male genitalia their “warrior.”
When Trouble’s relatives find out about the big inheritance she stands to win, they want to raise her under the guise of providing a better education/environment. This is okay but it’s too long with too many needless exchanges. I like that Trouble is a virgin and knows who she is/what she wants, perusing medicine, and how her brother feels for a stripper but it’s not that exciting.
I got this book from the Library, and after reading it, it was so good that I purchased the book. I always recommend it to people. It reminds me of The Coldest Winter Ever, but it's very unique in its own way. I fell in love with all the Characters. Being from Cleveland, Ohio I especially fell in love with Trouble and her Brother... It just hits so close to home. Keep writing! Excited to read your other bodies of work
This is the very first book I've ever read without being Told to read... I loved it up until the climax. I waa really devastated at the plot twist... No lie. It blew me thrice but I see now in good novels, The plot does that sometimes....
But dang, it was crazy how shawty switched up with that fool then switched back & made the babies.... Nevermind
This was a pretty good book but it started to seem really long after a while. Some of the information, I felt, was unnecessary and made it drag on for me.
I borrowed this from the local library a while back & well, would have preferred that the author had of spent the time releasing a follow up to POWDER BLU instead of this book----respectfully.
Honestly, I really liked the book. I don't think it was bad at all. I liked how the author really made me feel like I was in the characters shoes. I think the author was trying to explain or tell a story about what goes on in a black family that is going through the struggle and I think the author achieved that because I say people, families go through stuff like that everyday and nobody can never know so I think this book was inspiring to me. I also think the author was trying to tell or show us something about true love but I can't exactly see what it was because the Girl Trouble in the book was so young. "Trouble Lewis is a beautiful 17 year old girl. In this book Trouble is faced with more trials and tribulations then she deserves. However she refuses to quit." Thats only some of what the book is about, but just so you can get a taste of it. Other then that I think the author did a great job. Good Job Author.
Brandi Johnson did a great job as painting a very vivid picture of her characters and hard struggles. Candria or as most people call her Trouble is a well taken kind of girl. Despite her mother being on drugs and her father leaving for another women Trouble's brother Jyson stepped up to the plate.Trouble is envied by every girl in her high school expect her close friends and wanted by every boy. She has her eye on one in particular Dariel Daniels who is her best friend's cousin. She has been in love with him since day one, but it's one thing stopping her, his evil, overbearing, control freak girlfriend Jalmeelah.Trouble has to learn to accept things with every character in the book. But her life is soon put on a stop when she falls in love with her brother's killer. How will Trouble find her way out? How will she ever know what real love is all about?
This book not only teaches us a message but it gets down to the truth. Not only will people relate but reading you will rethink what true love is.
This book was ok. It was slow but managed to keep me interested until the end. I will admit however on the part when Jyson,Candria's brother was killed it struck a nerve and made me cry because at that point I began to identify with Candria's charactor I lost my brother at a young young age and we were extremely close so that part I related to her pain and grief, aside from that the book was ok. It is worth a one time read.
I just started reading this book about 2:30 this morning and I only put it down because my eyes started burning. So far its a good book. I dont think I have read anything from this author before but its a page turner.
maybe other people saw something i didn't but i just didnt enjoy this book the story line was just too obvious i knew what would happen after i finished reading the 1st chapter. This story line has been played out and has lost essence
I really enjoyed reading this book even though the ending surprised me a bit. I was hoping that the baby wasn't Dariel's but she was and I'd hoped that Trouble and Dariel would get together and stay together. In the end they did and overall I was happy.
