I made it about 25% through this book when I put it down. This was not what I signed up for. I liked the first 2 books in the series, but for some reason they completely changed the format from fantasy in the first 2 books to sci-fi in this book. There was just something unsettling about having a catgirl, naga, and magical puppet girl in space. Of course they weren't really in space, they were still part of a computer simulation. It felt like someone trying to combine Star Trek with Lord of the Rings. It didn't work. Having the computer generated characters wonder about their existence was sort of interesting, but the story and world building sucked in this book and I was pretty sure it wasn't going to get better. I was worried about something like this was going to happen which is why it had been so long since I read the 2 book before I picked this one up.

I was fortunate to see the manuscript for this book slightly before publication. Regrettably, I was already behind on other projects and was unable to give suggestions to the author before publication. That being said, there is very little in The Eros Expansion that I would find fault with. Yes, there are a few mistakes every book has them no matter how many eyes look at the text.

About the first quarter of the book I really struggled to get into The Eros Expansion. I’ve read this book twice now well, technically three times if you count the early manuscript and twice reading the purchased copy. I have yet to identify just what I find lacking in the first quarter of the book.

The Eros Expansion takes a large turn from the first two books dropping fantasy characters into a Sci-Fi setting. I generally dislike fantasy mixed with Sci-Fi but there are a few authors who do it well enough that I read their books.

I don’t believe I have ever seen a giant Naga in space so that was something unique. Vale as always is my favorite character and I wondered if she would have trouble moving on smooth metal shipboard floors. Apparently Vale suffered no loss of traction as she moves quite effectively throughout the book.

My first reading of the manuscript and of my purchased copy of The Eros Expansion I found meh. It was during my third reading that I settled into the story. This book changes settings a lot more than the first two books. At first the different settings through me off a bit, but after another read I enjoyed the journey with the characters.

The author shows his creativity detailing unusual and different settings for traditional fantasy characters to experience. Several places where the author could have fallen into the usual tropes was skillfully avoided. Pirates in fantasy are generally there merely for hero cannon fodder, but the author competently used pirates in a unique way.

Ultimately, I just can’t put my fingers on just why I don’t enjoy the beginning of The Eros Expansion. My inability to enunciate my issues should not delay my posting of a good review for a worthy author. I am looking forward to the next book as this one ends on a nice cliffhanger with plenty of foreshadowing.

Great reaf

Wow, a story that includes that is not just an excuse to bring the gaming world to life but actually is part pf the story. Very well done and a fun read. Looking forward to the 4th book. As the 4th is listed as the last this looks to be a complete story rather the never ending cliff hangers that some authors. Really well done.

This is a great mix of scifi, fantasy, erotica and action. Also has sensitive heros that keep learning. :-)

Fun idea, very porny. If you can get past the sex, it's a good little story.

One good book deserves another

Prax has kept the story going strong and book 3 is another 5 Star worthy book. I feel he does a good job dealing with the characters learning they “aren’t real” and how they would work through it. I got book 4 and I’m going to review it next. All 4 are worth the read and whether you’re looking for a story with good plot or sexy fun times (Prax is great at those by the way) you should enjoy these adventures.

Awesome

This one was a bit more action packed and covered more ground in a more engaging way without being as repetitive. Still plenty of intimate scenes but not in a boring way. Very pleased with the book and looking forward to the next book.

Enjoyable

Enjoyable maybe is not best description when I think about it but I'll keep it for now. I love erotica but this book would have survived w/o all the sex. It's truly a good read and I definitely will dive into the next one.

Another Chapter

I like that the book is exploring new worlds, including the "real world". It's interesting to see how the characters are developing as individuals and as a group. The love shared between our characters is refreshing in these hard times outside the books.

Not my favorite of the series. The setting changes were fine, but something wasn't quite right, especially the first third. It ended up being okay. The book 4 teaser at the end of the audiobook gives me hope that the series will bounce right back. 👍🏽

Did not enjoy as much as the previous, but glad I didn't just quit

Picking Up the Pieces (Enthralled #2) concluded with a sucker punch surprise ending, cliff hanger that completely redefined everything that came before and kicked the chair out from under what you though you knew.
The Eros Expansion does little to repair this damage.
A fantasy Novel that that challenges suspension of disbelief, and then pointedly reminds you that it's just a story is hard to enjoy.
a 2 star book that gets +1 star because I love the characters and for outstanding sex scenes.

EDIT: 2 years later. I just couldn't do it. tried to reread it and couldn't keep my eyes on the page or make myself care.

Loved it

Well book 3 was just as much fun as the other two, of course the ending was a bit unexpected. Looking forward to reading the next one. I still love Ahnix the most.
