When Killian Brody showed up at Dallas Faircloth’s work with news that her half-brother might die without her help, she never expected the oldest and sexiest Brody to kidnap her to ensure her cooperation.
The scandalous affair between Dallas’s mother and Killian’s father made everything inside Dallas revolt at the Brody name. It was because of a Brody her life had been left in ruins at the age of eight, and she’d had to rebuild all on her own. She hated the Brodys. Which was too bad, really. Killian Brody was take-charge, arrogant and so damn sexy she would have climbed him like a tree if it weren’t for that last name of his.
Her weak-willed mother had proven to her that the men in the Brody family were as addictive as any drug, and Dallas didn’t want to get hooked. But when Killian turns his sights on her and makes her believe she’s his greatest weakness, she has a choice—play it safe, or dive in headfirst and risk falling in love with a Brody man.
The only thing that Dallas Faircloth knows for sure about the Brody family is that they hate the Faircloth family. Some stuff went down when she was young and a rift has been in place ever since. That ‘stuff’ that went down was very traumatising for her and even now as an adult she still has difficulty dealing with it.
Dallas is enjoying her new job but it all comes to an abrupt end when she is kidnapped by Killian Brody to become ‘spare parts’ for her half brother who is ill and needs her help. If she didn’t already have reason enough to hate this man, being taken against her wishes cements it even more.
Truth be told, she would have agreed to helping Des out without being forced into it but people making decisions for her really pisses her off. Having said all that, Killian turns out to not be as awful as she imagined he would be. In fact, their childhoods have quite parallel similarities and once they get past all of their disagreements, Dallas finds Killian quite agreeable.
‘I look at you and I recognize everything about you, because you and I have walked the same god-awful path. We distance ourselves from everyone, because distance is our insulation.’
Killian had no idea just how many layers there would be to Dallas and he finds himself almost falling over himself to spend time with her and get to know her. In fact, he pretty much stakes a claim on her and when he wants something - in this case someone - nothing stands in his way. Dallas doesn’t want to fall for Killian’s charm but she can’t seem to help herself. Is this history repeating itself or were they destined to meet each other?
‘From the moment I laid eyes on her, Dallas has been holding me hostage. Now all I can think about is her, and it’s driving me crazy.’
This is the third book in this series but the only oneI have read and it can be read as a stand alone. It is a fast moving story and once I got immersed into this I couldn’t put it down :)
This was such a pleasant surprise! What a headstrong take-no-shits heroine and a protective alpha hero! Brody was just swoon-worthy! Really did not think I was gonna love him that much. I'm glad they didn't "hate" each other for the entire book, they moved on from it pretty quickly which I appreciated. Read this book asap!
Holy crap I was beyond excited to read Killian and Dallas's story and Stacy Gail DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Beyond loved this story with a Spicy h and a guilt-ridden and grumpy H who takes family loyalty to the extreme in the best way possible! So much banter and throughout this book I felt like my heart got stomped on and I just wanted to scream at the characters. True to form of hot alphas and sassy heroines that totally suck you in.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader’s Copy of this book. Welcome back to Bitterhorn Texas and say HELLO hottie to the oldest Brody brother Killian. Ok, somethings to know about Killian: number 1 he’s a man that always gets what he wants no matter what it is. Number 2; he has a tendency to act without thinking whether this is by action or saying something, and number 3, the man is a protector which means sometimes he does number two because of this. Dallas Faircloth is a woman who hates the Brody name and never thought she would see Bitterhorn again. Why you ask? Simple, because her mother and Killian’s father had a affair which lead to a child, which lead to the absolute destruction of two families and the lives of 5 children as they knew it. Oh my, the heat between these two I can feel all the way from Texas to my house in KY!!!! The relationship between these two in the beginning is rough to say the least, after all he did “kidnap” her and bring her back to Bitterhorn. She was coming back on her own but he didn’t know that when he grabbed her. See here’s the thing, the half brother that they share was hurt and no one was a match but her, so even though she was coming back to help the little brother he didn’t know that so it was technically kidnapping but not really. LOL When they stop fighting and start talking they see how much they have in common, neither lived the life the other thought they did growing up, and they start having feelings for each other. Gail has done another awesome job at showing yes alpha men can be for lack of a better word a**holes, but they have feelings too and maybe can turn that part of themselves off for the love of a woman that will stand of to that and show them that they can show their softer side to the world. The last Brody brother is going to be the baby Des, he’s going to be a doozy and I can’t wait to see the woman who claims him.
