The story in this series is good and I’d probably rate it a 4 if it were in one book. None of these books are stand alone material. They end abruptly and don’t recap what happened in the previous book. However, the characters sre likeable and the story keeps your interest.
I rated this 3.5 stars. I’m enjoying the series but I keep waiting for something crazy and dramatic to happen which it doesn’t. I couldn’t believe the ending though!
This third installment is yet another example of the insanity that we’re living in. From the summary, we know that Pepper and Finn are together, but we don’t know what that means for the future relationship and for the relationship with Colton. He’s still not thrilled with the idea of his brother and Pepper together and that drives an even bigger wedge.
Everyone wants to live their lives towards the end goal of happiness, but what we’re learning throughout this third installment is that it’s not possible. This isn’t fantasy land, and there’s no chance that everyone will have their happy ending.
What IS happy though is Colton’s story. He’s come out of his shell and has really started to thrive in his life. He’s in a great relationship with a guy who seems to be right for him – and his friends and family really like Tom as well. He’s enjoying his new job and really feels like he’s doing something for the greater good. The only problem that he has in life is that he’s not in a great place with Finn and that’s going to be a long road to get to a happy spot again.
On the other hand, we have an intense romance with Finn and Pepper to focus on. they are beyond deeply in love, even if they don’t admit the words to one another for quite some time. Their chemistry is off the charts and the white hot inferno that we saw in the last book continues to burn even hotter here, giving us some of the hottest scenes out there. Something that our author is known for and something that carries this story through.
We’re spending a lot of time here relying on trust, and love. We see what’s possible when you have so much love for someone that you give them unconditional trust, and it’s really great to see a healthy relationship in that sense. What concerns me though is that they have such different impressions of what the future should look like. We know that Pepper wants the family and kids. She wants to settle down and live in Seattle near her friends and her business. That’s never been Finn’s story. He’s always moved around – never staying in one place for too long and really not committing to much of anything and even though he sometimes feels like he can commit to Pepper, it’s always on his terms.
And that’s where we end this third book. We are on such a high knowing that Finn wants to commit to Pepper, wants to have a future with her which is very uncharacteristic for him, but again it’s on his terms. He wants her to give everything up and that’s something that she just can’t do. So sadly, we are not in a happy place when this third book ends, and I hope that we can figure out what that means in the long run. There’s really no way that they can both get what they want together, so we’ll see if they can get it apart.
OMG!! Fantastic!!! I couldn’t stop reading this book! It continued to suck me deeper into this forbidden affair! I wanted to take sides with Pepper one minute and Colton the next! E.L. Todd did an amazing job of obscuring the lines between what should be acceptable as right and wrong in this situation. Finn is such a complex character. He comes across as shallow and cold at times but is really layered and has a giant heart. I found myself hysterical through the end of the book! I want it to work so badly and question who is not willing to compromise at this point! Nothing is ever a fairytale in reality, so is Pepper being unreasonable by not compromising to help him follow his dream and the opportunity of a lifetime? Could she not suck it up and be adventurous and leave her mundane life to live a little and enjoy love and life? Who knows, maybe after a few years they would return to Seattle and set roots! Or..... Is Finn the one being unreasonable? Should he expect her to follow him to pursue his dreams and leave everything she knows behind? Is their love strong enough to survive? Will they find their way back to each other? I can’t wait to find out!!!

I'm definitely invested in this series at this point and in the characters however this book wasn't what I had been hoping for. It was repetitive, especially the dialogue and conversations. I really hope the next one is better. The amount charged for each book is a bit high to me, especially since this book especially felt like it was being drug out by the author. Really hoping i'm not disappointed at the end of this series. Would hat to waste the time and money to be unhappy at the end.
The book is a little expensive especially when there's multiple books in the series but its a good read
It's a good book you should read it we already knew what he was gonna do Colton told her that Finn would break her heart because he can never stay in 1 place. I'm trying to write a review for every book I read this year but my hearts not into it .
