My Review:

Emma Hart is relatively new to me; this is only my third time picking up one her riotously funny tales and I am kicking myself for not discovering this clever minx years ago. Kiss Me Not is the start of a new series and I am all in for whatever Ms. Hart wants to throw down - unless she starts writing zombie stories – those would probably be a no-go. Penned in my favorite dual POV, her writing sparkled and zinged with witty and irreverent banter, a trio of feisty and sassy friends, and smirk-a-minute levity at a lively and snappy pace. I adored it!

When I read the blurb, I knew I had to read this book. It sounded all kinds of fun...I mean we are talking about a "kissing booth" here !!

I can gladly say that I definitely had a good time recording this one. The heroine was all kinds of "sassy" and there were plenty of "laugh out loud" moments.

Now, what would you do if you were the reigning "kissing booth" champion and you would be getting new competition....in the form of the hot guy you have had a crush on for like forever. Having to listen to him kissing all these other girls !!
 

Thankfully, Preston was also a great hero...so no worries :P

If you are looking for something light, fun and romantic, I definitely recommend this book. I myself can't wait for the next one, and I will also be checking any other books by this author, since I am a bit late to the party ;)

I think I need to accept that for the most part, Emma Hart books are just not for me. They’re often cutesy to the point of being silly and it bores me. I mean, the conflict here is caused by something along the lines of “you said my dog is stupid and now we can’t be friends! BOOOO! *sticks out tongue*”
So I think that was my last one of hers for a while.

I pick up a book by the hugely talented and incredibly funny Emma Hart and I assume that I am in for a funny, sexy, yet still emotional treat. Thank you Ms Hart, I am currently having a new kitchen fitted and cannot access the coffee as easily as usual, you Ms Hart are a sanity saver! Kiss Me Not is an outstanding start to a new series that has me dancing in the book shop. (ok, I am not actually in a book shop, but if I were then I would do an Emma Hart boogie.) 

I love great characters and Halley and Preston et al have that area covered. The quirks, the plot, the trope. This is one that I will definitely be reading again.

It’s good, it’s funny, and swoon-worthy too. 5 out of 5. I’m an undeniable fan of this author. I cannot get enough.

**Synopsis:**
Halley is the reigning kissing booth champion and for the first time ever she’s got some serious competition in the form of Preston. Problem is, she’s had a crush on Preston for ages and has no desire to listen to him smooching other women all day. But, with a bet on the line, she’s determined not to let Preston claim the winning title.

** The following are my thoughts about this book: **
* * the characters were immature.
* * I’m not a fan of audio as the story dynamics can completely change depending on the narrator’s interpretation of the character. So, with that in mind, Halley was a little annoying at times. But, I’m not sure if that’s because the narrator made her sound that way. I wonder if I would have just read it if I would have had a different opinion?
* * no character growth throughout the story
* * no major conflicts except for Preston insulting Halley’s attachment to the raccoons, which caused her to get mad
* * I was a little confused about the characters. There were some contradictory things mentioned between chapters that caused some confusion regarding their true personalities.
* * they both had crushes on each other for awhile, but neither said anything. Inner dialogue something like this....”I like him but I don’t want to say anything. I wonder if he likes me too. Is it possible? Maybe he likes me too and doesn’t want to say anything either”. OMG 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
And when it came to Preston, not asking her out even though he had a crush made me feel like Preston was a little wimpy. Man up dude and ask the girl out! Also, the use of the word “crush” rather than “attraction” was just another reason this seemed so immature.
* * the humor...childish. Examples: Preston names his fish Uranus (cue anal jokes) and a wild raccoon humps a stuffed raccoon. Um....ok. 😏
* * no sizzle or chemistry. This really felt like a YA

Kiss Me Not is a wonderfully written and highly entertaining rom-com. I always adore Emma Hart's books. Regardless of what genre they are, she always delivers exactly what her readers want. Her heroes are always strong and caring with hearts of gold, and her heroines are the perfect mix of sassy and sweet. This is exactly what we got with Kiss Me Not. It is a cute and fun story, and I can't wait to see what the author has in store for us next.

I read 70% of this and skimmed the remaining 30%.