Killian and Dallas were so sweet together, so hot, so sexy, and so, well bruised. The events of their childhoods left them marked, with a lingering spot that ached when poked. In their hearts, on their souls, and in their memories. Dallas is more aware of the moments, and Killian starts out as her aggravator, and becomes her solace. Killian is less aware, but his interactions with Dallas bring clarity to him of the repercussions of his actions. Once he starts to recognize his behaviour, he makes the changes he needs to be a better man. For himself, for his brothers, and most importantly for her
This story is full of assumptions, misguided realities, and lost hopes. Dallas held onto the better life her brother got, while she didn’t. Killian figured everything went on as normal for Dallas, and never considered anything else. The realities then and now are shocking to them both.
This story is full of one overbearing, overprotective, bullheaded, single-minded, male named Killian Brody, and you will love him! As he settles in and becomes comfortable with himself, you see his playfulness, his ego, and his confidence. He only wants what is best for those around him, and seeing him shower Dallas with love was a beautiful sight to behold!
Book 3 and ok I give it 4,5 stars (rounded to a 5) because I just enjoyed this story. I seem to have a thing for alpha men (even when they are bad!) and I liked that Dallas was feisty.
Now we see another side of the story about how two families had to deal with the affair of their parents, resulting in a child, Desmond. The side of Dallas. What she went through when her little brother was taken from her arms and her life was never the same again. When Killian Brody approaches her because Des is seriously hurt and might need a part of her liver, she is not amused. He then kidnaps her, not knowing Dallas would do anything for her lost brother. When the book starts Dallas is already in the town of Bitterthorn and there is a lot of banter between Killian and her.

This is the third book in the series - and I would recommend that you read them in order just to get the level of alpha male, and to be honest the level of entitled that the Brody brothers have. It will also give you some insight into their lives growing up, which does help explain some of Killian's over exuberant behaviour at the beginning of this book. One had to feel for him as a child having to be so protective of his brothers from a parent.
Dallas is one of the funnest characters that I have read in a while. She is sharp, smart and also an absolute treasure. She was always going to do the right thing, but she loves reminding Killian about his outrageous behaviour ... and that she was already in the process of returning to the town of her horrible childhood. There was nothing there for her but sad and unhappy memories - brought about by the Brody family, so we know pretty quickly what a genuinely good person she is. I love her positive approach to life, in spite of her childhood. Her jobs have made her broad minded, interesting and given her many talents the chance to shine - I would love to have her as a friend!
What was lovely was when they both acknowledge that without the crazy in their pasts they could see that they were really well suited. Then it is just a matter of the children not paying for the sins of the parents kind of realisation which just needed to be resolved. And Stacy Gail gives us a really well-crafted tale to get them just where we knew they should be all along!
Definitely my favourite of the three brothers' stories - will it be yours?

The characters in this book are well written, but then again, they have to be. The whole story is based on the premise that Dallas has to return to her hometown to be literally give a piece of her liver to save her half-brother. Killian Brody actually used the term 'spare parts' when referring to her.
She gets it. He's Brody's half-brother too. She'd do anything for Des, including risking her life so that he can get a piece of her liver. What she doesn't get, is why Brody is such a pain the butt. One minute he's civil, the next he's stomping off to who knows where.
Brody doesn't expect to like Dallas. After all, it was her mother that tore his family apart and set his mother loose on the crazy train. He thinks that she had a better life without all the craziness. Until one night they compare childhoods and found out that both were equally horrible.
Both Brody and Dallas' childhoods were sacrificed at the hands of the adults who couldn't see outside of themselves to protect the children they brought into this world. As adults they can finally let go of the past and embrace the future.
I started Bruised this morning and couldn’t put it down, I absolutely loved it! With each book in the series, I think those characters are my favorites but I really think Killian and Dallas will keep that title. I was hooked from the beginning and couldn’t wait to find out how they worked out their differences. This story was well worth the wait for it to come out.
Killian was impulsive and sometimes that led to some less than ideal situations but he was quick to try and make things right. He loved his family so much that he was willing to do whatever it took to protect them. Once he started thinking of Dallas as his that same attitude applied to her as well.
Sometimes with a series, one book may be okay but more of a filler and not quite up to par with the rest. That is not the case with these books. Each book in this series has been amazing on its own and together, make up a fantastic continuing story. I can’t wait for Des’s book to come out.