Okay, super spicy and all. I didn’t get to finish this third book, and won’t plan to finish the entire series. I’m bummed that I reached book 3, and decided not to finish the series. First of all, Colton’s character irritates me! Going on and on about bro-code, jealousy and other stuff. It did address how uncomfortable being in his situation, brother doing the ex-wife and shit. I tried to understand his situation, but like Pepper said he’s being dramatic, and he’s being the one holding her back with the relationships, hookups or whatever she’s trying to have. Also, he’s being insensitive! Forcing or pushing her into something she doesn’t want to like she’s been trying to explain to him that she’s not feeling Jax or like she doesn’t wanna do something serious! I feel like he doesn’t listen to anybody, and all he cares about is himself. Like that part where they party, and all he cared was take home a guy. Even if he’s straight they would still be probably divorce, cause he’s obviously selfish. Second, okay Pepper needs to expand her circle of friends like really? Being all bestfriends with ex-husband. Good terms I would get, but bffs? Obviously it’s so complicated from the beginning. Third, Stella! She and Colt can be bffs! So many things in common, like ya’ll so insensitive towards Pepper. Lastly, Zach just agrees with everybody like he can be so persuaded easily. A little bias too. So yeah, this series pretty much chaotic. This toxic relationship trope is not for me.

Pepper and Finn can finally start enjoying their relationship without feeling guilty. It seems as if they may have found their happiness. Colton seems to be coming around to them being together. I loved the struggles Colton faced with letting Pepper go. I did not feel for him though because of all that he put Pepper through and she was still his best friend. I finally felt as if there would be some happiness for all of them, but just when I think I can breathe easy, E. L. Todd takes my breathe away again. The twist in this book, left me in shock and needing that last installment in this series.
The consistency of Lia Langola and Michael Ferraiuolo as narrators keeps the story flowing. It is so easy to go from one book to the next as if there was never a break. Michael brings Finn and Colton to life. Through his narrations, Michael brings the angst and drama so real, it is felt by the listener. Lia mkaes Pepper the character she is. I loved how Lia brought out Pepper and made her seem more like a friend talking to me. This narration is a must listen to and it enhances the story.
So this is the third book with Pepper and Finn. After the cliffhanger the second one left us on I was so ready to see what happens between them! After everything Pepper and Finn have been through it finally seems like their relationship is there and they can be happy. Now that they're no longer having to sneak around behind Coltons back they can have much more of what you think of as a conventional relationship and I loved following it. These books continue to build upon one another making for well thought out, amazing, steamy and heartfelt story that makes it impossible to put down.
The chemistry between these two just continues to get better and stronger as you continue to follow their story. There is still so much to their story still to come. It definitely has it's heartbreaking moments, but also the moments of total redemption when they're still the characters you've come to love through their story! I can't wait to see what comes next for Piper, Finn and Colton in The Fighter!
I hate to say this, but I give up on this Rollercoaster. I had books 1 and 2 rated at a 5⭐️. This one, I can't even get past chapter 3 because Colton is such a whiny baby. The amount of hurtful things he said to both Finn and Pepper is unforgivable. They are just about killing themselves with guilt, killing themselves to get him to forgive them all for something that, in my opinion, isn't even that bad! Colton and Pepper are in such a good place after their divorce, and he is letting his own insecurities with his brother get in the way of THEIR happiness. He got his HEA (as of chapter 3 at least), but he can't let them have theirs?! Nope. I'm done with the selfishness of this jack wagon. Finn said it right, Pepper was nothing but selfless when it came to Colton coming out, but she is not getting the same in return. So I give up. I hope Finn and Pepper get their HEA and give the middle finger to Colton because he isn't worth it. I hope he sits on his angry pile of Sh*t and sulks while the other two ride off into the sunset!
Poor Pepper seems to be unlucky in love. Divorced from Colton because he confessed to being gay. A few months later she meets his brother Finn whose been away in the military and missed their wedding so this is their first time meeting. But they have an instant attraction to each other which they both try to fight but the pull is too strong. Colton feels betrayed by Finn hooking up with Pepper but they both convince him that they're in love. Finn asks Pepper to marry him and she says yes. But it appears that wedding is not going to take place because Finn is a doctor and has accepted a position in Africa for a year hoping that Pepper is going with him. But that's not going to work for Pepper so she ends the relationship. What's going to happen now?!