This was gonna be a 2, maybe 3 star for me but it was just so boring and the conflicts so freaking dumb, I hated the characters (but they had some good lines, that I will give) and, most importantly, there's a line in the book somewhere that goes something like "pregnancy inevitably means childbirth" and just. No, absolutely not.

I did not vibe with our heroine at all. She was far too harsh with our hero and projecting her insecurities and past family trauma on him. When he 'insulted' her raccoons she closed off and raised her walls without even trying tounderstand that he's not actually being mean.

I really wanted to love this one more than I did, but I think Emma Hart's writing is not for me. Such a shame because prior to reading this, I've heard a lot of great things regarding the author's writing. But reading Kiss Me Not, I ended up having two big issues. I do agree that it is a fun read. It has its hilarious moments and yes, also the sass. But speaking of sass, let's get on with my issues...

1.) The CHARACTERS

Identical
I love sass in my reads like everyone. My problem in this book is everyone's sassy or snarky to the point that the characters' voices are almost identical. Like if I don't give my 100% attention to reading, I wouldn't know who's speaking. This is one of the few books I read that I got a problem with the characters' voices. I mean, I'm all for making everyone funny and sassy but at least give them different voices so I can identify them. For example, I think the only difference between Halley and her two friends is their current lives. Halley is the reigning kissing booth champion and feeds the raccoons. And her two friends, one always lose on bets and the other always wins. That's not enough. I can't even remember their names because, in my mind, they're all the same...

And when I say everyone, that includes Preston Wright, our dear male protagonist. His humor and character are almost identical to the girls. One more thing, I have a problem with Preston's way of seeing women. It's not always verbal or actual, but in his point of view, he addressed the women lining up for him to be kissed as...let's just say Preston is a bit too full of himself. Like these women, most women seem low because they're doing what they're doing. I mean, he's handsome and everything, of course, women will line up. And it's a f*cking kissing booth. Let me put it this way, for him, Halley is so f*cking perfect, like level-10 perfect, and other girls didn't even reach level 1. I understand that he's in love with Halley and Halley is a perfect catch, but really???

And by the way, the sass gets old too quickly so it's not fun anymore.

Confling characterization

For example, Halley is a catch, she knows it and even says it herself, but sometimes her tone implies the opposite. She's one of those women who we know is perfect but she has lots of doubts about it. It's like the author is trying to make her perfect but at the same time, make her seem relatable which is the most annoying thing about a character. For God's sake, if she's perfect, so be it. The readers know this is fiction so we can understand if she's more than perfect than a non-fiction woman. And it's the same with Preston. He's celibate but a few times, Halley mentioned Preston dating many girls, girls who are opposite of hers, (so you know, Halley thinks she's not Preston's type.) Ugh! Whatever. It's like making Preston a perfect catch, like an ideal man but he must also be wholesome to make him more perfect. Again, ugh!!!

CONFLICT
I think the conflict is too weak. We all know most Contemporary Romance end happily, right? But would we call books in the contemporary genre as predictable? OF COURSE NOT. Why? Because we love the journey towards the end. We love the conflicts that the couple resolve before they get their happy ending. THIS IS NOT THE CASE IN THIS BOOK. Really, the only thing preventing the two of them to have a relationship is their sass and whatever they have that they call as humor. Whenever they meet, they just snark at each other. I think it's to prove that this is a hate-to-love romance. LOL.

Can't they have a proper conversation like two adults? And yeah, I kinda picture them as young adults. I don't mean that young adults never have proper conversation but Halley and Preston is just too immature, I can't picture them as adults, and of course, I can't picture them as kids (they're in kissing booths, hehe) so I settled on picturing them as young adults.

I'm sorry if this ends up as a ranting review. When I started reading it, I never thought I would end up disliking it. When I'm done with it, I didn't plan on reviewing it, but then I realized this is my first flop read this year (and decade) so I though I needed to publish a review.

Emma Hart never fails to entertain me. I have read several of her books this year alone and none of those have left me feeling empty. Her books are always funny, quirky and very entertaining. And Kiss Me Not is no different. It's a best friends brother rom-com that will have you laughing in no time. It's full of wily little animals and undeniable attraction, and bets and I can't forget a kissing booth.

