Some people think that I’m a problem child, that I’m lazy and never pay attention in lessons. But the thing is, I’m not a problem child at all. I’m just a child with a problem.

Everyone keeps telling him to try harder, but no one seems to understand just how hard he finds it. When Mum suggests Felix spends time with his grandfather, Felix can’t think of anything worse. Granddad hasn’t been the same since Grandma died. Plus he’s always trying to teach Felix boring chess. Overall I enjoyed this second book more than the first--the action was non-stop and I definitely wanted to find out what was next. I still don't love Maeve, but she's starting to grow on me. And I really like her best friends Nym and Razielle. As was the case in the first book, it's hard to tell who are the bad guys and good guys, although some of the characters are pretty nasty. I think part of what annoys me about Maeve is that she often acts like she is 14 rather than 18, maybe because she is a neophyte, but I think it's been part of her survival mode that makes her lash out as the first instinct. She does mature a little bit more in this one, although her anger still gets the best of her. But she's learning to channel that anger in a more productive way and for me, that's a sign of maturity. There were a number of surprises in this book, but the ending is not quite as abrupt as in the first book. I'll be continuing the series to find out what happens. One good thing about this series is that it moves so quickly!
Crestfallen is how all the characters feel after all the plot twists and betrayals, probably. This book picks right back up from book one. Maeve tries to run from the magic world but it eventually catches up to her. She definitely learns to see things from a less selfish prospective. Kind of. I love how fast-paced the Spellcrest Academy series has been so far. I hope it continues to be.
Loved it again, just like Spellcrest Academy! Maeve is down to earth and very driven to reach her goals. When she gets bullied, they take her stuff and more, she’s even more determined to make it right. The magic isn’t very reliable but of great use when it does work. Lots of twists and a thrilling story. Can’t wait for the next part!
I must say that Mr. Pierce hit this one out of the park! Crestfallen is the perfect word for this book two in the Spellcrest Academy series. Maeve faces many challenges that will surprise you and keep you riveted to the pages. She is a headstrong and stubborn personality which gets her in and out of so many troubling situations. But the end of this book is staggering! It has me anxious and impatient to see what Mr. Pierce has in store for us in book three. I can hardly wait. This is a series well worth reading!
When your eyes have been opened, it’s hard to close them again… Maeve tried to escape and forget all this magic stuff, but when she finds a seam opened in her apartment, she comes to realize that this is her new reality. Magic exists. And she so needs to move. There’s no use running, and she desperately needs answers after the bombshell dropped on her in the Crystal Crypt. Maeve has unfinished business at Spellcrest Academy, but this time will be even harder than the last. Her needle is gone—her powers, nonexistent. In essence, she’s gone from one of the most powerful new students to the absolute weakest. And it’s important for her to keep up with the rest of her class in order to remain enrolled—and she needs to remain enrolled in order to find the answers she seeks. This sure as hell isn’t going to be easy.
Maeve's journey continues in the breathtaking second book of the Spellcrest Academy series. This is an excellent novel; this one picks up about a month after the last one ended. I feel this one is so much more than the first one. You can really feel the passion that has gone into the writing. Characters have grown and love seeing that; can't wait to see more of them. Great story line and plot and so cleverly written. This series is worth your time reading! Highly recommend!