The third book was good. In the beginning it was really repetitive. How many times can one person say they are hurt. But eventually the story improved. Without spoiling the story, the book takes you through deciding whether or not love is strong enough to change someone's path. I really dont know yet how I feel about Finn and Pepper. I'm so confused at how this will end but i love the suspense. I want to have hope that Finn will do the right thing but also I feel that Pepper knew what she signed up for. This book is a reminder that we all need to stop thinking that we can change a person. Believe who they show you they are!!! Can't wait to see what happens next.
Finally, Pepper and Finn's relationship is public and has Colton's blessing. I really wanted to knock Colton out for his behaviour at first, even though I had a bit of empathy for him.
The chemistry between Finn and Pepper was so real, it was a joy to read but also scary since we knew something would have to go wrong.
The last chapter was a real nail biter, I can't wait for the conclusion in book 4.
Received an ecopy of the novel from Hartwick Publishing but I am under no obligation to review.
Reasons I enjoyed this book: Entertaining, Page-turner, Romantic, Steamy, Twisted, Wonderful characters
So the love saga between Finn and Pepper continue after that major cliffhanger we had in book 2, I was so anxious to see what was going to happen between them. I have to say we got more story, and more emotions in this book I love Finn and Pepper their chemistry is explosive and their love seems really genunine. I also enjoy seeing Finn growth he's learning to deal with things and expressed his emotions better. Many surprise come along and it's making the anticipation of the next book Fighter even better. Overall a fantastic read. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no monetary compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own.
This is the continuing story of Colton, Pepper & Finn. Colton is mostly angry in this book. Pepper and Finn are happy for most of this book. Until near the end. Finn is a doctor and straight out of the military. They just got engaged, and then boom, an opportunity comes up for him with Doctors Without Borders as the lead physician, and he wants to go, but he also wants Pepper to go with him. This creates an believable tearjerker finish to this book. A lot of steamy scenes in this part of the story, too. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm so glad I am binge reading this series. Each book leaves you wanting the next book immediately.
I had tears streaming down my face when I finished this book. Pepper is such an amazing woman to put up with all she has from the Burke men and I just knew hers and Finn’s story wasn’t over yet. This book series is SO good! I can’t wait to start the 4th book in this series to see how their story ends! You definitely have to start with Book 1 and make your way through each story to understand all Pepper and Finn have been through. This story line is amazing and is filled with more than just sex scenes. It has a plot that will hook you from chapter 1 of book 1 and will have you reading as fast as you can to make it to book 4. 5 stars!
I've been waiting for The Lover since that cliffhanger ending in book 2.
The chemistry between Pepper and Finn only gets stronger. Now that their relationship is no longer a secret, how will it work? Will Finn change and settle down in one place with Pepper? Or was Colton right about him all along?
I've come to love Pepper, Finn and Colton, so the ending was heart breaking to read. I'm not sure if Finn will be able to redeem himself. I really hope Pepper finds her Mr Right.
I can't wait for the ending to this story in The Fighter.
I love Pepper and Finn. The chemistry is explosive and their love seems so genuine. I had already read the synopsis for the fourth book, soo I had an idea how it would end,but throughout the story I just couldn't see it. They are perfect for one another, and I was crying my eyes out the last chapter. I'm proud of her for standing her ground and soo disappointed in Finn. As much as I LOVE a good HEA for them, I hope Pepper finds it with someone new.
Oh my after the cliffhanger I was in desperate need to see what was going to happen with Pepper and Finn and would Colton get over the love they have for each other and the betrayal from each of them! E.L certainly keeps you on your toes, and I just love her books and series, this is truly a read that you can’t put down. Can Finn change for Pepper? Or will he run away? If you want an escapism then this is the series for you!

Finn is a dedicated doctor. He's always played the field. However, somehow Pepper has broken through his resolve of never falling in love. There's more than a cliffhanger ending with BOOK 3. Will Finn decide that Pepper is worth more to him in The Fighter, BOOK 4, or go away for a year with Doctors Without Borders, leaving Pepper for a year or continue on with his quest of glory? I'm hoping to find out when reading Book 4; which I haven't yet begun.
Fin is the perfect man. Expect for the thing inside his soul that can’t be tamed. Good thing for the World, could use more people like that in this World. But not in this story.
As great as he is, I’d love to see him come back begging on his hands & knees, at realising his mistake. I just hope he doesn’t take too long. Hate the stories when they split up and spent months apart.