*I received a free ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
this was the third in this series, Kill short for Killian and he sounded hot! like the other brothers..I have to say I loved Dallas she was an awesome main character and honestly that is what I liked about the book everything she went thru and she was still funny and spicy (just like what Kill called her) Des had no reason to hate her but we have to remember what he also went thru as a kid and it wasn't that he wanted nothing to do with her I just think that mentally he wasn't prepared. It was good to read about the past characters, I was a little sad that Lila didn't get to develop such an awesome commoradary as Celia.
Dallas and Killian's first meeting is...well, rough is the word that comes to mind. He's demanding and unmovable. She's wary and defensive. With his baby brother's life hanging in the balance, he goes into overprotective mode and does some things that put Dallas's back up even further.
Plus, he's a, you know, Brody and the Brody family has been at the source of most of the heartache and disruption in her life. Which isn't Killian's fault because he had nothing to do with the things that happened before, but the Brody name doesn't ignite happy feelings in Dallas when she hears it and she acts accordingly.
AS ONE DOES.
But Dallas is also a realist. She might not love Killian's way of doing things, but she'll do anything to protect her younger brother. WHO HAPPENS TO BE A BRODY. Do you see how that could complicate things?
The family dynamics might be a little tangled, but the chemistry between Dallas and Killian...actually, that's a little tangled, too. Because of their respective parents' asshattery, they're both wary about getting involved. At first. But a scorching kiss or two leads to other things and soon their parents are the last thing they're thinking about.
Those Brodys, man. They're good at tackling challenges and coming out on top. I'm talking about more than just their business ventures, too. They fall for stubborn, fiery women and they have to WORK to earn their trust. I LIKE THAT.
The final (and, possibly, the most complicated) brother is the only one who hasn't fallen and fallen hard. I AM READY!
What a way to start a relationship!! Dallas hates the Brodys and with good reason her mom cheated with one and now one of that mans sons is asking her to help , and by asking he kidnaps her and then as much as she wants to she can not deny the feelings and the chemistry, this was one hot and awesome story!!!
It all started with a kidnapping. Killian will do whatever it takes to save his half brother Dez and that includes tracking down Dez’s half sister Dallas. Killian is an over the top possessive alpha male who falls for Dallas and Dallas is a strong woman who can stand up to Killian and when they come together its explosive and sexy.
Did not disappoint Another great addition to the Brody brothers series. Bruised, so aptly named, had me cringing, laughing, in tears & sighing cause it was just so darn sweet, in an unconventional way. Killian & Dallas have had to overcome such trauma as their families shatter from their parents failings. I know Killian loves his brothers but felony kidnapping a women kinda threw me. Dallas is tough, spicy yet so much heart & I love how she handles a bulldozer like Killian.
This has also given me a renewed sense of awe for organ donation, in particularly live donation.
I'm pre-ordering the next as soon as it's available.
Since we first met the larger than life, Alpha males of the Brody family, their stories have been confronting, physical, and emotionally charged to the max, but none more so than this heart-wrenching story of the eldest Brody brother and the woman who shares his youngest brother’s DNA. Killian Brody is arrogant, in your face, take no prisoners, and definitely makes no apologies for taking what he wants and never losing a moment of sleep in the process. He does however have one undeniable weakness….his brothers. Well that’s until the force of nature known as D, comes rampaging into his life and turning everything in her path on its head.
While I have thoroughly enjoyed and shed many tears whilst reading Branded and Braced; Bruised left me gutted. Just when I thought that the cruelty and suffering endured by four young boys couldn’t rip my heart apart any further, I found the final pieces totally shredded as I witnessed the years of emotional guilt experienced by a grown man for the brothers he failed to protect as an innocent 12 year-old. But when Dallas entered Killian’s life (let’s not dwell on the fact that kidnapping is a capital offence) he discovered that misery was far reaching and impacted not only the Brody clan, but an equally innocent 8-year-old girl who then spent 20 years believing she betrayed her little brother’s trust by letting not holding tight.
Readers were given glimpses into Killian in the earlier books, but as you turn the pages of Bruised, the truth behind his gruff and dominant persona, is finally revealed and the reality is devastating. As much as the Ryland and Finian’s stories have touched my heart, Bruised is definitely my favourite book of the series and Killian’s story goes soul deep. There was nothing that I didn’t love about this book; excellent world building, an all too real storyline, and characters that could make you laugh, even while you were crying your eyes out.
I don’t know if I will survive the telling of Desmond’s upbringing and the horrors that no child should endure; but even with my fractured and battered heart from having read Branded, Braced and Bruised, nothing will prevent this glutton for punishment from reading the final Brody brother’s story. Thank you Ms Gail for telling a devastating and exceptional story, while dragging your readers (and Dallas) kicking and screaming right along with you.