Crestfallen takes you immediately from book one, Spellcrest Academy, and straight into the action of book two. As usual, Michael's natural talent of writing his characters with wit and personality will draw you into Maeve's life as if you're right in the story with her. All of her friends from book one is also in book two albeit some new characters added to create more intrigue and danger.
For me personally, Maeve has quickly become one of my favorite book characters. It took me awhile to get used to her snarky personality in Spellcrest Academy but the author cleverly writes the reasons why Maeve is the way she is. She doesn't necessarily apologize for her quick tongue and abrasive behaviors, but neither is she cruel or mean. She's just stuck trying to make the best of her life for her and her brother, Finley. In Crestfallen, Maeve has been deceived by her brother and is once again on her own. We do however, get a bit more insight into her best friend, Ben, who we don't quite know yet if he has some romantic feelings for Maeve. At least that's the vibe I got from him, lol.
Crestfallen is a very fast-paced read, much more so than Spellcrest Academy. There is basically non stop movement in every page and every action leads to another quite seamlessly - get it, seam, seamstress? :) I don't want to give away any spoilers, but Maeve was dead set on leaving the magical college and basically licking her wounds after the first book's battle and ending. Having felt deceived and betrayed by her crush and the school, Maeve tries to get on with her life, although she wasn't quite sure what that would be in the beginning of the story. No sooner had she started to settle in with Ben and his girlfriend, something happens in their apartment and she is instantly drawn back to Spellcrest Academy. From then on, you are also instantly drawn into her world and all the mishaps, misunderstandings, and mistrusts along the way. I truly felt for Maeve but was also rooting for her every step of the way.
I highly recommend reading book one, Spellcrest Academy to get a real feel of Maeve, her friends, enemies, and all the things that happened to her in book two, Crestfallen. Since book two takes place right after book one, you jump right into the story with Maeve, kind of like a soap opera where a cliffhanger always makes you want to get to the next episode! Yes, there is still a cliffhanger for Crestfallen, but that's what makes this series so fun - you don't want everything revealed all at once, do you? Thank you again, Mike for this thrill ride of a series!
Maeve had come back from the world of magic without anything, even her brother. No longer part of their world she was back with Ben, only he has a girl friend. She starts work at her old job trying to save money for some kind of future. Her only contact with magic was the occasional message from her roommates, Raziellem and Nym. After coming home from a New Years party, Maeve see an open portal and knows someone has come visiting. She sees Quin who takes some of her blood and leaves an open portal right in the middle of her living room.
This paranormal academy is the second book in the Spellcast Academy Series and it continues from where book one left off. Although you can read this book separately, I would strongly urge to read book one first as this series has a lot of characters and significant events that you see the consequences of in this book. The characters are well crafted, complex and interesting complete with strengths and foibles. The narrative is for Maeve’s point of view and allows the reader to glean insights into her formidable personality, emotions, decisions and actions. She is such an interesting character that it makes you engaged in the story and wondering what she is going to do next. The storyline flows along well and is filled with surprises, emotional drama, danger, lots of action and touching moments. What I like the most about this book is how the main character had to overcome her failings and learn to have confidence in herself. So far this is a great Academy series.

I enjoyed this book, maybe even a little more than the first book. This book picks up about a month after the last book ended. Maeve is couch-surfing at her friend Ben's place. And his new girlfriend does not like this. She is also back working at her old job. Which Maeve doesn't really like.
Maeve is trying to deal with the double betrayal of not only Devon but her very unlikable brother Finley. Since I didn't want to give away any spoilers for the last book, I didn't mention how much I dislike her whiney loser of a brother.
Maeve encounters an open tear when she returns from a New Year's Eve party with Ben and Trish. She tries to get them to leave the apartment before the intruder knows they are there. That doesn't happen and Ben and Trish get knocked out. Maeve gets involved in a fight with the intruder and they both end up with multiple minor injuries.
The intruder was there to get some of Maeve's blood and re-enters the tear without closing it. Maeve is "forced" to call Devon to get his mother, the witch of Spellcrest, to come to Hollywood and close the rip. This evening starts a snowball of incidents/storylines that will evolve over the rest if the book.
Best part is that there will be another book, or more (?), to continue the adventures of our heroine, Maeve.
I received an ARC ebook to read and give an honest review. You will love this book. I did. Can't wait for the next book.
Her powers stolen by her own brother left Maeve believing she had no place anymore in Spellcrest
Maybe leaves the academy and returns to the norm world. Her friend, Ben lets her sleep on his couch although his girlfriend does not approve. Raised and Nym convince Maeve that she should return to the academy because she still has some magical power. Maeve wants to find her brother, get her needle back along with her abilities and this may be the only way. Without her crystal or needle, Maeve struggles to try and refind her magic. When her brother is returned to her without the needle and with his mouth magically sewn shut, Maeve begins to plan on going to Kycryia to regain her powers.
Book one of this series reunites the roommates and begins the second year at Spellcrest Academy. Maeve is singled out to join a secret society called the S&S. Skulls & Spiders or vice versa. She is the youngest pledge and there is friction from the beginning. The adult sponsor is a vampire who was Maeve's mothers roommate at Spellcrest. Maeve becomes uncomfortable and decides to drop out of S&S. However, this means all of the inductees will also fail. She show up for the Final test but.. no spoiler here. Book two was dry as dust until the very end. Then the was a major cliffhanger. Book three was full of action. It included courses, angels and vampires. Oh my! There were unexpected twists injuries, and new romances.. These books were much better than the original ones.
We have mystery, action and suspense. We have all the characters from the 1st book back in this one. After Maeve toke off and Quin showed up in her friends apartment, she has to call the headmistress. What will happen? When she goes back without her powers what will happen? Can she get a little magic back? What about her brother, will she get hi. Back and forgive him? Can she trust her friends? Why is the Headmistress still on her back? Can she and Devon go further in their relationship? Can she get into Kicryria to find answers? Can she find Tarquinius and get her needle back?