Halley Dawson is our heroine, and for all intents and purposes she a nerd who isn't afraid to be who she is and loves giving back to the community. But she has a problem, a crush that she's been having is never too far from her mind. But this year the fair changes all that. She's the reigning kissing booth champion but now she has a little competition, but it's with Preston, one of her best friends brother. Her unobtainable crush.

She's not eager to watch her crush kiss other women, but that doesn't stop her from making wagers and calling bets against Preston. What she doesn't know is that he returns her feelings.

"Apparently, I liked the bookish girl with an affinity for snarky comebacks."

When two go head to head and start spending more time together all bets are off because they find themselves wanting to kiss only each other. All they're feeling toward each other only progresses.

"And his kiss - oh, my God, it was the kind of kiss people wrote poems about."

Yep, apparently Preston is the master of kisses. But is he going to be the master of her heart? How will their story end? More importantly, who wins the bet? Nah, I am just kidding. Are these two meant to be or is this just an attraction they need to scratch?

I highly recommend this book, because it's full of things the world needs more of ; laughs and wit and love. If you need a change of pace with your regular reading, then pick up Kiss Me Not. Heck, I recommend any of Emma's books. None of them have ever failed to deliver exactly what they say.

Emma Hart has been teasing us with her all new, sweet romantic comedy for weeks now and I for one have been dying to get my hands on it. Not only is the cover super cute with an eye catching design, but the synopsis makes me just want to grab my copy of Kiss Me Not and totally devour it….And that it is exactly what I did.

Kiss Me Not is the kind of story that just pulls you in from the very first page. The plot is fun and unique. The characters are quirky, yet real and just make you want to know more about them. I loved the chemistry between Preston and Halley. You could feel the sparks between the two of them, the moment they entered a room together. Halley was super fiesty and wasn’t afraid to tell Preston like it was and Preston was the guy that ever girl wanted, yet he only had sights on Halley. I thought it was super cute how into one another these two characters were, yet neither one of them was prepared to take the leap and tell the other. Add in a kissing booth for a good cause and the tension and sparks between these two are destined to boil over.

Kiss Me Not is a super cute, light romantic comedy that is sure to leave you with a smile on your face and a belly full of laughs. Filled with Emma Hart’s signature humor and wit, Kiss Me Not also delivers on the swoon and steam. Preston and Halley’s story checked off all of my boxes and left me begging for more. I enjoyed every single moment of this story from beginning to end and I’m not ashamed to say that I devoured this story in just a few short hours. I just couldn’t get enough and never wanted to put it down.

Kiss Me Not was totally worth the wait and I for one can’t wait to see what author Emma Hart brings to the table next!

This was a fun, quick read that had me chuckling even when I was rolling my eyes and not only rooting for Halley and Preston to get their acts together, but also looking forward to spending a lot more time with all of the inhabitants of Creek Falls.

I loved Halley. She’s sweet, sassy and has a golden and genuine heart. She’s also a bit competitive and snarky, but it only adds to her charm. Preston is a good guy, but one who is a little wary of letting people get close to him. He’s charming, sweet and once he sets his sights on something ~ or someone ~ he does everything he can to get it.

Halley and Preston’s journey was a fun one. There weren’t all that many bumps in their road caused by outside interlopers, but they did have a lot of preconceived notions to get past ~ not only about each other, but themselves ~ which caused a lot of eye rolling on my part, but also a lot of laughter, But once they did, it was obvious that they had that something that could become amazing.

This was a fun, low on drama character driven romance and a great introduction to the town of Creek Falls and its inhabitants. Betty and Boris were my favs *wink* But I loved Regan and Ava, talk about my kind of BFF’s, and I cannot wait to get my hands on their books and watch these two fall!

This is an easy-going, delightful book to read. It was funny, sweet and romantic all rolled into one. With amazing quirky, hilarious secondary characters, a whole family of raccoons who love peanut butter sandwiches, this book will have you laughing out loud all the way through.