Dallas has lived her life with the scars her parents left on her psyche. But, she hasn't let those scars keep her from growing into a strong, independent person. When Killian Brody storms back into her life, literally kidnapping her, taking her to save their shared half-brother's life, she fights back, and somehow loses her heart to him in the process.
I gotta say, I had a serious hate going on for Killian for about half this story. But I absolutely adored Dallas throughout. She's amazing. Thank God Killian came to his senses, had an epiphany actually, and took his head out of his ass and started treating Dallas the way she deserved, or I would have volunteered to kick his ass for her.
I loved Bruised! It's more than a little emotionally heartrending, it's really steamy, and the trope of alphahole being brought to his knees by a special woman is done really well here. I am really looking forward to more of the Brody Brothers!
ARC via Enticing Journey Book Promotions for an honest review.
Bruised was story that I enjoyed once I got past the beginning which seemed a bit slow to me. See, Dallas hasn't had the easiest life, nope, it was a nightmare especially after she lost her brother, then her evil parents, making sure she spent the rest of her younger days in foster care. Now, she flits around life working different job all over the place, until Killian Brody kidnaps her for her organs to save his brother Des, who just happens to be the brother she lost when she was a girl. They clash all the time, because frankly, he's a total jerk to her which he has no right to be when she's doing what she's doing basically being his prisoner, while Des doesn't even want to see her. But they have some serious quite chemistry, and it's throwing off sparks everywhere. And no matter how hard they try to keep it contained, it won't be denied, so what follows is some HOT sexy times. Not to mention, these two finally get to a common ground together, so while they still argue because he's an alphahole, it's not an intense anymore, more like foreplay. Finally, they give into the chemistry that won't be denied, and light the sheets on fire, but there's still so much to be worked out, but do they even want to be together? You'll have to one click to find out! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Let me start off by saying Killian is AWESOME! He is the type of hero that takes no prisoners, when he wants something, he gets it and doesn't let anything stop him. When his half brother is in dire need of a liver transplant, he sets out to make it happen, even if that means he needs to kidnap someone, he will do it. Killian is also the oldest of the Brody brothers and as such, as had a hard life and done things that he will forever feel guilty about (not going to spoil it, read the book to find out more).
Enter the heroine, Dallas. She is the perfect match for the liver needed but things are more complicated than that. She is seeing as an enemy to the Brody's because of her mothers past actions and the feeling is mutual when she first meets Killian. Dallas has had a hard life being abandoned at a young age and living in foster homes but as an adult, she is a typical feisty redhead and knows how to take care of herself.
The thing that drove Killian and Dallas to hate each other, is also what might just get them together - the fact that they both had lousy parents and know what the other has gone through.
Although this is book 3 in the series, it can be read as a standalone. It is written in a dual pov and has both steamy & emotional scenes with a HEA. I was tempted to give this 5 stars but there were times when I felt it was a bit overly descriptive. However, overall it is well written.
Killian’s father and Dallas’s mother had an affair that not only affected Des, the child they conceived, but destroyed the two families as well. Killian is a man on a mission and that mission is saving his half brother even if that means reconnecting with the family he never wanted to see again and kidnapping the one person who can help.
Dallas was devastated when the actions of her mother took away her brother and she would do anything for him. She didn’t need to be forced to help and the fact that Killian thought she needed to only increased the tension between them. They are both damaged by the past and it is only when they get to know each other for who they are rather that who they think the other is that they can truly heal.
I enjoyed both these characters as Killian wants to protect those he loves despite the personal consequences and Dallas is his perfect match as her feisty independent personality isn’t afraid to stand up to Killian.
Both Dallas and Killian were bruised by what happened when they were children. It still affects them as adults. When Killian's father and Dallas' mother had an affair they had Desmond as a result. The emotional uproar sent shock waves through both families.
Killian has "impulse issues" which caused him to kidnap Dallas. Dallas insists she was on the way to help her brother when she was abducted. She doesn't let Killian forget what he did. I like the way Dallas and Killian spar as they get to know each other. Their attraction is immediate. I like how Killian reacts when Dallas says no to being his f+++ buddy. I guess no one had turned him down before. It is not a good idea to get on his bad side. He makes sure those who offend those he loves see the error of their ways.
I love that Killian calls Dallas "Spice". He likes her spicy personality.
I look forward to reading Des' story. I think will be good. I enjoyed this book.