Maeve is couch surfing at her friends Ben’s place but Ben has a girlfriend and she doesn’t want Maeve hanging around all of the time. They go to Maeve’s apartment after a New Years party and Maeve finds a tear she tries to get her friends to leave but they won’t but Maeve knows that there is an intruder in her apartment she wants them to leave so they don’t get hurt but they do then Maeve is fighting this intruder. I’m not going to get too much into this story but this book is even better than the first book and I can’t wait for book 3, thank you Michael for this gem of a series and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
This was really weak. I gave it a chance, after books one’s cliffhanger, but reads like a 12-15 year age appropriate novel when the characters are supposed to be in their 20’s?? And it just writes characters out like, “meh” what’s up with that, no explanation, no emotional response from existing characters. ?? the book thinks about doing some character development, and then chickens out and skips to something else entirely. Shallow, basic, weak interpersonal work makes this a tough swallow as NA. The last quarter of the book was so disappointing, I don’t think I can follow up with #3.
I read a review of this one before reading and so i was forewarned that it was in need of proofreading. My biggest pet peeve while reading is finding multiple spelling and grammatical errors that if someone had just read it they would have found and corrected before publishing. A quickly growing pet peeve is authors that have cliff hangers at the end of every book. Instead of making me want to read the next one out only makes me think long and hard before buying the next book because I don't see the bed in buying it if it doesn't have an end.
The way book 1 ended i was a little apprehensive about starting book 2 but sheer curiosity made me read it.
This book turned out be pleasantly surprising in many ways. If book 1 had a small dose of mystery and thrill, this book was full of intrigue, mystery, magic and belief.
Now i can honestly say, i can't wait for book 3.

The story continues as Maeve, with no powers, searches for the magic everyone says she has inside herself. Betrayed by her brother, Maeve now has a quest to search for her needle and souls of her parents. Her friends at the Academy try to help however they can. Her quest becomes more complicated, when she goes to another dimension, as secrets are revealed.
An excellent continuation of Maeve's adventures. The second book in the Spellcrest Academy is as good as the first and so much more! As the story progresses, so does the character development. Mr. Pierce has weaved a breathtaking and engrossing story full of suspense, mystery, intrigue and magic. The ending left me wanting for more and I can't wait to get hold of the next book!

This book was so good I binged it all in a day. Michael Pierce really created characters I became invested in and needed to know more about. There are some new connections between everyone and they really made this story good. I was not expecting the turn at the end and am anxiously wondering what will happen in the next book. This series is a great and book 2 was even better than the first.
The story is really good but I think he was in too much of a hurry to publish. There are obvious passages where he changed his mind on how to word things and extra random words were left behind or words are missing altogether. It distracts from the story. This is why proofreaders were invented.
This chapter of Maeve's life deals with returning to school and living without her needle. We see her struggle with a regular life and a magical one. Her loyal friends are with her every step of the way. There are a few new characters that leave you wondering.
This was better than the first book. My heart was racing while reading this. Looking forward to the next adventure.
Crestfallen by Michael Pierce is an amazing story that I had the privilege to read. This is book number two in this amazing series that I just can not get enough of since the first book. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about magic and fantasy in their stoires as much as I do.

I enjoyed the story line, however, it definitely isn't a young adult book. There was a bit of language throughout as well as some mature innuendos that does does not fit the characters being high schoolers. I was able to skim it easy enough but I would not feel comfortable letting a teenager read this.
I know I said I was feeling some type of way about her brother now I'm feeling some type of way about her boyfriend I don't know if I feel like guy the bad guy I'm just so confused right now how about how I feel about some of these characters I just need to read more to find out who to love and who they hate
I really liked this book. I would like to read more from this author. The characters were real and it had a good story overall. I would definitely recommend this book.

I love this series so far. I love that it has magic and everything but a completely different take on it all. I love Maeve and I think shes strong for everything shes been through and now knows she has to face it head on and cant run away from what she needs to do.
Too unrealistic. I quit reading halfway through after Maeve is nearly killed by upperclassmen in a hazing attack. Her response was to not report it to anyone. Not a message that needs to be out there for any young girl in today’s world.
DNF at 47%. I can't even force myself to read this; I went to clean the bathroom instead. The FMC is aggressive, and that's about all I can say about her for sure. I'm disappointed because the premise was original and interesting. Sadly, the character development just isn't there.