Halley and Preston, two people in denial of their feelings for each other placed in a kissing booth competition on the annual fair in their town where they live. Awkward or what!!! Halley has had a crush on her best friends brother Preston for as long as she can remember but doesn't feel good enough for him, so she keeps those feelings to herself. A cute librarian who often has her nose in a book, she always has an answer for Preston's sarcastic teasing remarks which makes this story so special. I adored the things that came out of Halley's mouth where Preston was concerned, she gave a good as she got, sometimes even better.

Preston is so so sweet and really a total gentleman even though most of the female population were queuing up to pay for a kiss-off this most eligible bachelor in town, Preston only has eyes for one girl.

Once again this author has worked her magic developing these characters that at times had me in stitches. Perfect!

I know when I go into an Emma Hart book, I am going to get a lot of laughs and Kiss Me not does not let readers down in the comedy.

Halley and Preston's story happens over a few days during the annual fair in their area. I loved watching these two banter during and after the kissing booth each day. Halley can be quite the bitch with her antics but Preston has no problem pushing right back at her. And there's a reason behind the easiness of these two but you have to read the book to find out why.

Emma does a nice job on introducing Halley's two best friends into the mix also as they will be the stars in their books to follow this one. Reagan and Ava are just as snarky and witty with their banter yet the three of them somehow balance one another out.

I enjoyed this book even though the sarcasm did get to be a bit too much at times and even bordered on the bitchiness. The story line was fun and cute and made the overall vibe enjoyable.

I am looking forward to the next book in this series!

Well, that was freaking adorable! This was a super sweet, funny romantic comedy about a pretty perfect girl and her best friend’s brother. It’s the first book in a series about three best friends. This was such an incredible introduction to the series. It’s a very quick one sitting read. Halley is a small town mayor’s daughter, librarian and loves animals, specifically the raccoons who live behind her house. She’s also the reigning champ of the kissing booth at the local county fair for the last 4 years. Halley has two best friends: Ava and Reagan, and their friendship was absolutely one of my favorite parts of the book. Reagan’s brother, Preston, is Halley’s competitor this year in the kissing booth. Preston and Halley both have crushes on each other but they have never acted on it. These two were seriously the cutest together. Their chemistry and banter was adorable. All of the extra characters brought so much to the story and I am so looking forward to Reagan and Ava’s books in the next couple months. If you are looking for a quick, charming romantic comedy, this is a must read!

I’ve been looking forward to this book since the cover reveal, the first time I read the blurb. I sounded super cute and it sounded like it would be funny.

I’m happy to report that the book lived up to my expectations.

I’ll admit, when I went to start the book, I had a moment of panic, wondering if I was going to end up comparing it to the Netflix movie The Kissing Booth…I didn’t. It’s totally different, just having a similar plot device. In this case, the kissing booth lasts for a full week.

I absolutely loved the banter between Preston and Halley. They’ve known each other practically their whole lives, and they’ve spent most of it bickering. Unbeknownst to the other person, both of them had crushes on each other. Of course, Preston’s sister & Halley’s bff Reagan knew about both crushes.

I loved the bet that Preston and Halley had, the person to win with the most kisses for the day had to kiss the other one, adding to their total. And of course, I loved that Halley ended up losing and kissing Preston’s cheek. You just know that that wasn’t what Preston had in mind when he suggested the bet. So the next night, with the same bet, I was literally screaming at Preston for chickening out and doing the same thing. But, he totally made up for it because the kiss right after that was HOT.

I also thought their first date was absolutely adorable. I loved that they spent it at the carnival, riding the ferris wheel, playing games, winning fish and stuffed animals.

The banter definitely made this book. I’m definitely looking forward to reading the next book because the premise sounds hilarious!

Gah, so this isn't my normal g0-to romance. I normally go for some that are a little more intense, and darker. This was a sweet, fun, cute rom-com.. and truthfully I don't mind rom-com's but it is not often I will find one that grabs at me and makes me want to re-read it. Well, I found that with this one. Emma's way with words is flawlessly and it did leave me wanting to read more and read it again in the near future.

This cute funny little gem was based on two main characters Preston and Halley and a few secondary characters that I adored just as much as I did with the two mains.

