Lacy Dawson would rather spend her days experimenting with brownie recipes and trying on wedding dresses , than go on yet another secret mission to save her country, and had found a way out.Deaf, Special Operative Matthew Edwards, stumbled across Lacy where she wasn't supposed to be, while on an enforced vacation. They’d never been able to stifle their sexual attraction and indulged every time their paths crossed. However, Matthew knew Lacy was working a dangerous mission outside of the bureau. But what? She was too soft and needed protecting from herself. Lacy's secrets take her from America to Russia, to England, all the while with Matthew hot on her heels. How could she avoid Matthew? Did she want to?
When I described myself to my friends, I called myself an introvert, and they laughed so hard I should really be offended.
I also consider myself to be very lucky, as although born in Britain, I spent my formative years mostly in Kingston, Jamaica, with a long detour through Toronto and Nairobi. I married my college sweetheart and we have two kids and a cat. I LOVE cats.
I've come full circle and live in Nottingham, just 12 miles from where I was born.
My writing reflects all that I am and where I've been. I love mixing cultures and seeing what happens.

I have mixed feelings about this review, because I embarked on the book expecting to really like it, but it was just okay for me.
Is it well-written? Yes. Does it have twists and turns? Yes. Does it have sex? Yes, lots of it.
So what's the problem?
Well...first of all, the first third or so of the book is seriously just Lacy and Matthew having sex everywhere, and Matthew being a meanie without justification in between. Yes, I see some of you still wondering what the problem is (ha!). I just like more 'story' to go with the sex scenes. In this case, there was very little story going on in the beginning, then not a lot of sex in the second half. Anyway, when the (rest of the) story really begins, there are a few surprises to keep the things moving along, but the rush I usually get from espionage and romantic suspense stories was missing.
I've already mentioned the hero being mean (IMO) without real justification - especially because he wasn't her superior in the agency. The other major thing that didn't quite gel for me was that the heroine was supposed to be a field operative, but (save for a few scenes), she really didn't come off that way.
I got confused a few times with scenes involving the full cast of secondary characters. Although, some of them (Matthew's brothers, especially) were interesting enough that I did wonder about their stories (books 1 and 2 of the series).
By all indication, this was a book I should have thoroughly enjoyed (alpha hero, international setting, espionage and close calls with danger...), but something just didn't connect for me.
Fans of the series or of the author are most likely to enjoy the book, because they may have already met Matthew in the previous books.
Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book, and this review is given voluntarily.
I typically enjoy romantic suspense or suspenseful romance, whichever way the plot tends to skew. I was looking forward to this one, as the blurb suggested it had a globe-hopping thriller element as well. Unfortunately, the book had so many technical errors that I found myself overly distracted and could not enjoy the story.
What kind of technical errors? The author doesn't seem to have a clear grasp of grammar, punctuation, and usage to such an extent that barely a paragraph goes by without some sort of error. Clearly, this was not professionally copyedited or proofread. Commas were sometimes missing altogether or used when they should not have been. Sometimes I had to reread a line because the lack of punctuation (or wrong punctuation) made it confusing. At least one sentence ended with a comma instead of a period. There was a lot of headhopping in this book; the narrator did not always stay consistent for a particular scene or segment of a chapter. The author quite often confused person and tense in the areas where she had a character think or muse about a specific idea. In one instance in two paragraphs right next to each other, she had a character “muse” in the second person and then “think” in the first person! Same character, same train of thought.
The two characters have a sexual history, and the book does get sexual very fast. Their lust for each other frequently overwhelms the rest of the story. The author does use some profanity and crude words, which I'm not a fan of. At times, it felt like the characters were just toying with each other, and that started to grate on my nerves.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
If you're looking for an exciting, suspenseful (and romantic) read for your weekend or vacation, you should definitely read Caroline Bell Foster's Avoiding Matthew.
I love the set up of Matthew and Lacy's paths crossing when she turns up where she isn't supposed to be. I also loved the chemistry between these two characters. It's undeniable and it pulls you deeper into the story.
I'm not usually one to read romantic suspense but I found myself caught up in Lacy and Matthew's story and loving every minute of it. This was the first books of the International Heroes series that I've read, so now I definitely need to read books 1 and 2 to get myself deeper entrenched in this exciting world of international espionage that Caroline has created.
I'm new to this particular author and their writing style. In the first several chapter, it seemed like the majority of the time the two main characters were having sex or fighting, and I was wondering if in the entire book, they were only going to either f@@k or fight. After several chapters, I was kinda over that and finally about chapter 7, was when the story really began for me. You could tell the growth in Matthew because he was truly a butt hole in the beginning, but was redeemable by the end of the story. There were definitely a lot of surprises throughout the story and it was in no way predictable to me.
The third book in the International Heroes series and I want to read the next book a well written story. The storyline is interesting and it flows smoothly from one page to the other. This is Lacy Dawson and Deaf, Special Operative Matthew Edwards' story with suspense, drama, danger, twists, turns, and romance. I enjoyed reading. The writing will draw you in after only a few pages and have you finishing the book in one sitting. There is the perfect amount of angst and romance and grit to keep you hooked.
I loved how their relationship unfolded so we could see these amazing characters grow in ways you never expected. I would suggest picking up a copy asap, you will not be disappointed.

Her missions take all to all different places in the world. Is something going to happen between them? What are her secret plans? See what it become a relationship and find out her secret plans

With great diverse characters and an interesting premise this book is a thrilling roller coaster ride. The secondary characters add to the richness of the story, the hero is totally lovable and the heroine kickass. It's definitely an action packed read. Thoroughly recommended. Now I want to read Tanya's happy ever after.
This was a great read from beginning to the end. The characters are well developed and engaging with chemistry galore. The storyline flowed smoothly making for an entertaining and enjoyable time of reading.

Let me start start off by saying Avoiding Matthew took the series to another level if you have read the previous 2 book. I love love love the chemistry between Lacy and Matthew sizzling. I really love the plot in this story it was action packed, suspense, ahhh moments it has something for everyone on it and I could see myself going to the cinema to watch this story as a movie. There wasn't a dull moment in this story.
Them Mannino's brothers are HOT HOT HOT. I can wait to read the story of Tanya and Chase. I'm feeling Chad I have a feeling that he would be my favourite brother. I think that Caroline has definitely levelled up this series and set precedence for the next series. I cannot wait to read more about the Mannino brothers.