Gah, broken and bruised men that eventually figure out who they are and that they are redeemable and can actually be happy and have a personality... welcome to freaking Killian Brody! As being the oldest Brody he has a sense of family that can be a bit misguided with how far that loyalty goes and he is also a HUGE alpha man that gets what he wants, usually.
The Chemistry between Killian and Dallas is freaking fire! These two have both been 'bruised' from their upbringing, but it is how you deal with it when it is in your face and how you let it shape you. I love all of these interactions and how everything plays out.
I am a huge freaking fan of this book, you need to read it if you love Stacy Gail, and if you have not you should still read this! I am a freaking fan now though, that is for sure!
PS: I received this book as an ARC but I am voluntarily and honestly reviewing it.
This story was so sweet! I have not read the previous two books but had no trouble reading this one first . I could follow the story and understand everything with no problem . This is a First by this writer for me but it won’t be the last. I love Ott j/p alpha males and Killian was definitely that . So this is a story about two families , two tragedies , that affected the next generation and injured every one of their hearts . The back story really broke my heart . The hero’s half brother needs a liver so he kid naps the brothers half sister . Seriously Dallas has some sass for Killian but he takes it in stride . Both of these characters were lovable and sweet and this is a story of a families redemption and rebuilding. I really got hooked from the beginning and can’t wait to read the other brother’s stories . If you like alphas this is your story!
This series just keeps getting better and better. Once again the author has written a storyline that touched my emotions on every level. The characters actions felt like they were playing out right in front of my eyes. Characters that are head-strong, sassy, bossy and yet so loveable (even in the moments I just wanted to smack them upside the head). The storyline is not for the faint of heart as it touches on a very emotional time when hard choices must be made. But trust me it’s a ride you’ll want to tag along on. I loved Killian Brody, the domineering, protective, hard nosed alpha male and I simply adored Dallas; she knows her mind and is a sassy feisty one yet so full of heart. These two together, well when they get it right, is wonderful. 2 Thumbs Up and 5 stars for a great read.
When you bring a strong female chats get with a strong willed male, this story is what you get. This story is one that’s ticks with you long after the last page. The characters have flaws, but continue living and learning. The past is described in a scary surreal way, but it builds the story into what it is today. The author develops the characters in an amazing way that makes you feel like you’re with them in the book.
Killian and Dallas have this history that is being held against them. As their relationship develops, you see the changes they go through together and separately. They learn that when you take the leap, you sometimes land exactly where you are meant to be.
This is the third book in this awesome series, and each book just seems to get better and better. Killian is a sexy protective alpha, who is the eldest of the Brody brothers. Dallas is a feisty female who is kidnapped by Killian in order to save their mutual half brother, whom is a result of Dallas’s mom having an affair with Killian’s dad. No spoilers; this is a definite must read, you will not be disappointed. This is a well written flawless story which is emotional, heartbreaking, entertaining and a steamy read. I was captivated throughout, and I recommend for all readers.
Dallas doesn't want anything to do with the Brody brothers. Her mother and their father had an affair that destroyed her childhood. Killian is the oldest Brody brother and is trying to get Dallas to come home so their half brother can get a piece of her liver for his treatment. Dallas goes since she would do anything for her brother. These two have more in common than the thought and the sparks fly between them. Will their relationship end up crashing and burning or will it stay strong? An awesome read that I recommend.
I received a copy of this book and am leaving a review.
i loved this story of Kill and Dallas, this alpha male who is still paying the price of harsh words said as he was 12. She is a strong woman who is the half sister of Des and who tried so hard to protect him. she suffered along but was courageous and resilient and became the strong, beautiful woman she now is. Kill is also tormented by his past, horrible parents, and guilt so hard to bare,
I really loved his fierce tenderness, her strength, and their journey.
Yet again Stacy Gail has created pure gold in the Brody brood... i couldnt put it down... I absolutely fell in love with Dallas and my heart broke for both families... I cant wait to read Des' story!!
Another fantastic addition to this series!! When the oldest Brody falls he falls hard. The chemistry between Killian and Dallas set my kindle on fire!! Killian kidnaps Dallas to save their mutual half brother and the sparks fly since Dallas is so feisty. This story is emotionally charged and heartbreaking as well as captivating and entertaining. A must read. I highly recommend this book!!
Oh my gosh!! I love Stacy Gail and her writing. Her characters are strong, brave, bossy and oh so passionate. There's lots of action, adventure, romance, anger and laughter. I highly recommend this and all of her books and series!!