Halley is the daughter of Mayor of their small town. She is an animal lover, a librarian, and the champion many times over at the kissing booth at their town fair. She has two best friends Reagan and Ava. These three are inseparable. It was adorable! This year with the kissing both, she is up against Reagan's brother Preston, a guy she has had a crush on for the longest time and he feels the same way, neither of them has acted on it... So while being so close together during this competition, she isn't too eager to have to watch this guy kissing other girls, both to make it like she doesn't care, she starts putting bets on the competition... Making wagers. Sparks do start to fly with these two, even more, and the chemistry between them builds and builds and this crush they both have on each other only intensified as the book progresses. But what will the end result be? Who will win? Will they finally take a chance on each other? Or will they ignore what is staring them both in the face? That they are meant to be?

I loved how the author adds in the secondary characters and makes them a big part of this story too. The girls' friendship was fun, funny and I adored the hell out of it, maybe even more than I adored Preston and Halley... however I was smitten with those two also. I loved this. As I said, it wasn't a normal kind of read for me... But I took a chance and I am thrilled a did. It was a change of pace and definitely something I will go back and re-read if I need a light-hearted, fun and laugh-out-loud rom-com.

If you love a good rom-com filled with laughs, chemistry off the charts, wit, quirky and quick read, this book is for you! It is a feel-good kind of read and that's exactly what it did, it made me feel good!!

Kiss Me Not by Emma Hart is a sweet and funny romantic comedy from the Queen of romcoms. It's the 1st book in the " Kiss Me" series which will have you rolling in laughter and have you falling in swoon at Preston.
I love the witty banter between Preston and Halley , Halley and her friends and pretty much Halley and anyone in town. I am in total love with this small town of Creek Falls and all who lives in it. 
What you have is two people (Halley and Preston) who are in denial of their feelings for one another yet truly like the other.
Halley and Preston end up placed in a kissing booth competition on the yearly fair where they live. What are they to do?
Oh the sass! The wit! The humor! It's another sensational romcom by Emma Hart that has great characters, plot, scenes, subplot and the chemistry between the main characters, the feels and steam is amazing!! Loved every moment of the book!! I can't wait for book 2.

Another delightful romantic comedy from the queen of romcoms, the first book in Kiss Me series will tickle your funny bone and make you swoon at Preston.

Preston Wright’s family owns the successful floral shop in the small town of Creek Falls. He is also the older brother of Reagan, Halley’s best friend. Preston, the most eligible bachelor in town and Halley, the mayor’s daughter don’t seem to get along. And then they find themselves as competitors in the annual town fair’s Kissing Booth fundraiser. Will they finally kiss and make up or make out?

Halley Dawson is the sexy librarian and is also known as the crazy raccoon lady of Creek Falls. She has been the Kissing Booth champ for the last four years and she doesn’t plan to relinquish that title to Preston. But spending time together might just thaw out her coldness towards him.

Narrated in dual points of view, this romantic comedy is a pleasure to read. Preston and Halley’s chemistry are undeniable. Preston is the swoony hero whose smouldering looks will set your knickers on fire. He is rich and doesn’t sleep around, he is just perfect! There are so many funny moments and hilarious dialogue amongst the characters that will make you giggle.

This book is full of memorable characters: Halley’s best friends Ava and Reagan, the two eccentric grandmas and Halley’s regular night time guests, a family of raccoons whose needs are catered to by the kind-hearted heroine. This is a slow burn romance and the only sexy scenes are at the last chapter but it is worth the wait, sometimes less is more and I am glad that the author made it that way considering the timeline of the story. This trio of sassy, smart and independent ladies are such unforgettable characters and I cannot wait to read Ava and Reagan’s stories.

I'm a fan of Emma's rom-coms because they are guaranteed to be full of snarkiness with a side of sass and Kiss Me Not was no exception! Halley is the fiesty, quirky, librarian whose the reigning Queen of the Kissing booth in Creek Falls; until Preston her rich, hunky long time crush becomes her competition. This was a fun, sweet read that had me smiling and laughing from beginning to end with the witty banter between all characters that I was not ready for this story to end!
